The "shotgun" in the Army of Darkness might actually be a reference to AOD's S-Mart scene where Ash rapid fires a lever-action rifle (to the point that it might as well be a machine gun in its own right) at a rampaging Deadite that showed up just as Ash was recalling his adventures in Medieval Britain (barring his embarrassing/non-canon blunder of sleeping too long).
You really understated how difficult the Army of Darkness mod is, when it came out I did a no save run, and I can unironically say I'd rather pull my teeth out than do it again.
Great collection of mods! Out of all of these, I've only played both Ashes & Unloved, and I've played a LOT of mods. Can vouch for Ashes they are truly great. So good, I consider them to be standalone games rather than mods.
Since you brought up Doom mod combinations I thought I'd give a few of my own recommendations that I found fit like a glove: 1. Going Down wad + DN3DooM mod + Steve's flashlight mod.. basically transforms Doom into Duke Nukem 3D and with this skyscraper map set styled much in the way Duke Nukem 3D's psuedo-realistic maps were 2. Auger Zenith wad + NeoCore : Dark Depths mod.. it's a cyberpunk map set combined with cyberpunk weapons & enemies. Enough said. Can get tough though 3. Unfamiliar wad + Project Malice mod + NL Extra Guns mod + Hell's ambience music mod.. well it's the Doom maps redone in a detailed, creepy way (think Doom 3-ish), combined with a creepy enemy replacement mod, foreboding music set and a weapons mod which gives you firepower but restrictions along with said firepower. Works very well. 4. 2002 A Doom Odyssey - 10th Anniversary Edition wad + DoomRL Arsenal mod (enable weapons, monsters, plus all extras such as sounds, etc..). The 2002 A Doom Odyssey wad is a classic map set which is a sort of re imagining of the original Doom maps in a similar style. But can feel a little too vanilla. Adding the DoomRL Arsenal mod basically transforms it into this randomized, roguelike experience. Try it to see what I mean. 5. Lost Civilization wad + Brutal Doom mod. This is a set of mostly very open maps with amazing detailing and tons of enemies, and this gives you all the room you need to take on the Brutal Doom monsters with the Brutal Doom arsenal. Nice dichotomy between the picaresque landscapes and insane amounts of gore too. I put some detailed settings for these combos over in this thread: www.doomworld.com/forum/topic/127059-fav-gameplay-modwad-combo/?tab=comments#comment-2510402
If you enjoyed The Inquisitor III, then I highly recommend its spin-off Ascension. Even though it's a spin-off, it is actually longer to beat than The Inquisitor III. It features a ton of content, and the Russian into English translation quality received a huge improvement (the translation for the first two mods in the series is kinda average). Ascension is just as addictive, if not more, than The Inquisitor III.
Great list here. There're some I didn't know that I should try! And if I were to recommend some that I personally like, they'd be Hocus Pocus Doom and any of the Golden Souls mods. They are definitely a bit more colorful than the ones you've shown, but I still think they are just as good.
@@thereviewsbrothers3854 Awesome, looking forward to it. Colorful Hell is worth taking a look at as well. The channel IcarusLIVES has a video on both mods, if you want an idea of what you're getting into with them.

Another mod you should def check out, that i havent seen mentioned in the comments yet, is Blade of Agony. Its a TC that brings wolfenstein to doom, 3 episodes of scripted missions, tons of new, cool weapons, lots of interactivity, a hub map between missions with NPC to talk and trade with and lots more!
My own personal favorites right now for playing are Angelic Aviary (enemy replacement; gives you angels instead of demons who trade some health for wings and generally more dangerous attacks) combined with La Tailor Girl (several characters to play, all of whom focus heavily on getting and preserving armor in the form of various sets of clothing with a wide variety of special powers).
A lot of textures in Siren are from a texturepack converted from Doom 3. I love it and I am using it in one of my projects. Should continue to work on it 👍 currently I'm looking a bit more at whats out there. This video is very helpful.
