Great show tonight! Fun topic to chop up! I would love to see a show where you discuss the top starting pitching free agents and post their stats on screen so we could discuss their current trends and pros/cons.
Thank you Casey for the great show. I guess everything hinges on the signing of Roki. There likely won’t be any major signings from the Dodgers until that situation is settled. I just hope the following happens this offseason: (1) Roki joins the Dodgers; (2) Butane, Treinen, and Teo all return to the Dodgers; and (3) the signing of one or two more pitchers (Kikuchi, Burnes, or Snell). There's just too much uncertainty in our current roster of starting pitchers. Most of them are recovering from various minor or major surgeries. We need one or two reinforcements in that department to avoid punting games away in the postseason. Any other additional signing will be icing on the cake. Finally, YES regarding Kim over Adames in terms of fit, cost, and roster balance, but I think shortstop/outfield positions can be solved internally if we can have those aforementioned key signings.
Like Kim, but worried about his shoulder. When will he be healthy/ready to play in 2025 and how strong will the shoulder be. Team has depth to cover the start of the year at SS with Edman and Rojas.
What I would do starting from that 37 guys list: 1. Add 3 of the rule 5 kids who have more trade value (but I would ask them for teams they rather not go to). 2. DFA: Logue. 3. Definitely trade: Brasier, Frasso, Gonsolin, Grove, Cartaya, CT3, Lux, Outman. 4. Trade if needed: Knack, Wrobleski, Miller. 5. Send to minors (in ST): Casparius, Henriquez, Feduccia and Pages 6. Resign Kersh (when the 60-IL comes operational) From the first 3 they open 12 spots and I would add (at least try really hard to) 10 guys: Resign: Teo, Kiké, Treinen and Walker. Sign: Sasaki, HS Kim and T. Scott. Fried or Snell (only if they can't get Crochet). Trade targets: G. Crochet (LHP), K. Tucker (RF/LF) and J. Smith (3B/SS/LF). With Kersh I'm at 39 BUT: there's still the 5 in the 60-IL (Bazooka, Ryan, Stone, Sheehan and Hurt) + still have 3 that if not traded they have options (Knack, Wrobleski and Miller) + still have 4 to the minors (Ben, Henriquez, Hunter and Pages) = 27. I guess either Honeywell is again the odd man out or, IF they get Josh Smith (whom may very well not get traded) send him to the Comets.
I think I prefer a closer by committee situation with 3-4 guys capable of closing, than a set closer. RH Paul Sewald has indicated his interest in coming to the Dodgers. Sign RH Sewald and LH Tanner Scott. Re-sign RH Treinen. Trade Brasier. Bullpen of RH's Treinen, Kopech, Phillips, Sewald and LH's Scott, Vesia, and Banda. Round it out with young guys with options like Casparius, Knack, Henriquez, Dreyer, etc ...
On the Sewald part: a lot of people only saw the clip and not the full video with Sewald and think that he brought up the Dodgers. AJ brought up the Dodgers though. Not saying that YOU were saying Sewald tried to insert himself into the Dodger conversation, but a lot of others have. Side note aside, I too like closer by committee, even though it's not popular with some. I rather have the guy who's the best guy right then and there than the guy who has a title to close. Largely why I believe the Dodgers won in October is that they didn't have just one Dawg, but a bullpen full of them.
There has been a rumor floating about the Reds sending Jonathan India to the Royals for RH Brady Singer. What do you think about a Lux and Outman to KCR for RH Singer and LH Bubic?
I'd trade Gonsolin. If everything comes together like we hope, Ohtani, Yamamoto, and Sasaki all throw splitters. Having 4 guys in the rotation with splitters would be too much.
My offseason wishlist is similar to yours Casey. Devin Williams, HS Kim, Roki Sasaki, Corbin Burnes, would be perfect for Xmas. I be wouldn’t be surprised to see LA bow out of the Kim bidding if it goes to 5 years and $100 million like Fangraphs predicted, but he makes too much sense if he chooses a pillow contract like MLBTR predicted. I’d give him 5 years and $100 million because I value his defense and batting eye that much at a premium position. I could also see LA going for a 1 year bounce back pitcher like Buehler or Verlander but I honestly think Walker would be better off in a place like Atlanta or Detroit where he’ll get more opportunities. Should be an exciting hot stove for dodger fans
Trade nick frasso and Ryan brasier for a two good pitchers in free agency and get roki sasake in dodgers team to win one more World Series title with him in 2025 season starts
Kopech should stay in Dodgers team for 8 years in Dodgers team and get Philips back in dodgers team and get treinen back in dodgers team and get banda back in dodgers team and get Honeywell back in dodgers team and get knack back in dodgers team and get Henríquez back in dodgers team and get dreyer in dodgers team in 2025 season and get roki sasake in dodgers team with Yamamoto and ohtani or goatani
Trade Chris Taylor for Willy adames in 2015 and trade James rocket outman for to replace him in that position and teo world good and get Willy adames and let Gavin Lux stay in Dodgers and go back in defense in 2025 season starts and not hitting no more in homeruns no more just defense in 2025
Great show today Casey. Thank you. I'd be curious on a future live stream (or show) to know what your expectations are for Ronan Kopp this year. He got plenty of opportunities to start in 2023 at GL but didn't get any starts this year at Tulsa. Going forward do you see him primarily as a bullpen guy? Seems like the performance at Tulsa was uneven but 70Ks in 49⅔ IP suggests the stuff is still there. Thanks for considering talking about him.
They transitioned him to the bullpen towards the end of 2023. He started last year on the IL, then got ramped up with Tulsa in late Tulsa. His issue is command, then also, sometimes control. AAA hitters would force him to be much more effective in terms of using his stuff in the zone. He definitely is super talented, but has a ways to to go to be able to execute at an MLB level, IMO. I don't mean that to be negative, or a knock on him, it's what the Minor Leagues are for.
I want Treinen back in Dodger Blue!

Let's go Dodgers ⚾️ 🧢
Casey, any thoughts about how soon we see a trade or free agent signing by the Dodgers? Winter Meetings or after?
Sorry for 2915 for 2025

FYI ... Cots lists Grove as out of options.
Let’s resign Teo and get Roki first.

Heck ... even Vesia & May have options if needed.

I mess up or maybe in this words because my bigger sisters phone numbers is to small and the phone is kindoff small and a little bit big and small

Hi I think Bobby Miller was playing thru injury most of 2024
Trade nick frasso and Ryan brasier for a two good pitchers in free agency and get roki sasake in dodgers team to win one more World Series title with him in 2025 season starts

Kim seems to be far too injury porn.

@ Thanks for the insight on Kopp. Appreciate it.
