- No one does pining like Darcy.
Here's our favourite moments of Darcy's unexpected pining for Elizabeth Bennet in one of film and literature's greatest love stories, Pride and Prejudice!
What is Pride & Prejudice (2005) about?
Pride & Prejudice is a 2005 romantic drama film directed by Joe Wright, in his feature directorial debut, and based on Jane Austen's 1813 novel of the same name. The film features five sisters from an English family of landed gentry as they deal with issues of marriage, morality and misconceptions. Keira Knightley stars in the lead role of Elizabeth Bennet, while Matthew Macfadyen plays her romantic interest Mr. Darcy.

The part where Liz says “Perhaps you should take your aunt’s advice and practice.” and then it cuts to Darcy barging in the room trying to “practice” is just absolute comedic gold. 😂😂
Это решения самого актёра. Просто невероятно круто получилось!!!
And when he says "this is a charming house" out of nowhere 😂
Thats what i thought for the longest time, and then i later found out that he was there to propose to her and was so nervouse he bailed.
😂😂😂😂😂poor Mr. Darcy
Straight out of an The Office scene 😂
He is literally gobsmacked every time he sees her. Like he's been struck by lightning. Their acting is impeccable. So cute!
Definitely tongue-tied around Miss Elizabeth!
Every time I think of Mr . Darcy, the song there she goes, by the La's, comes to mind, I think that song is just playing repeat in his head the whole time
Lembrei de quando o Mikael Corleone vê pela primeira vez a moça com quem acaba se casando lá na Itália. "Como se fosse atingido por um raio."
If you think this is good acting you need to watch the 1995 adaptation with Colin Firth. Wayyyyyy better.
@CTKFS100%. To me he is the best Darcy.
Darcy is the perfect example of an introvert falling in love with an extrovert, and then having to express those feelings
She is not an extrovert rather an ambivert 😊
Quite, she wouldn't be considered an extrovert, at most normal; sociable when appropriate but frequently perfectly at home alone. Reading, walking, swinging, etc.
i think its just the reserved person falling for the person whos very confrontational (in a good way)
@everythingbykanwalyes
Elizabeth Bennett is an infp personality type. She likes people but needs time alone to recharge. She enjoys other worlds and romancitizers with characters in her head, she doesn't appease to societal norms and she enjoys nature plus a few more traits that identify her as one. FYI princess Diana and Marilyn Monroe were also INFPs. Love this movie and probably will read the book eventually lol. Also I am an infp personality type too. I think that's why I love this movie so much. 😊😊😊
He doesn’t smile much in this movie but MAN when he does it is beautiful!
He has an extremely expressive face... And his eyes... Oh man...
@ThoughtfulPotato *swoons*
oh girl if he did smile more we would all be lost lol
Thats why his smile is so precious❤
My crush is exactly like this. I swear, I never saw him smile for a full year (we're co-workers) and then one day, I think I said something mildly amusing and BOOM. He smiled and laughed just a little. I was not prepared, it threw me off for a second. The difference in his face was night and day, it was almost jarring.
I never realized until recently how many similarities my crush has to Mr. Darcy. He also has very guarded expressions, and is quite stoic and not very forward. Here's the kicker, we didn't make a great first impression with each other at all, I was convinced he didn't really like me all that much when we first met.
The way Elizabeth snaps her book shut when he mentions that to deserve his favor, a girl must read 😂
Exactly! One of my favorite things to point out. Their banters were really fun to watch, lol.
She knows how to stick up for herself and it is hilarious to watch in the film. 😂
The fact too, that he glanced at her book when mentioning it 😂
"Guess I'm never reading again. Shame"
She realizes he’s talking about her! Lol McFayden is so tall! He’s gotta be at least 5.6 or 6 foot
I think it is so cute once you’ve watched the whole film, and realize that he isn’t standing at the piano to frighten her as she suspected. He is standing there to watch and admire her as he usually did with Georgianna. It was an act of love that she didn’t comprehend yet.
