    RUN, IT'S GODZILLA!
    It looks like Godzilla but due to international copyright laws, it is not.
    STILL, WE SHOULD RUN LIKE IT IS GODZILLA.
    Though it isn't.
    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
    Jokes aside, I do like this film if just for nostalgia alone. Though I will admit, Zilla is no substitute for the real thing.

    People can call me foolish or ignorant all they want but honestly I find this and the recent 2014 movie to be the best, and yes its hard to criticize but its true, the effects and visuals and even audio make the two movies superior. I know full well that throughout the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and even early 90's, people weren't asking for 2001: A Space Odyssey effects and details, but, sorry, I can't get into a movie with rubber suits and miniature tanks, they aren't horrible movies but they aren't for me, and they just get so bloody overblown and over the top, and its almost like James Bond movies where Godzilla has to fight a new villain every ten minutes, hell I'm surprised evil oil barons trying to kill the dolphins or whatever didn't make it onto the rogues gallery Godzilla had to go through during his million movies line up throughout the years.Here are my three reasons why I like the 1998 Godzilla movie so much as well as some other small details.First, 1998 since I'm a bit more positively biased towards it.1: Child hood memories. I remember watching this movie so many times I practically had it memorized like the layout of RE 2 or something on the line. I knew every character, every scene Godzilla appears in (And yes, his name is Godzilla, if you want, I'll compromise and call him "America's Godzilla" because Zilla is just so damn pathetic a name to grant him) and even all of the important and semi-important plot points, I remembered it all, and loved it, did I think there was to much emphasis on the humans, yes, Godzilla deserved more screen time, that's my only major beef with the movie, and its like the kind of beef that makes you sigh and shake your head more than anything, you know?2: The Cast. Now this is one I recently noticed, the cast for this movie, major and supporting roles, are all well cast, the four major characters Matthew Broderick (Can't remember his characters name, its a weird name so forgive that XD), Audrey, Roache and Victor were all diverse and interesting characters, each with their own morality and demons to confront and contemplate and all. The side characters were fun and unique to, like Roache's men, his French army soldiers were all fun to watch and enjoy palling around with. Others like the mayor and his aide (Which are minor jabs at Siskel and Ebert) were the typical sleezy mayor and bumbling aide types which are always fun to hate, The Sergeant guy who is played by the actor who I swear is in every movie ever but you never remember his name, you know the one! And so on so forth, they were written well, and acted well. Win win, the dialog was just campy enough to chuckle at but also well written enough to be taken mostly seriously.3: Godzilla's Design: Godzilla in this movie looks so different than he usually does, that it makes it standout in the best of ways. I loved his sleek redesign, his new and much better roar, some of his powers being changed or stripped away was not a bad change, making him vulnerable like he was in the very original Godzilla was decent because it makes it more tense for both sides now, and so on. I also love the detail on Godzilla, sure, some scenes are pretty obviously CG'd, but some scenes look absolutely astounding still to this day for me, nothing awe inspiring, but impressive nonetheless, like his eyes and even the way he moves and breathes really sells to me that this is a mutated creature made from the fallout of nuclear tests. It adds to it a lot. I also like the fact that instead of a tank like design, he is again sleek and maneuverable like a Jeep of some sorts, made more for quick light attacks than slow heavy attacks. The destruction scenes that he is involved in, my god, awesome, though there isn't a lot, its still better than the obvious model tanks and buildings some fat guy is knocking over, these buildings actually look and are life sized and are exploding and being burned and all that, it makes things much more shocking.Couple other things I liked in this movie, I liked the baby Godzilla's, I know I know they basically turned it into Jurassic Park light but they were still a fun addition and creepy nonetheless, The Ending, I love, Godzilla being defeated was a unique spin we haven't seen in awhile and the egg hatching followed by Puff Daddies "Come with Me", that was just awesome and always made me excited for the sequel that would never be sadly. Speaking of the music, my last point is the soundtrack, besides the two licensed songs (Come with me by Puff Daddy and Heroes by The Wallflowers), the orchestral work by David Arnold is commendable, and is easily one of the best things in this underrated gem of a science fiction monster movie.Overall, I give this movie a high rating, it is probably my favorite mostly due to nostalgia but all the points I made are my critical personal opinion on it, is it flawed? Sure, but they all are, my favorite Star Wars movie, Return of the Jedi, has flaws, but its still my favorite movie in the saga. And Godzilla 1998 is my favorite Godzilla movie by far, and is the one I recommend over any of the Toho releases in my personal opinion.If I had to grade it, I'd probably give it a 7 out of 10.

    Godzilla 1998 fucking love this version of the king of monsters and the sequel aka Godzilla the series corrected any mistakes that 98 did make which in my opinion was only a few. This version is so unique I'll always love this movie as much as the legendary Godzilla and any others. The film sequel had an amazing script but so many judged 98 it was scrapped. Like it or not 98 kept the name of Godzilla alive and reinvigorated the entire beast.

    The people of Viacom Media Networks should consider showing the 1998 Godzilla movie on the Nickelodeon/Nick at Nite channel for a change and do graphics animations for the promos and "brought to you by..." advertisements, especially with the logo with the green layers at 1:25-3:14-5:16.

