I’m 38 and I play this music in my house all the time my kids love this music 🎶 there’s no age limit to good Music with a message look how this music resonates today nothing has changed since the 70s
I’m a baby boomer listening to this record on 12-28-24. The music of our generation was the best. The songs of the 2000s comes and goes but, our generation’s music is timeless.
I woke up to The Stylistics playing in my head *heavily* this morning. It's just true blue soul music. Never any issues. Just pure, good music through and through.
Exactly. I was Blessed to be in Jr. High, High School and College in the 70's. An incredible time unmatched by any other generation musically, politically and culturally.
The extended version is so damn long Almost 12 minutes. I grew up in the wrong time my soul belongs somewhere else ❤❤❤I appreciate the live musicians. How they improvised there’s real Composers people who went to school And studied music all day and night Dedicated people…❤❤❤❤
Im watching it now. Crooklyn is autobiographical you know. Its about Spike's childhood. He's legacy Morehouse, you know. His father and grandfather, Morehouse grads. Mother and grandmother Spellman grads. ❤
I listened to this song since the 1970’s. It wasn’t until I saw the opening credits for “Crooklyn,” though, that I heard that instrumental part. Turned out I only heard the singles version. That instrumental part is divine.
Every time I listen to this I am ashamed that I had never heard of Thom Bell until I read his obituary. Undoubtedly he was one most profound musical geniuses of the 20th century. His music and orchestration age like fine wine. An incredible man.
Just more proof that the 70's was the golden era in popular music. You had an explosion of creativity and musical experimentation everywhere. Like in this song..having a bar of 4/4 followed by a bar of 5/4. Unusual for soul music, but it sounded as natural as could be. Songs were so clever and well-crafted.
This song is just magic, big sound. The falsetto, is beautiful. Thru the decades, this tune defines, life's challenges. We're gonna make it. You, me. Our children. Peace 2020
Wish some of the current artists today would take a trip back to the late 60’s and early 70’s and recreate this sound. So many people would dig it. Peace everyone.
Feb/2023. I’m watching Crooklyn at my local Bounce station for the first time since the late 90s (yes, they cut my cable access alright!) What a great song and what a great soundtrack (as I remember and will prove it again)!
Just sitting back with my woman, just talking over a bottle of red wine letting go of the troubles of the world for a few hours. I’m glad I grew up in the 70s.
I bought almost everything that Thom Bell produced..........This album is one reason. This song is a classic forever!!! Lyrics, vocals, music arrangement! A TRUE STANDARD!
Russell recorded this song with instrumental backup. He also sang it on TV a couple years ago on an Alicia Keys special. He knocked it right out of the auditorium! He still has it at 70 years old. Amazing talent. 🎶🎤🎶
One of the fabulous tunes of all time, the music is FOREVER TRUE...timeless memories & joy, I grew up in the 1970s, this powerful sweet song stirs my heart, thankyou
What needs to be understood, is that people made of dust, is not our adversary, but the owner of that clay. We must look far above that illusion and see the evil energy controlling that body. We are more than that energy and the Who is with us are more than them. Me, I roll my eyes and keep moving listening for my Commander.
A good friend of mine from my college days at Jacksonville State could do these guys. He had the Stylistics down! Long before the singing days of Musiq Soulchild, Carl Thomas, and Will Downing -- we had these guys to enjoy. I agree with my pal Tim. They were good.
This is the record that Thom Bell and stylistics gave Burt Bacharach, Dionne and Hal a run for their money. They touched that spot where that musical trio reigned supreme.
@Donnell.......Until The Power Grid Goes Out & The Batteries Aren't Worth A Damn(Because They Are Poorly Made By People (With The Use Of Machines)😁😁😁😁😁💯👍🏾
This classic song came at a time when change was happening in America, just like today! All of us, who remember hopeful days an aspirations towards the 70's of change. Many boomers came out of the "turbulent" 50's - 60's!
During my Navy years in the South Pacific, we started our midnite 8hr shift with this song. Hard to explain the full significance, but it seemed to give us focus for the job ahead. Remarkable ...
I’m only 23 and I’ve shown this album to my wife and she dislikes it ! It’s crazy. I love these guys, and / or 70s - 80s music idk how to get her to get into it.
I’m a Fan Since Mi Childhood(1971 born)wen mi parents use to play all old school Melodious Music, Songs & Dances.. & it’z alwayz forever will b in top 5 best . 🎵🎶🎶💃🏽🕺🏻😍
This song has been stuck in my head since Saturday night & I even had a dream about this song too. How I miss the spirit of old. Oh how I love to visit my childhood just for 5 minutes. Today’s youth will never understand the importance of this brand of music.
I love this classic song by The Stylistics People Make The World Go Round the best song of all time!!!! We pray each and every day through this Corona virus!!! Stay healthy and safe inside!!!! Thanks so much for posting this video!!!! I love it!!!! I love the 70s!!!! Can you dig it!!!!!!
Of all the versions of this song. This one is the best version. The Stylistics are were, and will always be a great group. This song is timeless, and so are The Stylistics.
revisiting this CLASSIC piece ... as I think back more, I realize we played this on the loudspeaker because we were all isolated halfway around the world and missing home -- even though in the early 70's the USA was already a flawed nation. I think people likely will be listening to this ultra important song 100 years from now. And a sidelight, the great Russell Thompkins Jr.'s voice is one of the finest falsettos in music history, right there with Jay Black, Frankie Valli -- and maybe even Roy Orbison. The instrumental close gives us a chance to think and dream -- and ponder "why" or "why not"
God bless 1970 to 1979 I always pester my grandma and grandpa how times was like and they always tell me… simple and wholesome and at time very real damn I love everything about the 70’s 🌹❤️🔥
Carla Linton. I love The Stylistics. They are one of my favorite Male Soul Groups of the 70s and 80s.One of my favorite songs by The Stylistics is called. People Make The World Go Round. This is one of my favorites old school slow jams back in the day.
I'm 36 this song hit for me like Barry White practice what you preach. It just sounds different when ya unk got the grill going and all the family over.
Classic 70's Philly Soul at it's finest! It would not surprise me one bit the now-silent 1480AM WCIN would have played the full length version in it's entirety way back in the day......
Yeah back in 70s didn't matter what skin color you were if your music was good it didn't matter...growing up in Philly one of my favorite bands back then...great memories
Sigue siendo relevante por varios motivos. En 2024, 2034, 3040, 4500 y pasen los años que sean, lo seguirá siendo. Primero, porque es una composición maravillosa y del más alto nivel instrumental, muy original. Brillante