To do that under the watchful eye of his aunt... choices.
When you watch the whole dinner scene at Lady Catherine's you can see his gaze following her all the way around the table. It's brilliant because I've seen that very behavior IRL. Keep your eye on him during the conversation and you'll see the moment he thinks "Oh God, I'm soo sorry. But also kind of impressed." 😂
The little things you notice after you watch only make you want to watch again lol I can’t stop
Maravilhoso este filme 🎥
Mr Darcy is THE Most distinguished extremely handsome man in the world! His wife is so blessed
Never forget the part where they’re in a convo and Mr Darcy is like “what do you suggest to encourage affection?” and Elizabeth says “dancing. Even when one’s partner is barely tolerable” and so mans musters his courage at the next ball to ask her to dance 😅
Oh yes! Only caught this point now ❤
I caught that too
🤯 Never looked at it like!
Is quite interesting how he says "perfectly tolerable", but then later she says "barely tolerable". Elizabeth did listen to him, but she was so offended she had to strike back lol
"I thought you were in London....?"
".....no........ no I'm not....."
"........no."
LMFAO
I am very fond of walking….YES🤣🤣🤣🤣
@vidahpaz5921 Yes I know 💀💀
🤦🏼♀️
"Tomorrow we will go to Matlock." 😬
"TOMORROW?????"😱😱
🏇🚣♂️🏊♂️🚵♂️🏃♂️
@lucapellari5985 😂😂😂
I love that he answers “she is upstairs” to her question about her sister. It shows his panic, that he was so overcome by feelings he wasn’t even listening. Because she didn’t ask WHERE, she asked HOW. 😂
LOL. I didn't even catch that😂
And you can see how she'd think "oh he's trying to get rid of me"
Wow. You're a very deep thinker. I myself don't know even one accomplished woman, who was not previously a man.
@guitardaddy6loooooool
That's what I thought
I’m only 30 seconds in and I never realized how many times he showed his attraction to her. The movement is so subtle but definitely there. Great acting.
I watched this movie over 20 times… and still counting.
He is my favourite Mr Darcy for this reason. His subtle pinning is almost invisible unless you look for it. I didn’t notice it till i read the book then rewatched the movie and he’s just perfect
Totally and remember it took me I think 2 watches of the movie to catch on when Elizabeth talks about how dancing can show affection or when Darcy helps Elizabeth into the carriage hand-to-hand, and then he walks away, his hand, shaking you know what I mean, and then at the next dance, Darcy asks her to dance! Oh wow, wait didn’t you just say to prove and show affection that the best way is dancing? 🤭😍
In that time period, a man always stood when a lady entered the room. It was etiquette
It took me a rewatch to catch Darcy following Elizabeth at the dance and then turning away, too shy to ask her to dance. He was right there!
"This is a charming house." Is the equivalent of "Nice weather we're having." Darcy is absolutely adorable. ❤
His abrupt departure and the sound of his horse running away makes me laugh
@anaquot it's like he's saying "ABORT ABORT ABORT."
Basically, and after she responds in the nicest (kinda backhanded towards mr collins) way, he's like "dammit, that was lame". but it's just the smallest inflection in his face and hands when he realizes it was a stupid ice breaker and now he's got NO follow up.
That scene has become one of my most favorite of the movie, it never fails to make me laugh. Poor man stood there, hands shaking and probably very sweaty, mind short-circuiting, and he's like, "This is a charming house." He's so whipped for her, it's adorable.
He IS absolutely adorable
This is my favorite version of Pride and Prejudice. The chemistry between these two actors shines so brightly in their performances. I love Matthew Macfadyen's Mr. Darcy.
he's so wooden.
This is by far the best version ❤
@sarator2074 who told you that?
