Said it before, and I'll continue to repeat myself; your builds are so nice! Well thought out, budget conscious, and have a truly liveable feel to them! Love that bathroom too, total game changer!! ❤
You’re too kind Kit, always making us feel great on Sundays!! 😅 Nicky smashed this build out of the park, especially the bathroom! Roll on our next DIY project… 👀
@@NickyandHarri cannot wait to see what you guys get stuck into next! Just love your enthusiasm and zest for life, no matter what you choose to do, your total commitment to and persistence with it is so encouraging, and that has to be worth acknowledging and celebrating! 🍾Have a great week guys, and catch you on the next one! 👍🏻
I installed a manual expandable Lift Gate at the rear of my cargo truck and it easily converts into a enclosed or Open living area. I am building simple modular wall panels that can installed in a few minutes on the lift gate. This will double my useable living space.
Thanks so much Andrew, we’re so glad it’s bringing you some inspiration for your builds!! We can’t wait to bring you all our next project… it’s something CRAZY (even for us!) 👀
Another fab video! Love seeing the homely touches - so you Nicky. 😍 I really love the car radio idea with the speakers! It’s amazing the solar panels give you all that electricity and hot water! Xxx
The speakers in the back have been a real treat so far, definitely makes it feel more homely! Literally, we talk about how amazed we are by Solar panels most days, always baffles us!! Xxx
Rogue bananas in with the non-perishables! 😄 Plenty of room for another spice rack or two above the coffee machine. Maybe swap the books with the washing 👍 How often do you have to top up your water? It's worth getting a spare 10L supply for emergencies
Oooo, some cracking ideas Jd, we need to move the washing for sure, and some extra spice racks would never go a miss! Think we top up water every 3/4 days at the moment, it could easily last us a week to be honest, but because water is so accessible we’re not using it sparingly!! 😅👊🏼
beautiful build, u could put tea leaves in them empty jars, camomile is good for the squits and peppermint is good for stomach ache/ indigestion. just an idea. just remember to get a strainer
One thing I've never been able to find out is once you've finished the conversion and got all your stuff in there and fully fuelled how much does it weigh? Luton vans are designed for carrying bulky stuff not really heavy stuff and I'd be worried about going over the 3.5t weight limit.
too much, which is why they were waved over, weighed and had to rip the kitchen unit out and leave it on side of the road and drive off to pay their fine.. Know your Payload before you purchase a Luton, plan every little bit you will install and use and get each bits weight..stay away from all this heavy recycled timber lining, timber framing and wooden doors..and kitchen units of course lol use aluminium struts, H beams etc for framework and light ply, for aesthetics use tie-dyed material or self adhesive stuff, for kitchen and other upboards, upboards, use light dry pine framing and light ply, make cupboard doors sliding with a finger hole to open and close, rather than recycled timber, handles and Ikea kitchen units etc, worktop, use something thin and light, like laminated ply..bed, dont use one, buy FROLI STAR MOBILE BED SYSTEM or one of the many similar systems, basically a click together plastic system that takes the place of a bed, to hold your mattress while allowing air to flow under it and is extremely light..and take it to the nearest weight station before, during and after and finally, pay for the printed report on your final weigh ;)
Couldn't agree more, having tested motorhomes professionally. Weight and payload are absolutely critical, because of tge 3,500kg limit for most drivers. It's the biggest headache for motorhome converters, and tge reason why it ain't as simple a process as it might seem. A big question mark is over tge 125litre freshwater tank - it would ALWAYS have to be emptied before any journey, as water is terribly heavy! Remember, if you're overweight, you"re uninsured, as well as committing an offence!@stephenperkins3247
Thoss boilers are not designed for enclosed spaces. The problem isnt tbe flue its the vents in the side of the main body that directly vents down to the gas burners in it.
love this, i honestly have a question with the vanlife thing, and that is actual usage costs per month living 'off grid'. keeping groceries aside. i even have seen some super-saver showerheads. but, in your case, i know it's for two people, let's keep that up. how much diesel do you consume a month for heating from let's say september to march? how much fresh water do you use each month, and where do you refill, and how much does that cost you? how much propane/butane do you consume (if that's what you use for heating), and how much does that cost each month how much does the electricity last you with the batteries in winter? where do you park for free without getting issues with the government for such a sized vehicle? how much does the entire setup weigh? and how much is the fuel consumption? how much do you pay for internet and how fast is that?
Great video guys Vans at the no have gone up & up & up mad But I am defo going to buy a Luton Van We have a sprinter at the mo but want something bigger
Awesome guys, the extra space has been a game changer for us, and we’d find it so hard to go back to a panel van! We’d love to see more people move to Luton’s, so make sure to keep us in the loop! 😅
Amazing conversion and a wonderful couple, thank you for the video. I have one question if you don’t mind. How did you go about informing DVLA on the conversion from a box van to a motor home? Look forward to your response. Kind regards Matthew
Hello! Thanks for the great content, I really enjoyed seeing your great conversion. I was thinking of doing the same sort of thing with the same Luton Van. Have you found there are many van-size restrictions for campsites whilst travelling through Europe and the UK? As forums online mention that most campsites have size restrictions but I don't know if it's true? Thanks again!
Looking forward to seeing your up and coming adventures new year 😀. It really awful weather in the UK at the moment, so follow the good weather best you both can. Awesome fridge how does it not drain your electric ? As I want a good fridge in my van, but I'll also need to change my Ebikes🚵. Best wishes Adrian
Thanks Adrian! We’re so excited to be able to start on the new projects! that’s the plan - chasing that sun as much as possible😅☀️ the 240v is pretty good! With the addition of a b2b charger- we’ve had no probs with it draining the battery!
Guys this is amazing!!! I'm in process with wife buying a Luton van and this is exactly what we want! Where did you start do you have any plans I can copy 😊😊
Hey bud, it does run constantly, to give you a rough idea (we have a 200ah Lithium battery) and it takes about 8% of its charge to run it over night! Definitely manageable with a DC-DC and solar!
Im not sure wether to build a camper with a Xlwb or a luton. Out of experience is the extra space in the luton much more significant than your sprinter? In terms of driving which is easier?
@@NickyandHarri you’re welcome. Wondered, that as f I ever converted one, would it be worth having a small trailer of water in tow. That then affects the fuel use no doubt, but may extend the water duration. Also, a system to put the dirty water into a tank on the trailer. 🤔
Love this van! We aren’t upgrading our LWB Renault master campervan just yet but when we do I really want to covert a Luton! I am worried about the weight though, would we need to upgrade our license to drive one of these? Or could we do it all within the 3.5t limit? Thanks in advance 😊
Hey guys, thanks so much! 🙌🏻 Weight was one of our concerns, but we’ve managed to stay under the 3.5T limit, so haven’t needed an extra license! Bare in mind we have LOTS of heavy stuff in here, like our kitchen, but we’re only travelling for 3 months (so don’t carry a house full of storage stuff!). Bottom line is, I wouldn’t be too worried about it! I hope this helps 😅
oo I like the bed above the cab, that's different to others I've seen so far. I love the look of your interior. It looks kind-of traditional, but modern...
Thank you Carl!! Hmmm that’s a hard question - I reckon if we wanted to live in the Luton full time then maybe we’d have the bed with a garage under it, to have more storage. But since we are just part time travellers- it’s enough space for now!
I know I'm internet negativity. Please watch more build videos this one how to get the basics. . 75% right. This to be honest looks like most homeowner builds /remodels. Really nice video and editing. Nice start , Finish work is rough . Take more time and do it right.
