Yeah you are totally right, memorable soundtracks in this movie are all arrangements of well-known pieces from the 1830s-40s. The movie composer took credit for what he shouldn't have.
She loved and missed Albert terribly after his untimely death. Until her own decades later, she had a servant lay his clothes out on a bed every morning, as if nothing had changed.
Margielaw ...it was a great movie, but not very historically accurate.....the whole carriage ride/ Albert getting shot scene never happened.....although there were a number of attempts on Victoria’s life, nothing like that scene occurred...and I love that scene! It was so moving....they did argue over her reluctance to allow him any real responsibilities and somehow they did work through it, but not in the way portrayed in this film....still, loved the movie!
Queen Victoria ascended the throne at age 18 and ruled for 64 years while Queen Elizabeth II was crowned just shy of her 26th birthday and continues to be monarch for the last 67 years....and still counting. Both beautiful, elegant, and admirable women.
I want to learn to Waltz! PS: I am pretty sure the dance move at 1:50 - 2:08 automatically means you are going to fall in love...Sound of Music anyone?
ChooseYour Poison Yes--he was the younger son of one duke and brother of his successor. Victoria and Albert's second son, Alfred, would succeed Albert's brother as Reigning Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.
He didn't say he was going home TO Brussels, he said he was going home VIA Brussels which means he was going to Brussels first, then go home, you fucking dumbass.
@@sheilaghbrosky His Uncle Leopold would have been Princess Charlotte’s consort/husband had she (& child) not died due to childbirth complications. Her death was even more tragic because of the fact that that she had been a very healthy young woman, until the horrid medical attention that she had received after becoming pregnant.
Heart stopping magical dancing with Prince Albert to a haunting piece of music. A lovely film and one to watch again and again and one which captures the Queen when she was still very young & rather vulnerable making her a much more attractive and romantic figure. So often we think of her as a stout, elderly woman but that's only a small part of her. At the time she became Queen she was very young (only 18) & we have never had such a young Monarch at any time since the early years of her reign.
I agree - too often when people think of Victoria they think of a fat elderly dour-faced woman with a hanky on her head, forgetting that she wasn't always like that. If you look at portraits of her as a young girl she was actually quite pretty, and was a graceful dancer and an accomplished horsewoman.
Even though she attained monarchy at a relatively young age, she was able to take the empire to enormously great heights. she is one of the greatest monarchs in British history and her memorial still stands high at promenade of the Buckingham palace which she lovingly nurtured.
+Amber Earls I'm sure initially Lord Melbourne was concerned in reference to losing the 'control' he held over Victoria after she married; however, he grew to truly admire Prince Albert. He certainly "respected" him after Albert put him in his proper place to let him know that he [Albert] was No pushover, gullible, nor would he entertain manipulations or fall for any deceptions [unlike his wife Victoria].
The show is so much better!😍 Believe me search it up. Season 1 Episode 4 Victoria and Albert dance... U won't regret it! Its so romantic and way more accurate😍😘
I would pay any kind of money for her dress! how gorgeous was the class and beauty of fashion of days gone by! Beautiful scene, one of the most romantic ones. Indeed one of my favorites.
I love ballroom dancing. I watch the old style waltz steps in videos like this. I get asked all the time where I took lessons. Modern variations remove much of the beauty of the waltz. The real beauty comes from smooth gliding and altering between face to face dancing and side-by-side. Steps that cater to the woman's beauty allowing others to see her grace and charm. The dance should ooze with grace and charm.
Prince Albert wasn't Belgium: Albert Francis Charles Augustus Emmanuel of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha was born on August 26, 1819, at Schloss Rosenau, in Bavaria.

I wonder how they filmed the bit where she floats towards him - is there someone out there with a background in film or theatre who can describe how they do it? Is she standing on a skateboard or something?
Queen Victoria also known as ( Alexandrina Victoria ) came to the throne on the 20th of June 1837 after the death of her uncle King William IV. She reigned for 63 years and seven months , 1837-1901 almost 64 years.
SOME WONDERFUL comments here-- I take my hat off---------just me here with the dog and the cat--- time to watch this beautiful movie for a second time---------
Oh, learning it is quite easy. One man once asked me to dance the waltz (Viennese waltz, that is) and I said I had never danced it before. "No problem" he said. You just sort of walk along! :D
yes. It is quite easy to learn a simple waltz... it took me only about thirty minutes to learn the steps.... its just the learning to travel that makes it somewhat hard XD
Anyone know where I can find this piece of music or even the name?! Such a great film, I watched it for the first Tim yesterday and watched it again straight after that and then watched it again this morning and now I might go watch it again.... I think there is something wrong with me.... But if anyone knows the name of this piece PLEASE tell me!!!!!
They would bathe with a ewer and basin. You strip off, stand on a towel, wet a washcloth in the basin and soap up. Then you wipe off the suds with a washcloth dipped in clean water.
Yes she was pregnant within two months of the wedding. No surprise, really - if you read her journal, she and Albert pretty much went at it like rabbits during their three day honeymoon
I hate how inaccurate Victorian movies are. The women in Victorian era are very very pale, with fluorescent red lips. They are rather thick and full, especially conglomerates, let alone a queen. A skinny women was looked down upon in the 17th to 18th century.
I love how she seems to float towards him. Like she is in a dream.
She had Heelys on