@mallorywingate103her own opinion and feelings
The film is real perfection
This movie is one of those deep movies that did not need so many kissing scenes to build romance. The romance was subtle and built up perfectly that no kisses were needed to show their affections to one another. I really love this movie!
the hands scene was enough. it was a statement.
I think that’s one of the many reasons I am so obsessed with it.
This wht is best about jane austen era writers unlike modern novels where kisses and lust are ao fundamental. Modest love stories are classy
My favorite movie
Em partes. Por exemplo, eu sou uma pessoa que gosto de me manifestar com toque. Não consigo sentir o amor de alguém sem ela me tocar. Então, pra mim faltou o beijo ardente
The scene of the nearly kiss after she refuses him in the rain is a master piece. You feel how they both are dying to kiss each other. What a great performance and chemistry. You tell me I have to watch this movie every day and I would have no problem.
i watched it for the first time a week ago and have watched almost everyday so far. there are many elements that draw me to it
My favorite scene, makes me feel butterflies in my stomach every time 😍
The most romantic scenes- his hand after helping her into the carraige, the rain after Church, his smile when he's introducing Georgiana, and his walking through the field in the morning!
Well I think just Mr.Darcy want to kiss her
@AutumnRose17543 he looks at her with disbelief, after she said “even if you are the last man in the world, I still won’t marry you.” But Elizabeth realized late that she was also drawn to him. ( , sorry for mistake)
I’ll never get tired of watching these two.
Omg, same. 🥰🤗♥️
Same!
Just watched it again on my flight back home 2 weeks ago!!
me too
i love them story too much
I adore the Colin Firth version but Mathew made Darcy so real with his social anxiety and being tongue-tied around Miss Elizabeth!
The fact that he not only says "I love you" to her but to add "most ardently" right after, not only tells me that he's desperately in love but takes it to a level of enchantment, you can't help falling in love with Mr Darcy. 💖😍💖😍
Omgsh!! yes exactly what I've been thinking the last 15 years!!
When they are fighting in the rain & she rejects him he quietly says "please", I melted, so hard
The break in his voice when he says "most ardently" 🏃♀️😩
💕
I don't remember him saying "please". I'll have to go back and watch again!
You know one thing no one talks about is the fact that she rejected him so hard when he proposed, most men would just immediately get defensive and hate on her but he didnt, i mean, at the time he proposed he did slip up and was a little too honest but he took it on the chin and when he saw her again he was still loving her and being kind towards her. I mean that scene when he caught her in his house (doesnt sound good out of context) that was the first time he saw her after he had just completely laid himself bare to her in an age that very much devalued women and he still treated her with respect. Like it just adds so much to his character overall and why hes a solid dude.
Very solid dude ❤
That’s exactly why I love Mr. Darcy, he valued her and didn’t force himself upon her.
That's everything. He realized he was lacking, that her refusal was based on merit, and even if she wouldn't change her mind he was determined to be a better man.
And at the end when he says "my feelings have not changed but one word from you would silence me forever"
A man written by a woman ❤
I never noticed his feelings for her portrayed so clearly in his eyes until I rewatched the movie as an adult.
The 1995 bbc mini series shows it well also.
@vikinggoddess2126 not really...bbc version is quite superficial
@minus21334Superficial? 😂
More accurate in a lot of things, more loyal to the book.
C'mon, the costumes in 2005 were dreadful, nothing like the real Regency fashion.
Lizzie's dress in the first ball it's a desastre, looks like she's going to kill a pig in the farm, not elegant, not proper palette of colours for young ladies, etc.
How can I get the movie? Is it in RUclips?
@abeautifulmind5765it’s on youtube now with ads!
He loved her from the moment he saw her. It just took time to soften his heart to her.
Not to be contradictory but personally I don't think he left her from the moment he saw her. I think He liked her as she realized her with and brilliance in keeping her mother in line and shifting the conversation with a joke (hence why he stumbles when he asks her what someone should do to encourage affection), but think he loved her from the moment when she revealed she had overheard him talking poorly on her, and called him on his bullshit right to his face, but in a way no one but him would understand (dancing, even if one's partner is barely tolerable).
