- Welcome back
In this video i install upgraded valve springs and test drive the car to compare before and after valve spring upgrade.
Car is 2006 535d touring stage 2 mods
This is a great upgrade and most overlooked when M57 is pushed past 350-400 bhp as Stock valve springs are very under rated for that job.
I have filmed in detail complete process of disassembly and install of valve springs, as previously my camera died whilst filming install on my own car.
Thank you for watching and your support!
8:10 no matter what people say about the "bad sound" of diesel engines.. I am addicted to it, especially the inline six.
Add some turbo whistle and it sounds like a musical masterpiece.
I work on these and every time i start it up after valve spring replacement or other work i get exited over and over, it never gets old.
Omg am defintly getting for straight pipe now sounds almostlike a petrol from back
I’m quite surprised with the sound difference 😀 for better of course
You can definitely here the difference! Let's hope the springs did the job and its will show on the dyno next week
Can’t wait to see the real difference 💪🏼
@@NENTECHM57 Hello master, is it rare for 35 engines that the shaft seals are worn out and is the valve not filled with compressed air so that the valves fall down or is that not the case with M57? You're doing really good work and you know what you're doing 👍
@@NENTECHM57🤔
@@E92.35 message me on instagram, I couldn’t decode your question
Hello, Did you lead compressed air to the cylinder via glow plug hole, or how did you manage to keep valves up during the change?
@@user-ib1kw9ze8g no air, just piston in Tdc
Thanks for the great video, is it really necessary to change all 24 or just the exhaust ones would do the job?
@@MustAccord not yet tested just exhaust one alone. There is no downside to replacing intake ones also aside from price.

In Video this is called SPOT Metering - what you need to show the important bits.
There are different possibilities; in general cam will use area metering. Which = a mixmach between black and white.
But what you want is a perfect (light) metering on the spring and as a result (light) clipping in the bright areas, where the light is.Which ia actaully irrelevant for you.
What are you mean in your comment

Good job nice answer !
Do you think for a guy like me? It’s not so hard to change segment on the Pistons because I easily approaching the 340000kms on stage 3 470ps machine I want to do that and I want to do too the timing chain completely
@@TheEverdiswillbe message me on instagram, not quite understand you.
how do you hold the timing chain without removing it completely?
@@ii-ryanou-ii4082 put bar in the cam sprocket.
Why did you not change valve stems when you had access to it
Not a must, customer didn’t want it done. Car was only on 100k miles
Damn that sounds so good what is the exhaust size? Fi or mm,is it downpipe or dpf box just empty?
I think it is 3” downpipe and back box delete
how the valve dont fall down?
Magic 😉
@@NENTECHM57 why you dont say?
My e90 335d only made 350bhp at gkr with stage 2 mods. The big turbo just wouldnt perform as it should (should of made 380 ) where can i get my turbo like reconditioned or a hybrid turbo that doesnt cost a fortune.
Message me on instagram , i will look in to it
Great video!
How do you keep valves from not dropping after you remove keeper?
Magic 😬
Do you need to use compressed air or put the piston at tdc?
@@NENTECHM57is there a way to do this without access to compressed air?
@@aqib2000 im not using compressed air, just TDC
How did you get the timing right when putting cams back in?
Using timing tools
@@NENTECHM57 did you lock the flywheel to do this?
@@HorseMeal yes, you must
@@NENTECHM57 thought so, I’ve got an N57 flywheel so would have to change it to do this job
You can do it without locking the flywheel as long as you can find TDC afterwards
Nice ,and how much this job cost?
You can message me on Instagram for more info
what's the difference? compared to the stock ones?
To get maximum potential when car is tuned it benefits in reducing smoke due valve lift also better boost control and more power as a result
@@NENTECHM57 but we need turbo hybrid?
@@NENTECHM57You mean that it will smoke less when doing this?
I have a stage 3 BMW 635D with 425HP and when I do 2/3 throttle it flies but when I use more throttle it produces more smoke but no extra acceleration…
@@marcelhartmans It depends on your setup and also on higher milage cars it tends to get worse as Springs wear out/hold even less pressure , if you want to have more accurate throttle response and refine your tune springs are big difference/must upgrade on these .
Valve springs will not make any difference
Unless you change cams
Or raise your max rpm
On M57 it does as they are soft springs from factory, when exhaust manifold pressure is higher due higher boost it starts opening exhaust valve causing misfiring and cloud of smoke
Could be a bad tune then
Too much fuel for the turbo setup that you have
I’m running 340hp tune no problem with stock valve springs
Bi-turbo model
@@samswildgarage8805 yes, 340bhp is nothing for 35d , this problem occurs over 370-380 depending on a setup, it is possible to get over 400 with stock springs but it is a mod worth doing. From my experience there was no downside to doing it, aside from expense.
@@NENTECHM57 ya im just talking about for the guys that are thinking they will give you more power
all heavier valve springs will do is stop valve float from exhaust backpressure or from high RPM
is it possible to buy downpipe with dpf?
No, just stock
