    As the game progresses and technology (ie training tools) progresses, the NFL game is going to have less and less "strong and FAT linemen". As Alex points out numerous times here, footwork and evasive agility wins you more battles at the trenches than any amount of brute strength. A combination of footwork, agility, AND strength is what the apex lineman should be. Aaron Donald is the epitome of that. We're seeing it first hand over the last 5 years in the NBA and I feel like we will inevitably see it in the NFL over the next 5-10 years. Linemen will be shredded 6'2"-6'4", 275 pounds, sitting at 8-10% body fat. The game is going to get even faster and faster across all positions.

    First player to completely master the cross chop move that is currently sweeping the league, many many state players currently training in Atlanta in order to get this live down while Donald has already had it as a prime move in his arsenal for a while, it’s not even funny how advanced and dominant he is. Im already ready to say he is the best defensive lineman ever and I do have a great feeling he will be the greatest defensive player ever when it’s all said and done for his career

    • @AlexRollinsNFL
      @AlexRollinsNFL  4 года назад

      He actually learned it from Robert Quinn when they were teammates

    • @tylerfox2487
      @tylerfox2487 4 года назад

      AlexRollinsNFL yeah I mentioned that in my other comment, he studied Quinns game against Seattle, and didn’t it originate from Osi Umenyiora(sorry I have no idea how to spell his name) brought it to the league? Furthermore my point is that Donald is the first player to completely master the move and uses it in a much more versatile and has it as such an integral part of his arsenal compared to other guys who use it more sparingly and not as a consistent move like Donald does. I’ve seen tape of Barrett getting a rush on a LT with a single hand using the cross chop, he literally doesn’t even use his right arm at all. It’s just crazy to think about how this move is a new trend among pass rushers and Donald was already ahead of the game and has been using it consistently for a decent amount of time

    • @tylerfox2487
      @tylerfox2487 4 года назад

      AlexRollinsNFL I guess I didn’t make another comment about Quinn, my bad, but yes it is interesting to know that Aaron Donald studies film from many other players, and then takes what they did and do it better

      When Suh played with him you could see there was a chasm in comparison to the two talents. Donald is so calculating and efficient. Suh flopped around with no discipline thinking he could just toss people.

    My question, is EVERY single movement intentional? Like around 7 minutes you mention that Donald misses the initial club so he positions hand on Skuls elbow to gain the advantage. Are those minor movements intentional and accurate or are players like Aaron Donald just that raw and talented?

    • @AlexRollinsNFL
      @AlexRollinsNFL  4 года назад +2

      Great question Matthew. Yes, every move is intentional. Donald and most everyone else is reacting to the Olineman during the down, which is crazy to think about. His jab and counter steps are preplanned, but hand movement after that is mostly reaction based

    Soon rules will change so you can't rush the passer. Offenses rely on rules changes to be competent, and this man proves they can't have high scoring tight games like plebs want.
    Personally I'd rather see a 17-10 game with great plays than a high scoring game because of rules hindering defenses.
