People have been begging for plenty of obscure Capcom rereleases for more than a decade. They don't wanna do them unless they're hyper successful and Power Stone is pretty niche. They could guarantee huge profits rereleasing Street Fighter, or they could gamble on rereleasing a bunch of cult classics that ultimately didn't sale well. They're choosing guaranteed money everytime.
@@SonplaysMinEcraft I doubt they even have the source code anymore, given arika made those games and they've been shuffled from wrestling project to project until they fell into obscurity
You mentioning One Piece: Grand Battle! sent me back 17 years, to when my family would go to Walmart and how every time I would sneak away from them and bolt over to the demo section just to be able to play it.
@dipsetny9291 Well, to be fair, I think it's partly because they were made as dreamcast exclusives, and the dreamcast itself didn't sell very well if they were released on other systems they probably would have sold better. Although it's also understandable why they were dreamcast exclusives since they were built specifically for its hardware in mind, even the arcade cabinet versions, although there's rumors of a remake for the Nintendo switch.
I feel crazy for thinking Capcom has so much money left on the table banking on making a new Power Stone be their Smash Bros! They own a myriad iconic characters and franchises to pull from without needing outside licensing!
there's an alternate universe out there where Smash Bros played like Power Stone; and every Smash Clone plays just like it, but with some Saturday morning cartoon stuff.
As of Aug 27, 2024, Capcom has revealed Capcom Fighting Collection 2 which includes Power Stone 1 and 2 with rollback online multiplayer! Here's hoping to its success in the future!
You've conveyed a lot of points better than myself from my review of the game, Im glad we were both able to recognize the greatness of power stone. Powerstone 3 could have easily taken brawler aspects of 1 and arcady party game of 2 and could have been the definitive version of the game.
For those who can deal with emulation. You can actually play both games online (with rollback netcode) now on a free emulator called FightCade 2. I ran a tournament for PS1 earlier this year and it went very well.
I actually watched this anime in middle school. I genuinely thought i made it up. Thank you for letting me know a silly little party fighter game exists
Power Stone 1 and Power Stone 2 are the best heterodox fighting games ever made. Still great to play it on a Dreamcast with a Bahar Bros. Akura VGA box.
Things could always change, but a Power Stone remake was in that bunch of games that got leaked in the Capcom hack thing that happened around the end of 2020. It seems that after more than almost two decade of doing nothing with the series Capcom finally remembered it was a thing. Maybe Itsuno wants to make another one or something? The release date on the leak list was Q3 of 2024, but that list also seems to be pre-COVID. Like the recently announced ExoPrimal is on there as SHIELD, and they seemed to have plans for that coming out in 2021 and then I guess an update at the end of this year. Pragmata (REGOLITH in the leaks) was 2021, the recently announced SF6 was Q3 of this year, and the unannounced Dragon’s Dogma 2 is listed as Q2 '22. So dates seem very subject to change. Kind of hope doing Supers in the remake is how Dragon’s Dogma does them. Hopefully that remake is still happening. There’s too little in the way of games like Power Stone. What is there, like, basically just One Piece: Grand Battle game, the VS mode in Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks, that one Shrek game, LASTFIGHT, and Might Fight Federation? I think that’s basically it.
My first experience with Power Stone-like fighting was actually the multiplayer in Spider-Man: Friend or Foe. It was a lot of fun at the time, even though spider-man and black cat were totally busted because they could grapple from far away lol. It also definitely didn’t have interactive level design to the degree of Power Stone. I would love to see this FG-type revisited again
There was a Billy & Mandy Power Stone clone that i played A LOT before knowing it was inspired by something else. I'll always have a soft spot for 2's chaotic gameplay, but it feels a bit too linear in how you're turboing for the gems. 1 was a bit more meaty with it's gameplay, it's kinda wild how different enough they are, to the point I still play both lol
Been wanting to play these for years, and now I've got even more incentive to. Loved your coverage on it. Thanks for another sick upload man. And side note: The final boss in the first game immediately made my mind go to the abomination that Tetsuo turns into in Akira.
Great video. I never knew 2 was toned down from 1 outside of multiplayer. I had Power Stone 2 back when i was in school and still had friends living nearby and coming over, and dude. ALL of us preferred Power Stone 2 over Smash Bros. idk we just... found it more fun and wild and cool. What was it about Power Stone...? Maybe it was the dynamic stages (I loved the airship one the most) and chasing down the stones for the super moves just made it more fun. Like you always go after the guy with the most stones, and you fight like hell if you're the one holding the most, I feel like that is way more fun than how Smash does the Smash Ball thing which is just BS a lot of the time. Man I'm getting nostalgic. We really need something new from this franchise, I swear it is the funnest 4-player brawler.
