I thank whoever made same cdi, i hope eventually someone codes the DVC, i miss mutant rampage so much. I do have a physical cdi with a DVC but the DVC sadly doesnt work. I would gladly pay someone for them to code it
Looks like the latest beta of CDIEMU still doesn't support this game. Says something about the disc being dirty? At least it's still in development and may one day support it.
Got this to work, but for some reason there's a really weird audio problem. I get audio in headphones while being in the map in Zelda games, but as soon as I go to a level, audio for music plays on the left ear, then sound effects like slashes are coming from the right ear. I have no clue why.
One thing you need to understand about the CDi is that it really isn't a gaming console. It's a CD player with multimedia capabilities. Games on it were always an afterthought.
@@polocatfan No they didn't. The sold it as a "CD for your TV". That was their marketing. Gaming was only mentioned as just one of its features, not the primary focus. Heck, in their TV advertisements for the system games weren't even mentioned. Instead they opted for the umbrella term "interactive CD-i titles" and placed them below music CDs and photo CDs when listing features.
@@AmartharDrakestone Yes they absolutely did try to sell it at a games console. Not at first they didn't, but after a couple years, from 1993 onward that's exactly what they tried to do. I mean you can watch the commercials they ran promoting it as a games console right here on RUclips for fucks sake lol
@@ofmannotmachine3012 I've seen those commercials and while some do focus more on gaming (like the stupid repair guy infomercials) they still push the system as a multimedia center that can also play some games.
It still doesn't do that, you have to load content first, then select the emulator. check out the video 'Steam Deck: Philips CD-i Emulation (EmuDeck / ES-DE / RetroArch)' because the also provides a critical "guide" to getting the proper bios. I've tried every thing and multiple bios until I came across his video and got the right Bios and have got a few CDI games running in Retro Arch. Note - FMV games do not work yet because the a video cartridge that connects with the CDI apparently has not been emulated yet.
Hotel Mario freezes on Stage Clear without any consistency - sometimes after Stage 1, sometimes after Stage 2, sometimes after Stage 3, etc. Am I doing something wrong?
I can't start Dragons Lair, I get an "Unsuitable hardware" warning and in the kernel options I can't find anything for that memory that says it's missing. How can I solve it?
You need to find another version of the file format converter, since the version of the converter indicated by the author of the video on the link is broken. Tested
@@ArchadesGames but it worked out for me perfectly! Only thing I was missing is the fact, that on google play store there is the 1.9.x verion out and for getting the same cdi core you need to update this Retro Arch version with an 1.10.x apk for Android and then it works!!!!
Love my Philips cdi
2 videos today and 2 tomorrow. Count me in!
Kool Vid and thanks..I just finished setting up as per video and worked great!
Happy gaming!

Still no way to play Mutant Rampage? I'm honestly irate, I've been pulling my hair out over this.

The CD-I core is mono-audio, not stereo.

@@AmartharDrakestone I mean, it's two against one here, buddy.
I put the CD-i bios in the system folder of RetroArch but it still says it's missing although I have it in the systems folder.
Very helpful!
I got the bios files but they are different inside to yours :(
Is there a reason that CDI isn't available? I'm on Macos M1 and have it downloaded.
for some reason retroarch is not showing cdi core

I'm getting this same error too... did you ever manage to figure it out?

@@marx4538 haha no worries. might just be an emulator bug sadly
Damn, we are really going down the rabbit hole
Why not 😂
i have everything set up but when i search for content and it scans the roms nothing happens no library with cdi games:s
Geweldig! nu de dvc nog
Why, oh why has nobody cracked the video codec for this emulator yet? It's been years now! So frustrating.
All the bios files I have found are not like the ones that you demonstrated. Any pointers?
Oh boy, so cool, no links to these zip files, and screen is so tiny-miny-mo... like... man :D

Wait for an update that supports the memory expansion and video add-on card.
how do you configure input?
How to save, i mean quick save ? The other cores allow using F2, but Same CDI dont.
What about multi disc games?
retroarch doesn't work, i load the game and he doesn't load properly the game and crash.
A few suggestions from a guy who grew up with one (blame my bro in law)
Inca
Lil Devil
7th Guest
World Class Soccer
Escape from Cyber City
Definitely have to chem them out
i put the cdi games in the same foler as the btach file but when i click the batch file and press any button it just closed it

Does it support FMV yet? If not then it's pretty useless for most of the good games.
There is no cdi core to download on Retroarch on Android...
This isn't an android tutorial