Intellectually she is not only his match, she can outpace him. I don't think he loved her the first time he saw her but he loved her the first time he really hurt her speak. And that is very Mr Darcy. He would never fall in love with her beauty first.
@lauralouwhoooLove at first sight can happen! It happened to me, unfortunately! A one-sided, tragic love. I still love him warts, wrinkles and all, and I hope he can be happy at last with the woman he chose. 😭
" You must know. Surely, you must know. It was all for you." 😭💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘
He is such a lovesick fool it's adorable
I was wondering why Lizzy just said "Well then" .. held and kissed his hand and said " your hands are cold". When I looked backed the scene, when Mr. Darcy first proposed to Lizzy, he said "I love you. Most ardently. Please do me the honor of accepting my hand" but then Lizzy didnt accept it that time.. Now I understand, that when she held and kissed his hand was more than enough than saying I love you too.
I always wondered why she never said I love you till the end. That was absolutely brilliant screenplay and acting. And you for noticing it😊
Now I have seen the movie countless times, since 2007
Thank you for that insight, I hadn't picked up on it.
Also, he says “one word front you will silence me forever”, so she doesn’t say anything about it…
Ohhh! 😱 after all these years i finally get it. Thank you! 😂
I just watched it again and these observations are 😮
They could not have gotten a better Mr. Darcy. I loooveeee them 🥰🥰
You're riiiiight
Colin Firth....a great Mr Darcy.
But there is a better one ! 1995
@ripvisitor fossil taste is not welcomed here
@iwaisman not better, but not even lesser, I can confidently say on par
I watched an interview where he says he felt under casted for this role which is absolutely insane to me, he was PERFECT.
I think it's pronounced 'pahfect' 🥰
He was probably being modest.
That small boyish smile after he has talked to Elizabeth’s father…..adorable ❤❤
Right? I always make sure I watch that. There is just something about that instance
❤❤❤
He looks so young & vulnerable as he watches her walk through the door.
such a cute moment in the book i love how they translated it in the movie
This is a wonderful example of how love should be. Respectful and genuine.
His little hand twitch when he is really uncomfortable but admiring her all the same is really good nonverbal acting.
Hand twitch was seen as a sign of love in Indian culture
someone told me to watch his hands during the movie and so that’s what i did the first time i watched it AND OMG. there’s so much subtlety in his acting, he’s got these little fidgety hand movements that add to darcy’s whole aura of awkwardness :D
I never noticed that before but now the cottage scene has a whole new layer of meaning. Wow he speaks with his hands for sure. That is why the hand flex moment was so significant.
His hands at 6:56
Yes his hands through the whole movie is chef kiss acting and directing.
That's the director. Don't get me wrong, Matthew MacFadyen is incredible in this. But you're right the director specifically uses a hands to express passion, particularly in period films. Which I think is brilliant because you need ways to keep emotional tension building, and you also need forms of touch (or lack of it) that make sense for the time period.
He uses this same device with Keira Knightley and James McAvoy in Atonement. Check out the fountain scene.
I read the book when I was 15-16. Manifested my own Mr. Darcy at 29. He and I have been together for 3 years and counting ❤
I am 26 now and still waiting for my own Mr. Darcy to appear.
I am so happy for you! Congratulations!❤
Manifested 💀
Manifesting for my Mr Darcy😢
This is ridiculous but... at 26
Manifesting my own Mr. Darcy ♥️
The way he says "I lo- lov- love you" so trepidatiously at 8:26 just gets me every time.
It say's that the actor was nervous. It was one of his first movies. It was not planned that Darcy starts to stutter...but they kept it in the movies, cause they loved it😊
That's what I've heard
@graceblake8425that is ... Not what the director said about it
Matthew Macfadyen is such a gifted actor, after watching Succession I rewatched Pride and Prejudice and I'm just amazed at the subtleness of his expressions and how natural they seem. He's every bit a worthy successor to Colin Firth.