I remember playing the demo a couple times when I was a kid and damn son was I thirsty for more of it! This was before I could read or pay attention to when games said their name in the intro, so I never knew the name until years later
Holy guacamole, I've heard about this game before, but now I really wanna play it. Thanks KBash *edit* Powerstone 1 specifically. I've only been shown the 2nd game and I wasn't sold on it.
Still one of my all time favorites. The first one was for sure the better title. The combat was so good . I finally got to play the second one like 5 years after it released and man it’s so bad in comparison to the first . No wonder the series discontinued after that one. Simplified the combat For the worse . 4 players would be cool if it remained more like the first one God I miss these characters One piece grand adventure was also great!!!
I remember the first Power Stone clone I played was the Tom & Jerry brawler for N64, the final boss was a mutant Jerry that was too hard and I don't think I ever completed, but it wasn't a particularly good game anyway and I'm pretty sure the reward for winning would be a "congraturation" title card
Can we talk about the amount of replay value/humor Power Stone 2’s utterly absurd item count and variety added tho, I know y’all laughed out loud the first time you tried the Tennis Racket don’t lie
Wow this video was cool. And you also have the best patreon appreciation end card thing I’ve ever seen. And I’m not even a patreon. To hear you go ham on all these names was genuinely entertaining. Impressive.
Never played the Dreamcast originals but went hard on the collection when it first hit on PSP. Fun series and would love a rerelease but not exactly something I would absolutely kill for.
Hit the nail on the head. Nothing else plays quite like power stone. I love this series and pray capcom gives it a shot again (I know they won't but it's a dream).
The Capcom leaks showed that something related to Power Stone is scheduled for release in the future. I think God of War: Ascension's multiplayer mode might have been inspired by Power Stone.
Great video! Giving a hectic party-fighter like Power Stone a new port for the Switch seems like such a no brainer, and yet I don't understand why it's taking them so long...
I will never forget Christmas of 1999! I got Marvel Vs Capcom, Power Stone and NFL 2K for the Dreamcast! Then I got Resident Evil Code Veronica and POWER STONE 2 for my Birthday! Damn good times!
Haha my favorite fighting game series of all time. To this day, I still play both games almost everyday! Thanks for showing love of this series. Welcome to the POWER STONE WORLD!
Oh hey, this video released like, a week or so after I bought Mighty Fight Federation as per Matt McMuscles' recommendation. I haven't tried it yet, but I just thought I should mention it since it seems barely anyone does when the topic of Power Stone-likes are brought up.
I loved Power Stone 2 because of its more chaotic fights with its unpredictable outcomes, when I play with my brother's and relatives especially, no two fights ever end the same way.
Damn, you were just joking about inviting us over? A shame, because I totally would have brought my Dreamcast with _Power Stone 2_ and four controllers. Seriously though, thanks for the video. I love both of these games to bits, still play them regularly, wish that there was a third game in the series to this day. Also, for shame for not mentioning the excellent weapon crafting mode in _2_ that *will* eat away most of your time if you let it.
Those 8 bit games were the vmu games from power stone 2. Holy crap it's so fun some of the best times of my life on power stone 2. You think that game is nonsense get good with 2 v 1.
I discovered Power Stone after playing Rave Master for GameCube and reading online that it was a ripoff of Power Stone 2. Thank you, Rave Master. By the way, One Piece Grand Adventure is NOT 4-player. I wish it was, but it's not.
Honestly Power Stone is some of the most fun i had with a "fighting game", and i never even played it with friends, just 100% the single player in both games and kept playing because there's nothing quite like it. Wang Tang best boi.
this gameplay made me think of marvel nemesis rise of the imperfects bc you could jump off walls and do homing attacks and throw objects and wreck the environment a bit similar to this !
Hopefully the Capcom Fighting Collection is deemed successful enough to warrant a 3D Fighting Collection that includes these two games!
Along with Rival Schools and Star Gladiator 1 & 2.
Gotta love Batsu, Tiffany, Hayato, and June etc.
i hope they include Street Fighter EX but they probably won't because Ken looks better in the PS1 games than he does in SFV lol
Can we stop with this nonsense about companies holding franchises hostage, and we having to pay for a chance for them releasing them? THANK YOU!
Really hurts that Capcom abandoned Power Stone. I love the color and art style, and in today's market it could fit comfortably as a party fighter.
Probably because the games didn't sell very well
@@t_man7259It’s to bad because this was a Masterpiece of a game in my eyes! Power Stone 2 was way better!!!
@dipsetny9291 Well, to be fair, I think it's partly because they were made as dreamcast exclusives, and the dreamcast itself didn't sell very well if they were released on other systems they probably would have sold better. Power Stone 3 was in the leaks from a 2-3 years ago. Most of the other games on that list were announced/released already.
there's an alternate universe out there where Smash Bros played like Power Stone; and every Smash Clone plays just like it, but with some Saturday morning cartoon stuff.