    If you want to see a review of "Godzilla 1998" from the perspective of one who loves it, take a look at mine. My video is called 'Misunderstood Movies. Episode 1: "GODZILLA (1998)."'
    Unlike some Zilla fans, I'm one who's unbiased. I give the movie a fair & honest review. I kindly defend it (not ranting at all) while talking about why the Godzilla fan base hates on it,

    • @Jurassic1993Park

      No problem, man. It's always great to have another Jurassic Park fan to talk to. And I'll be sure to check out your video tomorrow about the film ;)
      I actually have Godzilla 1998 on DVD, and while I do agree that it has some flaws, I still find it enjoyable. Though, I'm pretty much hyped up for Gareth Edwards' Godzilla. DAT TRAILER MAN.

      ***** Yo! Yes, I'm a BIG "Jurassic Park" fan! You excited for "Jurassic World" in 2015?
      I have the 'Monster Edition" DVD of "Godzilla 1998" myself. Strangely (and this is just me talking), I personally can't find any flaws in the film whatsoever. And I'm a film buff, I've analyzed & studied it for a long time and, yeah, that's my personal conclusion about it. It's a guilty pleasure of mine for the sole fact that I love it, but everyone else hates it. Go figure, huh?
      So yeah, check out my review of it whenever you have time, no rush. Feel free to leave a comment if you wish. I'm gonna be uploading another review video soon. I'll let you know when and what it will be about if you're interested.

    • @Jurassic1993Park
      @Jurassic1993Park  9 лет назад +2

      I did, and I loved it. It was my first time watching a Godzilla film on the big screen, and it didn't disappoint...mostly.
      The gripes I have with the movie are mostly the same as everyone else's: the human characters apart from Bryan Cranston and maybe Ken Watanabe were not that interesting; Aaron Taylor-Johnson's acting was so incredibly wooden that it almost bored me to sleep, and I've never had that happen with any film I've seen; Bryan Cranston's character shouldn't have died so early on.
      Despite all that, I enjoyed the film immensely. Godzilla was terrific every time he appeared on screen (I'm actually one of the few people who didn't mind his screentime, because I believe sometimes less is more), loved Alexandre Desplat's score, the cinematography was excellent, as were the MUTOs and the fight scene at the end. Dear god that finishing move was so awesome that my best friend who I went with to see the film, whispered to me: "Fatality".
      Also I freaking adore that opening scene.
      So that's pretty much what I think of the film, yeah. Also, holy crap. Found out recently that I have a thousand subscribers now. Might wanna do something special because of that. Probably a reaction video to the upcoming Jurassic World trailer.

    • @velociraptor4you3291
      @velociraptor4you3291 9 лет назад +1

      ***** Cool to hear from you about "Godzilla 2014!" :0 For the most part, I do agree with you on your points. Although now that I've seen it about five times now, the human characters (including Bryan Cranston) are growing on me.
      If you know a RUclipsr/G-Fan named GORIZARD, he recently posted a video on his channel that's a two-part defense/analysis of 2014. Check his channel, give it a watch, and you'll see that there's more depth to Aron-Taylor Johnson, Elizabeth Olson, and Ken Watannabe's characters.
      I two am on the 'less is more' side, so I didn't mind Godzilla's screentime as well. He OWNED every single scene that he was in (so did the MUTOS, they were surprisingly COOL original Kaijus). Everything else you brought up, spot on! All in all, Gareth Edwards put together something AWESOME! :D
      The "Jurassic World" trailer. Oh, dude, I'm so PSYCHED! You should totally do that.

    • @Jurassic1993Park
      @Jurassic1993Park  9 лет назад

      I can't wait for the Godzilla sequel. Man, Mothra, King Ghidorah and Rodan are gonna be in it. Consider me HYPED. 8D
      As for the reaction video, I'm really thinking about doing it, although the camera I have doesn't have that great of quality.

    • @velociraptor4you3291
      @velociraptor4you3291 9 лет назад

      ***** Oh, I didn't know you and GORIZARD go back. me and him talk about Godzilla (and other films) occasionally, we've even had nice, pleasant conversations about "Godzilla 1998." His opinion on it is 'it's a terrible Godzilla adaptation, but a decent, fun monster flick on it's own.' I for one sure can respect that. And you're quite welcome. :)
      I have no idea how Gareth Edwards is gonna balance FOUR Kaiju in "Godzilla 2." Maybe he'll introduce them over the course of two films (it was announced that he's planning on a trilogy). Either way, I'm looking forward to the sequel as well, man.
      Hmmm...well, if that's the case, you could do the video with like background music, pictures, and on-screen text. Just a suggestion.

      Both sucked in my opinion. I'm sticking with my GMK. And yeah, 14 did have the real Godzilla in it. Godzilla himself was fucking beast! But both fell flat and completely missed their target. Which was supposed to make us care about the protagonists. Both only have 1 likable character and both have little screen time. Both had very little Godzilla or Zilla and both were way too long. Both ripped off a better movies (98 with Jurrassic Park and 14 with Cloverfield. At least with the Mutos). Both were successes at the box office and both are controversial among the fandom. Their both 5/10 for me personally. Why can't we all just stop arguing on these movies and look at the future of the franchise (Because I won't lie, the new ones look promising) or stare in awe at the previous installments. Especially the Millennium era and Heisei era.