I've been a huge fan of Macfayden since seeing him in MI-5. I found him so memorable that I remembered him having a huge role in the show but he was actually in it little. One of my favorite of his movies is Death At A Funeral. He is so subtly funny.
@mortimerbrewster3671 Death At A Funeral is iconic, best comedy film ever!
He was brilliant in Succession! I have loved him since he was a British spy!
Same!!! @mortimerbrewster3671
I loved him especially in The Hobbit movies
One thing that often gets overlooked in this film is the exquisite musical score. Quite sublime, and perfect for the time period.
Shout out to Charlotte who is the only person who noticed Darcy’s inner struggles ❤
Perhaps, being an introvert herself
When he smiles in 7:14😍😍😍😍😍 what a fine specimen of a man
This is literally the most perfect movie
YES IT ABSOLUTELY FUCKING IS
I KNOWWWWW ❤❤❤❤❤
Looking back to this movie following the actor's success is insane. You got Tom Wambsgans, the CEO of Waystar Royco as Mr Darcy, then you got Elizabeth Swann, Amy Dunne, Daisy Buchanan, Johanna Mason as the Bennet sisters. Then also President Coriolanus Snow as the father of the Bennet sister. This movie's casting is absolutely awesome
I mean, did he really think that, "you are a horrible match for me, and your mother and sisters are goofy as all get out, but I love you anyway; I demand you marry me," would go over well as a proposal? Still love him, though. He did much better the second time.
He really, really did. Like you really thought 'in every conceivable way this doesn't work and I would be marrying down, but I love you so much I'm willing to do' was a good thing to say 🤣
Well. He is being honest, at least.
In his innocence .. he was being totally honest. That's how it was in the 1800's, he definitely would have been marrying down and she knew it .. he was willing to give up all the social norms for her. But she was being prideful ..
"Goofy"😂😂😂😂
The way you have worded sounds insulting but the way Darcy has said it in the scene just sounds like he's being too honest. Sometimes I feel he's Autistic coded . Proposing can be quite hard 😅.
4:38 I love the way he says no when she asks if she should call for tea. He's so exhausted already by his own anxiety, it's beautiful work Matthew Macfayden does
2:22 his EYEEEEES
His SMIIIIILE!!
okay the way he smiles at her when she meets georgiana is SO ADORABLE??😭💕
I loved the dad in this movie. He loved Lizzy so much and genuinely wanted to make sure his daughter wasn’t marrying Darcy out of force. He just wanted her happy
As it is in the book.
When her dad says You really do love him don't you?
The tears and joy he had for her. ❤Mr Donald Sutherland was truly a wonderful actor and is missed 😢❤
I love how expressively vulnerable he became after the first proposal. It’s all in his eyes. He looks at her with more admiration and he’s not trying so hard to hide it anymore. His eyes are kind and less afraid. He’s more present and less in his head. I love it!
*I am not ashamed to say this is one of my top 5 favorite movies of all time*
ME either!!!❤❤
I am not afraid to admit I’m in my 60’s and I have a picture s of “the hand” and Mr. Darcy coming out of the mist framed in my study. Sigh. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
So which other ones are on that list? I can always use good film recommendations 🤩
@nicimie well I can suggest one….bbc North and South but I warn you……be prepared to “fall” for another tall dark handsome man, a strong woman, and a love story to match. Fun fact, when it finished airing the first time, there were SO many calls about this new actor…they crashed the phone system!! I have pics of this in my study too. I would love for it to be new to you but it is one of my beloved
Me too!!!!
Perfect example of romantic tension without needing to show anything explicit. I wish more movies/books were like this.
