You should note that access is limited only to UK residents when you post links like this. People visit the BBC website, create accounts, and then head off to the Player to watch only to discover that they do not have access to the very thing that brought them there in the first place. Bad user experience. Bad customer relations. Be up front about it. Thanks.

When is the BBC going to open up access to BBC iPlayer to all of us who live outside the UK? I for one would gladly pay the subscription fee to gain that access. The only BBC channel we have access to here in Norway is the ironically titled BBC Brit, which is blatantly "Aimed at men but with broader appeal" (BBC Brit's description of themselves)! It is thus severely limited and basically based on Top Gear, and old episodes of Pointless and QI, with far too much Michael McIntyre thrown in. Their one redeeming feature is The Graham Norton Show, only delayed one week. Why can't we have nice things, like the kind of content we see in this video, Doctor Who, Staged, and all the other brilliant material you all tease us with and then keep to yourselves?!

What I think is so great is the follow up confrontation where she deftly says "I know what is happening" and "How dare you" while not giving up her power. She also then immediately turns on a dime and focuses on their kids and leaves him to watch and think about those he betrayed. I'm not sure Rickman's character fully gets it. Men are cold creatures who at the end of the day will not hesitate to ruin the best thing in their lives for the attention from a cheap classless woman, and then act like it's the wife's fault "sorry" doesn't make it all go away.

The acid test of a first-rate actor is that their performance is so thoroughly compelling they draw you in completely, the suspension of disbelief utterly prevails, and you fully forget yourself. Emma Thompson always does that for me plus she ices the cake as well by helping to create a storytelling alternate reality that at least some small part of me never again wants to believe is unreal. She etches her characters on her audience's SOULS using the full complement and range of voice, body language, complex patterns of gestures, and exquisite TIMING. I always feel I get much more than 'my money's worth' from watching her performances because, of course, the greatest art is truly and by definition PRICELESS.

In addition, I originally didn't like Joni Mitchell's remake of Both Sides now but was coming around to it having heard it a number of times. When I heard it in this scene however --- I got it. Trelawney’s hair is how Hermione’s was _supposed_ to be.
Re: Love Actually, a child therapist I knew some years back _loved_ the fact that Thompson’s character was such a good Mum, that she she kept her distress private, so as not to ruin her children’s Christmas. Having been the child of a mother who had no compunction about sharing his misery, and did in fact ruin at least one Christmas, I have to say I agree with him.

That scene of her crying, along with all her scenes after that part, where she struggles inside but tries to pull herself together, are literally showing a massive talent! Especially at the end of the film, where it seems that she decided to stay in this marriage but the way she looks at her husband and the way she pronounces the word "home" are not the same anymore, and never will be the way they were...We really see a hurt woman in real life, not an actor, because of the down-to-earth, real and so to the point acting of her! I loved her because of this movie, she is a bright soul full of talent!
