Just to add to this, you need to install Emulation Station from emudeck as well as use Steam Rom Manager to make a link to it in game mode (only once) I wonder if someone has a parser for CDI games?
Im going to try to get CDi working on my steamdeck. I've never heard of it. I just stumbled across this video. Looking for more steam emulation. I got switch working pretty good 👍🏽 Update 15 minutes later. I have CDi working great with the Top 50 roms for the system 😂
Can’t get any CD-I games going. MAME doesn’t recognize .bin and .cue files for cd-i games on the Deck. Emudeck compression tool doesn’t convert it to CHD either. I’m giving up.
None of the Philips CDI videos mention anything about these issues you'll face during setup. 1st of all, if you're looking to run the laser disc games like Dragons Lair or Mad Dog, forget it! All of them require a "Digital Video Card" which isn't implemented in any emulator. 2nd, converting bin and cue games to CHD is not as straight forward as other systems. Only games that have multiple bin files will convert with the included .bat files that are used. For single bin and cue file games, simply delete the cue and rename the .bin to .iso and use the iso to CHD bat. Most cd images are iso compliant so yes it will work
@ thanks for the info but I already gave up months ago and moved on. Tried for several days and even sought help from Discord people. There are so many great emulators that work fine on the Deck and I’m enjoying those now.
Is there any way to enhance the cursor speed for some of the games? I’m trying to play Burn:Cycle but I keep getting shot before I can move the crosshair over the enemy
I'm 99% sure the actual hardware was like that too (mine is in storage gathering dust or I would test it) - since there is no "analog" involved, it is all just a digital signal. You may check the emulator itself and see if it offers up something.
I had recently got the new Oled model. I tried some old emulators like the cdi and some others atomisware and Naomi and now they don’t work. I tried your bios and the games don’t work anymore could it be an update that messed it up?
When I try to load a CD-i game, the display shows weird and distorted textures and there's a message that says "Fatal Error: Device CD-ROM Image load failed: Unspecified error". Can you help me fix that?
@@GenyaArikado Honestly, I don't have it all currently installed at the moment. For all my video work, my Decks get nuked a lot - so I don't get attached to anything in particular LOL For emulation woes, I recommend trying multiple versions of the game - some could be bad or improperly packaged. Have you tried sourcing a copy of the game from another location?
That's a little ... newer ... than I care to cover. I will add it to my list. It isn't hard to do - but getting the files you need? That's the issue and I am NOT gonna get another community strike providing links :D

@@Darkuni the digital video cartridge I think you mean, fmv can be in games without the digital video cartridge. It's strange it doesn't work, I would think the cdi wouldn't need the card emulated as the entire thing is already in the system. Just need a way to get it to accept it.
@@allanallen1835 I'm certainly no expert in CD-i (own one, but no FMV cart), CD-i emulation nor Batocera. What game? I can see if it works in my setup.
Thanks for this video man it really helped. Now games like the infamous Z games run but other fmv won't run; it says "Digital Video Card" missing. I go in the core and cannot find a toggle. Any fellow gamer knows a work around? Thanks Edit: Nevermind just found out with a quick google search that for emulation of the cdi with dvc is pretty much a no go. IOW games that require it are unplayable on emulation
I'm afraid in my research it didn't look like that the FMV cartridge was actually supported. It is unfortunate. However if all you really want is the video to watch? There are ways of accessing a disc or disc image and extracting that video.

Bravo and thank you