I can't with his shyness!! He's so cute and kind!! 😅🥰
When she says she loves to walks and he’s says Yes! Yes I know 😢
the subtleness of his attraction is what always gets me, like omg i love it
the only thing i missed in this movie is their walks in the garden... otherwise it's perfect, it could not be better, there will never be anything better
Yes! I really loved that part in the book and I was quite sad they didnt adapt it to the movir 😢 but the movie is perfect anyway haha
There’s so many things from the book that I would have loved to be put in this movie, but I’m happy cause this movie helped me with my imagery while reading
@ZoeyHuntrix_official have you seen the 1995 series? they include all the details, i watched both, i think the changes in this one befit the characters and enhance our understanding of the reasons both acted the way they did, the details would be too much of a distraction for such a short movie in comparison to the original story
I love reading the comments. I finally have a group of people that love this movie as much as i do and for all the same reasons😊
Меня тоже очень порадовали комментарии, так приятно, когда столько людей на одной волне с тобой 😊
The tension of wanting to kiss in the rain and the end when he’s kissing her by the fountain would have made this video perfect.
Yes, and also too the scene while they're dancing at the Netherfield Ball when he said to her, "I hope to afford you more clarity IN THE FUTURE," and everyone else in the room just disappears to them, so they're dancing alone with unbelievably intense attraction (sprinkled with pride, and prejudice) until the end of the dance and only then everyone else reappears.
That ending was only in the US version. The Uk version finale is when she leaves her father's office and he says he is quite in his leasure ... it makes it magical that there is no kiss at all in all the UK movie
@ourdestinynetwork For me, the kissing at the end brings closure to all the tension between them throughout the film. I’m not a huge Colin Firth fan, so 2005 wins for me.
@ourdestinynetworktotally agree
The fact that he says Collins’s and Charlottes home is charming and then we see Pemberly 😂
What point are you trying to make?
@solarqueen2555he’s desperately trying to make conversation
I mean just because it's quaint doesn't mean it lacks charm.
He noticed her from the very first time at the ball. Attraction just grew.
Cry every time I watch the sunrise scene .. when Lizzie gently kisses his hand after saying they are cold.. and Mr Darcy gives that sweet little nod .. the look of awe on his face is priceless.. as the look as she approaches him .. the answer to his question was already in her eyes ..
And then their heads slowly touch as the sun rises behind them .. even a stone heart would melt at this moment .. the most romantic scene ever filmed ..
Matthew MacFadyen and Kiera Knightley have created an unforgettable moment in time .. brilliant and beautiful.. both of them❣
Jen999💙
same, bawling my eyes out every time I watch this scene. insanely beautiful
Perfectly said!!
@kameelahal-mateen9789 🤗💙🌹
@mustsebra 🤗💙🌹
so true, why cant acting be more in depth nowadays......i hate watching woke actors and directors
When she refused to let him walk her home it broke my heart . He beat her to the village and got her to stay . The break when he smiled turned the tide. Him coming thru the fog coming to her….oh my the most romantic scene ever.
Oh that handgasm is everything
HANDGASM HELP 😭 💔
OnlyHands 🤝
The fact that I knew exactly what you were referring to. 💀 😂
I watched pride & prejudice for 10000 times and never get tired of it
it always makes me laugh how darcy looked at collins. like "uuugh get off my space" hahahahahha
Yes it's a look like saying f...off ... "Ms Elisabeth ... I'm a guest..."
😂😂😂😂😂
It was like he was shooing a fly away. Loved it!
I listened to the commentary of the director - he tells how for the scene where Mr Darcy comes through the early morning mist to meet Elisabeth and propose a second time, a woman from the filming crew looked at Matthew coming along, sighed and said "I wish this would be my life" - gosh, so do we all, no???
Matthew is so amazing in this role. I know Colin’s Darcy is the gold standard but I prefer Matthew’s because there is more tension.
My first time or two watching I struggled to find the moment he started falling for her. Eventually you realize that it's almost instant and the comment about her being "barely tolerable" in the beginning is him trying too hard to play it cool since his bestie noticed right away.