Verdade
For anyone who might be wondering, the waltz is "Benedette queste carte!" from the opera "L'elisir d'amore" by Donizetti.
Pre114 Thank you! Superb! The sountrack movie's musician Ilan Eshkeri won't give the correct credits, and for a moment i think its own inspiration.
Yeah you are totally right, memorable soundtracks in this movie are all arrangements of well-known pieces from the 1830s-40s. The movie composer took credit for what he shouldn't have.
is there I can find it without the singing I can't find it anywhere and I just want the music!!!
Thank you!!
This is a lovely waltz, beautiful scene!
The movie too!
Pre114,Thanks, I didn't think it was a Strauss waltz, but didn't know from where it came or who the composer was .

Gunnar Thorsen And hot water laid out for shaving
Gunnar Thorsen And hot water.
Beautiful movie .... a lovely couple and this waltz danced beautifully,
The English are great for recreating these films.
Margielaw the PBS series about Queen Victoria and Prince Albert is really good, also. Just waiting for the 2nd season to begin.
will check this out on NETFLIX

RIP to Queen Elizabeth II
I love old movies like this. They are sad, happy and sometimes death and I love the clothes the women wear.
"old movies"? Are you aware about that this film is from 2009?
yes I am I'm saying I love the gowns from back then from the Queens and all.
Also this is about the Queen of England from the 1800's!
Bunny Towne 1837 to 1901
Period films :) Yes, I agreee
0:55 She was in a skateboard and nothing will convince me otherwise
This part when they're dancing is magical :3

Emily Blunt es hermosa! La verdadera reina Victoria era fea.
Just for the record: Prince Albert was not a prince of Belgium. He was prince of "Saxe-Coburg-Gotha," part of modern day Germany.
The part where all her family looks at each other knowing quite well that Albert was the one was spot on acting so great
Ok I'm surprised no one else picked this up -- Albert was NOT from Belgium -- he was from a German principality.
I picked it up too - he was from Saxe-Coburg

3:23 Does anyone know the name of the music that plays right after this, when Victoria is dancing with the Prince of Prussia?
Quadrille Music lol
Contredanses-Johann Strauss :)
It's ironic...The Prince of Prussia son will marry Queen Victoria's eldest daughter, Princess Victoria (Viki).
This gives me hope, that it's not impossible to find true love
He was german
this is beautiful really moving to watch them dance together .
Ah I only hope I can have a love like this one day, so beautiful!
My Good God what a heavenly music!
Hands Down, Claire Foy is the BEST person to play as a Real Queen! - Her portrayal of Young Queen Elizabeth II!
That's Emily Blunt

The walzer comes from the Donizetti's opera buffa "L'elisire d'amore" (the original aria is known as "Della crudele Isotta")
😍😍😍 victoria asi se llamara mi hija 😊
It is a magical moment as they are dancing
Actually Albert was Prince of Coburg-Gotha, which is in Saxony, Germany. His uncle however was King of Belgium.
And his aunt was Victoria's mother.
Love the waltz they look awesome together
And the real queen Victoria was chubby and shorter than prince Albert's shoulders. But their love was a jewel. The actors in the movie are so good!
you will notice that these waltzes are better than the bombastic j.strass waltz....
r cwieka The Laendler waltz is very graceful.
Wow this makes me smile I live how you could see the love in their eyes :-P
I’m only here for the wonderful music 😍

The actress is a little too tall in this portrayal.
Well, Victoria herself was absolutely tiny - four foot ten - and it would be hard to find an actress of that stature today
Thought Victorai was short and flat chested...
Thank you.lovely music, dance, movie.
Are the dancing a real dance, or is it just a choreography for the film?
I was about to write that. Glad someone else knows the composer, opera, and aria title. :)
Maravillosa melodía.
I wonder how they filmed the bit where she floats towards him - is there someone out there with a background in film or theatre who can describe how they do it? Is she standing on a skateboard or something?
A moving platform or reducing the background digitally
Karma-rose Lai ok
May I ask who's playing Prince Albert here?
Rupert Friend.
Parececwueve Orlando Bloom

SWEET NOTES OF THIS LOVELY WALTZ...AMAZING
I didn't realize Queen V had Heelies back then!
This song is beautiful.
Where can I get a copy of the waltz in this film?
Dancing schools. Find one. ;) (Oh, and find a partner as well. That could be a difficulty nowadays.)
And the one in the 2009 Emma!! They do that same move! There should be a collection of movie clips with all the falling in love dances. :)
I love this movie. I am so sad Victoria ended.
2:46 Give way to the young, Lord M. Give way to the young
How can i get this piece of music on utube?
My favorite movie ever
too long an introduction....wasted 1:20 min of listening to them yap....if I wanted that, I'd go watch the movie.
+Vesna Hill what you call yapping, is our peoples tradition and is strongly associated with our culture. It is verbal communication between a couple.

I love her entrance.
I came for the 🐕.

I believe other couples can join in after the first movement. (that's the first movement of a concerto, not the first physical movement, lol)
ChooseYour Poison After the first circuit of the dance floor if not Royal
So well done
what´s the name of that song?
