0:38 Funny story about Doom 1 and Doom 2's soundtrack: these soundtracks were composed by Bobby Prince. He was a skilled musician with MIDI equipment back in the early 90's (when the Doom games came out), but before that, he was also a copyright lawyer, having passed the BAR exam in 1980. The guys who worked on Doom 1 and 2 loved heavy metal and were really into popular metal bands at the time, like Pantera and Metallica. They wanted some badass metal for their game that could compare to the stuff they heard on the radio at the time, so they hired Bobby Prince because he had some experience with rock and metal, and while Prince did compose much of his own unique music for the Doom games, he also actually borrowed melodies and motifs from some popular metal songs at the time, including Pantera and Metallica. The song from the very first level, titled "At Doom's Gate", is the best example, as this song been debated as being inspired either by the opening to Master of Puppets or No Remorse, both of which are Metallica songs. Other notable songs that are more "Inspired" than the rest of the soundtrack include the intermission music between levels and multiple level tracks from Episodes 2 and 3. I wouldn't worry about being copyright claimed for this music, as the lawyer who penned it sure wasn't!
great show my fellow brit, I played the original dooms back in the day, they seemed high tech eye candy back then, just finished a play through on ps4 version today
The trick is, you need to use the "sprint" button to run faster so that you can skip across the gap. Platforming in doom is done with enough speed. My first experience with FPS games was Halo CE, so I just kinda thought that old games didn't have a sprint feature, which is why when I played Doom, I was surprised that it had a sprint function, although it's still different from modern games because modern games force you to lower your weapon and only sprint for a short time when you do so, whereas Doom allows you to run and gun. I think they put sprint into Doom back in the day because they thought people would get too disoriented from moving around at full speed all the time, although I'm so experienced with classic Doom at this point that I enable "Always run" on all my source ports.
I remember seeing my older cousin playing one of the older dooms either 1 or 2 on his pc way back when didn’t know what it was until I played it recently on PlayStation plus

At Doom 2, you suppose to sprint straight to their, try again but old doom game is kinda boring, just some slenderman game with demon, btw love the video man

Doom 64 didn't copy Mario 64's name. It just means that it was for the Nintendo 64
Where doom 2: master levels, final doom, doom 3: ressurection of evil, doom rpg, doom rpg 2, doom ressurection, doom 3: lost mission, doom vfr, doom pinball?