I always get chills and cry with Darcy walking in the field scene. Such a beautiful, romantic movie I just can’t help it!
"Perhaps you should take your aunts advice and practice"
Next scene: Darcy practices
Everything was captured here so brilliantly that no darciness was left out. “Well then, your hands are cold” (then kisses his hand); code for : I accept your confession. This is the best film ever, I’m never tired watching it. I will watch this over and over again because it makes me “completely, perfectly and incandescently happy”.
I could watch this movie over and over again.
Gotta remind myself of Mr.Darcy after Succession😅 I think Matthew can play vulnerability like no one else. Just makes you feel for him whether as a socially awkward bachelor or as a two face, wimpy husband.
You should catch him in MI-5 (aired as Spooks in the UK). I think he was there in the first season.
you are on point💯💯💯💯
At 6:42 I only figured he was inviting her to take her to the city by walking together 😅
There is not even a single kissing between the romantic leads in this movie but it was the most romantic movie I have ever seen. The rain scene after the church was the best scene and the most iconic quote came from the second leads "Yes, A thousand times l, Yes!"
The very end of the movie when they do kiss and he calls her Mrs Darcy is so perfect. love Mathew so handsom as Mr Dar😮cy his voice is beautiful I could listen to him read the phone book all night ❤❤
@angelaevans7513 that one was actually meant to be an alternate extended credit scene that didn't get through in the original release in the cinema.
In thee American version they kiss right at thee end and its beautiful 😍
I dislike the kiss in the US version. If you understand Austen, and English Reserve, you know there's no need for it. The film is also about Mr Bennet's relationship with his daughters,, and Lizzie is the one who shares his intelligence and love of poking fun at people.
@angelaevans7513😅
The scene at the paino (ends at 3:41) was cut off short.
When he walks away and then looks back at her... the look he gives is the very definition of pining!
Oh Mr Darcy , you have bewitched me body and soul 💙
The scene where he sees her peaking through the door and they lock eyes is the best!
He’s acting, and the love in his eyes. He deserves a grammy on this. I love looking at his eyes on the movie and it’s very romantic
Oscar
I don't think Darcy would give this kind of respect and attention to any ordinary woman!!The prideful Darcy loosing his coherence in front of her and that restless fascination... He loved her since he saw her for the first time! One of my most favorite comfort movie ♥️😍🥰 and my one of my favorite fiction character Darcy!🌹
His eyes are so expressive! He doesn’t say much but you can see how much he loves Elizabeth through his eyes and body language 🤍
I met one guy who has the same characteristics like Mr. Darcy. He hardly shows or says too much but you can feel it from his eyes.
my god🥹🥹🥹🥹🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺, aren’t you a lucky girl
My husband was like that…until I corrupted him 😂😂😂
So what happened?
Oh man, those are the most interesting and mysterious ones. I hope it ended well.
WHERE DID YOU FIND HIM PLEASE I NEED SOMEONE LIKE MR DARCY
"She touched my hand! Lizzy touched my hand! I shall never wash it again!"
The way Darcy looks and acts around her and the amount of times he’s looked at her is pure cuteness because he can’t stop falling for her. Only a Darcy could perform such pining. ❤
I watched it more than 15times. And I will watch again and again
Even i have watched it so many times. I will never get tired of this
P&P and Sense and Sensibility... 😔 I swoon 😂😂😂
Same girl same
Aralarındaki uyum o kadar iyi ki izlerken ellerim karıncalanıyorr
3:25 ah. That was Elizabeth’s way of saying “why didn’t you ask me?”
We're all so goofy when we're in love 🤭😊 - the awkward silences, the stupid answers, the fidgeting, the looks, the stuttering...it's excruciating!
This is my favorite movie! I don’t even like these sorts of movies but this one is sheer perfection. The chemistry, the cinematography, the writing, everything! Never tiring of watching it.♥️
And the score!