POWER STOOOOOOONE IS BACK BAYBEEEE
Let's gooooooo!!!
POWAH STONE IS BACK, BABY!!!
With censorship
There are a lot of cool things stuck on Sega Saturn and Dreamcast; Powerstone, Rival Schools, Fighting Vipers, Last Bronx, Panzer Dragoon Saga, etc.
it's cool that this series is returning in the new capcom collection. I'm excited to try it!
Power Stone 2 was amazing. I spent so much time on it and playing that slot machine to get all the items.
With my old gamer friends this was part of our line up. Power stone 2 is the smash of Dreamcast.
I remember 100% and bringing my memory card over to friends with my unlocks
You've conveyed a lot of points better than myself from my review of the game, Im glad we were both able to recognize the greatness of power stone. Powerstone 3 could have easily taken brawler aspects of 1 and arcady party game of 2 and could have been the definitive version of the game.
The moving stages in Power Stone 2 are just like moving stages in Smash Bros. games. it's fun.
Are you excited?!
Glad I can still play online through Fightcade
For those who can deal with emulation. You can actually play both games online (with rollback netcode) now on a free emulator called FightCade 2. I ran a tournament for PS1 earlier this year and it went very well.
This video led me to buy the Power Stone collection. Absolutely worth.
I actually watched this anime in middle school. I genuinely thought i made it up. Thank you for letting me know a silly little party fighter game exists
I remember TotalBiscuit talking about this game a lot on the Co-optional podcast years ago.
Power Stone 1 and Power Stone 2 are the best heterodox fighting games ever made. Still great to play it on a Dreamcast with a Bahar Bros. Akura VGA box.

