Pride and Prejudice is just one of those movies that make you believe in the purity and the beauty of love in such an effortless and classy way. There were no obscene sex scenes and the kiss scene was just so poignant and endearing. It was just two people expressing their love with such sweet words and such intense gazes. Hence, it will always remain one of my absolute favorite movies. I wish Hollywood made more films like these. 💕

It also makes me so happy that they didn't "go Hollywood" on it (or the whole movie, really, Joe Wright was brilliant). Having them actually kiss would've ruined it completely.

You’re welcome to your opinion, but that doesn’t mean the rest of us are wrong for being perfectly, incandescently in love with this movie. It is a classic, one of the best movies ever made, and this scene was hair-bending in ways that are verbally indescribable. I’m sorry you were confused, we’d love to help explain it to you if you’d like, but if it’s not your type of movie then simply don’t watch it again. I’ve watched it several dozen times, and get something new out of it every single time. Then again, I’m also head-over-heels for Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables. Part of the issue with the oscars is that the voting on who wins an oscar in a category is conducted by those who have previously won an oscar in that category. It's very insular, very "no its this persons time to win an oscar" mentality, etc. It's why Leonardo Dicaprio had to wait so long for his oscar despite many great performances, because it wasn't deemed his time to win it yet.

K That’s not true. There have been plenty of talented women who have received Oscars. Women “never” get recognized for their work? That’s completely false. Sweeping generalizations like that are so common these days. Everything is not so black and white.
Regarding Kiera, she is incredibly talented and works hard at her craft. The Oscars are not always about who is the best or who deserves to win. And it’s not based on audience votes; it’s completely insular: Hollywood voting within itself. TONS of deserving actors, both men and women, have been denied awards they should have received. I don’t pay much attention to the Oscars anymore-they’ve infuriated me so many times.
