Great stuff! A repeat of Martin Moran and Simon Jenkins undertaking, do the 4000 m peaks and bike in between, although they didn't paraglide off ... See Martins's book Alps 4000.
Martin Moran and Simon Jenkins did 75, their criteria was 35m higher than its neighbor in 1993, with minimal sponsorship and friend support also cycling between bases. 51 days 13 1/2 hours.!!!!
I will always wonder if the stress of this goal, affected his performance on Lotshe Traverse and caused him to die.PLUS: He lost his friend Martin on that last 82 summit run....PLUS: there was a heated altercation in everest camp which could have messed up his focus for that climb on Lotshe. PLUS: he had recently been interviewed and told his interviwer "i feel empty" And repeated it two more times in the interview. 😞
Really nice guy. Obviously with speed soloing it was only a matter of time before his number came up. "To the dead, one owes respect. To the living, only the truth." Voltaire
TheChuky18 One of the best things for you to start with is get into rock climbing and do as many hikes as possible. They don't need to be technically difficult but they must be long and test your endurance. Before long you meet loads of people who share your same interests and these people are the ones you'll end up climbing with. Don't fuss about owning the best equipment from day 1 as the only way you can really learn is by trial and error. However, investing in some high end hiking boots and some great outdoors clothing is a decent start. And from there you learn your strengths and weaknesses. Where to improve and how to go about doing it. Don't be reckless but don't try play it too safe either.
Patrick Berhault tried and died attempting this...everybody thought it was impossible in 82 days...what a lesson for us mortals that even for us, our limits they might be way further than we imagine! Keep getting after it!

Bless you and yours Ueli. We spend so much time and effort chasing things. Please cherish the small humble relationships we have with each other here in this beautiful time of life. I try to love Christ our Lord immensely and try to care for each person my neighbor as best I can.
"a couple in Italy" Sorry to disappoint you Ueli (rip) but the 4000 in the Alps are, considering the shared peaks on the borders for more than one country, 51 in Swizerland, 37 in Italy, 24 in France...
Incredible achievement. Extreme endurance athletes actually have high risk of health problems in later life though, there's a low life expectancy due to your body simply being worn out early, the world needs more education about what is healthy.

Janica Moore that's an interesting question for any challenge - what counts as cheating. I think it depends on what the point of the challenge is. Ueli did a lot of speed ascents, and for those the stopwatch usually stops at the summit. I think this challenge was an extension of that. He wanted to string together 82 speed ascents, and commute between them using only human power.