I was just about to comment about the Billy and Mandy game because it seemed like this. That game was pretty cool to me.
But KBash, how could you forget the best game that took inspiration from Power Stone?!
Shrek Super Slam.
Been wanting to play these for years, and now I've got even more incentive to. Loved your coverage on it. Thanks for another sick upload man. And side note: The final boss in the first game immediately made my mind go to the abomination that Tetsuo turns into in Akira.

My favorite fighter from childhood I used to play the demo so much until getting the actual game for Dreamcast and then later for the psp
Power Stone is genius. A crime that it never left the Dream Cast
All i want is a new power stone, a new jet moto and a new road rash.
Man i never seen this tree stage
Thank you kbash!!! Keep up the great work I Appreciate ya
Absolutely, and it's one I'd cry tears of joy at seeing remade and/or remastered for say, the Switch.
I'd also just like to say, Ayame is best girl!
Holy guacamole, I've heard about this game before, but now I really wanna play it. Thanks KBash

One piece grand adventure was also great!!!
I'm a simple man. I see power stone and I give it all the love it deserves unlike capcom.

I prefer #2 personally 🥰
I like watching Power stone gameplay but I never seem to play it myself
Loved the chaotic energy of this video haha, very fitting for Power Stone.
The hype is real!!! Power stone is back!!

Hey there KBash fans welcome to the saugage fest. We know what you like, playing retro games.
power stone return hype!!!

Just got home from work and see this video. You have no idea how much you made my day reviewing this forgotten relic.
Yesss maybe if more people give it some attention it can make a comback
And a comeback will soon make now.
I wonder if the Capcom collection does well we might get a port or something of this.
They did
@@orangeslash1667 Hell yeah they did!

There's a cactus wearing a sombrero in MVC2. As a Mexican, do i find it offensive? Hell no. He kicks ass!
Surprised to see you haven’t covered Ehrgeiz yet
Great video as always. What I know is everytime power stone is mentioned rival schools is right behind it in mentions

whoooa it's like an alternate universe smash
and like Bomberman 64 vibes
this is cool
Haha my favorite fighting game series of all time. To this day, I still play both games almost everyday! Thanks for showing love of this series.
Welcome to the POWER STONE WORLD!
Beautiful Game from the old times just. Lively and beautiful
Still waiting for the 3rd game 😅

I'm glad you mentioned one piece Grand adventure my man!
I like the PSP version because you can unlock Power Stone 2 characters in Power Stone 1 and they break the game completely.
I remember watching my uncle play this game and watching the anime. Glad to know other people know about this.
I loved Power Stone 2 because of its more chaotic fights with its unpredictable outcomes, when I play with my brother's and relatives especially, no two fights ever end the same way.

yet another callback straight from my childhood - love it man
If you love the dive kick option than boy do I got a fighting game for you. It's called Dive kick.
I apparently did not watch enough of the video to have you mention Dive kick.
Jack can still dive kick in PS-2 with the Y button, also you can have all swords so that all characters can dive-stab.
yall play the marvel power stone? nemesis rise of the imperfects or smth
The mini game you played was an easter egg from the dreamcast memory card
Hopefully Capcom will bring this back.
Wish granted

we use to play PowerStone 2 with the gang at our local arcade now we all old now goddamn.
This one of many games that i never played, but alweys hear how it got released once, fans love, want it back.
I hope it happens someday.
Never tried the original Power Stone, just 2. Maybe it's what I needed!
I discovered Power Stone after playing Rave Master for GameCube and reading online that it was a ripoff of Power Stone 2. Thank you, Rave Master.

Nice to see fellow One Piece Grand Adventure chads still reppin a real og

Glad this Video came out bc my best friend is the world record holder for speedrunning ps2 on hardmode!
KBash? Heh, more like KStash this video in my Watch Later list 'cause I gotta get through work first.
Now I want to do a Power Stone night with the boys
At this point just feed us KBash, give us the Grand Piece video
I had the PSP version. Unfortunately my PSP got destroyed and my copy of the game with it.
Falcon has a cameo in Capcom VS. SNK 2... That's something?
Power Stone is my favorite arcade game, I want to find a cabinet!!!
Great video KBash, I hope we get a Powerstone 3 on the Switch.
It's back
Wasn't a new Powerstone in that capcom ransom leak .
this gameplay made me think of marvel nemesis rise of the imperfects bc you could jump off walls and do homing attacks and throw objects and wreck the environment a bit similar to this !
When people always show their audience and there is that tiny female percent. I just assume those are dudes who created catfish accounts and use them.
I just watched your Bloody Roar retrospective video. Now you look an anime character lol