I watched it for the first time 7/13/23 and am completely obsessed with it now. I've repeated some scenes an unhealthy amount of times 😂
Happy to know it isn't just me.@ivett.e
The 🎶 music
Never noticed this before but at 6:52 his eye is twitchting as his sister spills the tea
That's a wonderful detail. Thank you for mentioning this
Matthew is perfect as Darcy. He’s one of my favorite actors, and that voice! I’d listen to him read the phone book.
Matthew's voice never fails to capture me completely. 😍Love this film.
Just him walking to her in the early morning hours warms my cold heart..every time..❤
Matthew Macfadyen is irresistible as Mr Darcy
It’s like it’s as if she’s overly confidant, aloof and whimsical at first with her constant taunting him. But after eachother encounter they have, she gradually becomes more awkward, smitten and at a loss for words at the sight of him just as he had from the very beginning. It’s as if he’s genuinely rubbing off on her and she becomes more and more like him as time goes on. She’s been attempting to resist the urge of falling for him but she grows weaker to it every time they meet. On top of everything, I can’t even imagine just how much his spirits were lifted at the end, after he poured his heart out for a 2nd time, as she responded with “well then” knowing that he finally had her heart.
"You must know it was all for you." I'm not crying, you are. 😭
I love it!
This film is simply so unique! This edit perfectly shows a man deeply in love, always looking for the love of his life. Goosebumps and heart palpitations at the same time!
This is definitely my fav movie of all times!! Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen are beyond perfection together! I'm hopelessly in love with the actors, the soundtrack composed by the Italian Dario Marianelli, the landscapes, the body language...EVERYTHING! ❤❤❤ Simply a masterpiece ❤❤❤
I love how he nods ever so slightly right after she takes his hand and says "your hands are cold". And the birds singing in the background as their foreheads touch. Man, I love them so much❤️
I think you missed my favorite parts
1. where during the first ball Mr. Darcy stares at Elizabeth (after he commented on her looks ofc) you can see how he's completely mesmerised by her and regrets ever saying anything
2. He goes and tries to converse with Mrs. Bennet Jane Mr Bingley and Elizabeth and you can see how enamored he is again.
3. When Jane first enters Mr. Bingley's ball you can see Mr. Darcy behind her following her just mustering up the courage to talk to her (the literal definition of pining)
4. Towards the end when news comes of Lydia's elopement you can see Elizabeth circling the room and every time she enters, Darcy immediately stands up.
This was the best portrayal of Mr Darcy
Disagree. I liked him but prefer Firth.
That last scene when Elizabeth accepts him and the director catches the sun between their two profiles I cry every time because it makes me so happy.
You forgot the scene where they are having dinner with her aunt and uncle and she gets the letter from Jane that Lydia had run away and he keeps sitting down and standing up as she walks in a out of the room
I laughed every time he jumped up then sat back down. 😊
I can't believe that at my age I can be swept away.... The actor Matthew M. is simply entrancing in this movie.
I must say, when we read the novel I fell in love with Mr Darcy as we all did I suppose. But I adore this movie version. Matthew Mcfadyen let us feel Mr Darcy's love, affection and admiration from gead to toes. And a big compliment to the director as well, who caught this subtle but deep love
As expressões....os olhares....os jeito...as expressões corporais....❤ Cada detalhe....pareciam que estavam realmente ali....amo
Oh that sweet smile of his melts my heart! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
This never gets old
Полность с Вами согласна 🤝
Let me tell you one of the most beautiful expressions than a man being accepted by the person he loves...especially this man.
I wish they had made this movie into more of a mini-series or something... There is so much missing, and it would only add to the film. I mean, more screen time with Mr. Darcy, who wouldn't want that?😉
I’m not sure if you’re joking, but the BBC did that with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle. It is far superior to this version.
Yes, I do realize that. That version is one of my favorite adaptations.
Although I do like certain aspects of the 2005 film, the story feels rushed.
