      This man was a climbing monster, a hero and the most important thing...a real dreamer, he never gave up on this. Mountaineering will always be an extremely risky activity so your point is meaningless, you should have more respect for extraordinary people who show the best of human beings. Cheers!

      He lived 41 years doing what he loved, setting records, and inspiring people to get out into the world, what have you done?? He died doing what he loves which is something almost no one can do.You would have to be the laziest couch bum to call that foolishness. Sure going without a safety line is dangerous, but when your doing a route that has never been done before there obviously aren't going to be ropes to hold your hand the whole way, he was prepared and had more then enough experience for this, unfortunately mistakes happen.

    You think that it has to happen at one point. But he keeps coming back, having reached new heights, seemingly with ease. So your mind accepts it. It's Ueli. He'll come back. Then on a Sunday morning you get up and the news that he died slaps you in the face. This is unexpected. But I have to remind myself, what does it matter if you live 40 or 80 years. It only matters if you can do what you desire and achieve what you dream of. 40 or 80 are just arbitrary numbers. I will try to make peace with this now. My heart goes out to his family. Bye Ueli.

    • @katana5562

      Pferdekopfnebel He should have gotten treatment for depression and his feeling to have to prove himself over and over again. He must have suffered from great feelings of inner boredom and worthlessness. Also from an evolutionary standpoint his choices were very poor unfortunately. And of course for everybody involved.

    • @yellow-stand-u8wdn2
      @yellow-stand-u8wdn2 3 года назад +9

      40 and 80 are not arbitrary numbers. They represent years lived. Those numbers dictate whether you get to have children, grandchildren, whether you get to pass your knowledge onto the next generation, whether your parents have to bury their child (if they even have a body..).
      The reality is that alpine mountaineering is a dangerous and selfish sport that should only be undertaken by those who know and accept the risks. Don't sugarcoat it. This guy died way before his time trying to climb up and down a mountain.

    Much as I admired Ueli, climbing the way he did an accident was inevitable. At least he died doing what he loved best.

      Abhilash G J ...the problem is often compounded by comercial needs ...small time window , huge costs , trying to keep breaking records and then you can no longer back out if you feel bad vibes .....l've experience this kind of problems and pressures 22 years ago when technical diving first broke in Europe ...

    I am not a climber but I understand how commercialise the Everest summit has become.
    People go there like its a national park.
    If he had done this, He would have brought back the excitement of conquering Mt. Everest again.
    He was a pure soul and a great mountaineer.
