I would say your videos are legendary already. I watch to learn. I am a union carpenter in a major city, only 4 years on the job, and have never framed yet. to be honest, I struggle with the aptitude for layout and framing. watching your vids gives me inspiration and hope that maybe one day Ill frame. Im sure a lot of us carpenters are watching and grateful for your amazing content. Thank you , Matt!

We used to use aquanet hairspray to cover our chalk lines. Cost about half as much and you can find it anywhere. I’m sure that clear spray paint lasts longer and you don’t look nearly as weird buying a couple cans on the way to work in the morning, but hey, it still works. And as any woman will tell you, it’s as waterproof as it gets.

    • @MattBangsWood

@@MattBangsWood , Yep, well it used to. I’m sure they’ve changed the formula to cut down on the VOCs and you are in crazy California so God only knows. But it used to just be a basic lacquer with a scent added. But it’s a couple bucks a can so it’s not much to give it a try.

Matt, why do you not use a weather barrier between your bottom plate and concrete? I’m not a professional so I’m just wondering.

I normally do! But I will admit it's a new thing for me (nobody in CA uses one). I had bought 5 rolls for this house and had them in my truck, it came time to stand walls and we just threw them up. Episode 8 you'll see me fix this, lol.