I imagine you likely know about the new Doom+Doom 2 Definitive Edition that was just released on all platforms. What is so incredible is that finally, consoles now have full mod support. Just last night, I played Nuts Doom, a Brutal Doom mod, and Sunlust on my Series X. I believe all of these are available for download and play on console. Addendem- I am currently reviewing Doom+Doom 2 Definitive Edition across all platforms (Xbox Series X, PS5, Steam Deck, and Switch). The title includes Doom, Thy Flesh Consumed, Doom 2, Master Levels, Evilution, Plutonia, No Rest For The Living, Sigil, and Legacy of Rust. So far, all platforms have run well across the board. The only one that has had any trouble with the game is the Switch. Nuts Doom turned into a complete slide show on the Switch.

Yeah. I’ve only recently started using mods. I can’t believe how good most of them are! I would love a Jurassic Park one. But that doesn’t seem to exist.
Alright I'll throw my two cents into this pot. My favourite gameplay mod is Final Doomer, a mod by Sgt. Shivers and Yholl that adds weapon sets tailor-made for specific map sets including the IWADs, BTSX, Ancient Aliens, JPCP and more. The animations are smooth, many weapons have depth to their usage and the sound design is excellent across the board. My favourite set of maps is an impossible question but I'm going to give a shout to Sunlust by Ribbiks and Dannebubinga. Sunlust has a reputation for being extremely difficult that largely precedes it but that only really applies to Ultra-Violence. The lower skills are much more manageable. Take away the challenge of UV and you're still left with some of the finest levels ever put out. My favourite conversion sort of mod is Touhou Doom ~ Unusual Invasion of Fire and Brimstone, created by Untitled. Doomguy gets dropped into the magical land of Gensokyo and has to shoot his way through the youkai inhabitants and their beautiful bullet hell patterns in search of answers. The whole thing has this very amateurish charm to it, most noticeable in the mapping I think but its core is damn solid. I first played it knowing very little about Touhou but now I can say it was my gateway into that wild rabbit hole. I've played it all the way through five separate times and revisit small chunks of it constantly. Be sure to tweak GZDoom's automap settings so that it shows sprites though, the automap is a vital tool in Doomguy's kit for evading bullet patterns.
Personally, to me one of the most important mods is Hideous Destructor. @@thereviewsbrothers3854 I can't wait! There are a lot of good mods like The false spear and spear resurrection. A recent one I tried which was decent was the mind of evil. There are revolutionary mods you can try too like the witching hour!
MooN is essential
Wonder the author of Toys was influenced by Bad Toys 3D?
there's a bad toys easter egg on one map, in fact.
💪❤️🔥
I had the bad luck of trying to download the "Inquisitor 3" the game doesnt work ( something to do with script fireball ) noOne seems to care in forums, and dont even try to register there its a burocracy with passWord that the site whats y to choose... Ended up spending 2 hours on this doing nothing but reading crap
iddqd is godmode, just in case you didn't know 😊
I dont know you, but i'm sick of those "dark" environments ... it's a trope really over abused in this kind of games.
Sure doom had it's dark corridors moments... but yes "MOMENTS" not all the damn map/game.
So Devs please wake up and let us see wtf we are doing else it's not even worth wasting time on a black screen. Not it's worth wasting your time developing maps and whatever if we cannot see them.
*You forgot HDoom-*
no hdoom 0/10
@@kokletadsfjci agreed. Though last time I included hdoom in a video my entire channel got shut down after four hours and I had to start again (with this channel) 😅
Ashes 2023? Mad Max.......look at the gui, and just reoeat the enermy types, and listen to the sounds......
And do your research, and it's a 'geiger counter', in fallout the PipBoy.
Do you know what Fallout is?
Ffs 😂
Sorry but, that right there, has dropped your cred/knowledge right down the toilet. Not a single mention of fallout, in what is 100% fallout mod for doom, and 0% Mad Max (beyond the playable characters gloved hands?) 😂🙄🤨😬🤬😤😣😖💩
>calls it a doom mod
>runs on zdoom,
Sorry man but as far as purity cycles go, your next
man thanks for the videos but for the love of god, watch out for the repetitive use of "but", "and", and "so" in your scripts. it got to the point where i cant watch anymore.
Check mod called "Trenchfoot" and "Wolfenstein: Blade of Agony" - both are great.