Beautiful song 🔥
This song is beautiful
Lyrics arrangements instruments👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
@trentalexander2413 Thom Bell, Linda Creed (forever RIHP) and the musicians of MFSB working their magic.
The musical arrangements are second to none, the lead guitar, bass, the high hat drums, synthesizer, flute and keyboard are exquisite. True genius.
Thom Bell did most of the arranging and production with the Srylistics.
On Atlantic.
Many thanks to the band MFSB (Mother, Father, Sister, Brother) The Sound of Philadelphia
@@maggynewtown3500 It's a first class production for sure.
So true. The opening music tells a whole story even before that amazing voice and lyrics kick in.
And Linda Creed did most of the writing.. @@maggynewtown3500
This is real music.
Carla Linton. This sure is real music.
I don't recall such sophistication about this song. We just took it for granted. This is absolutely extraordinary!
i know that's right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m a baby boomer listening to this record on 12-28-24. The music of our generation was the best. The songs of the 2000s comes and goes but, our generation’s music is timeless.

The 70s was an era all its own. Never any time like it before or since. This is one of those songs that perfectly embodies that unmatched 70s cool.
Exactly. I was Blessed to be in Jr. High, High School and College in the 70's. An incredible time unmatched by any other generation musically, politically and culturally.
you are so right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The extended version is so damn long
Almost 12 minutes. I grew up in the wrong time my soul belongs somewhere else ❤❤❤I appreciate the live musicians. How they improvised there’s real

Pop musicians don't do long songs anymore. Well, not usually anyway.
Was born and raised in this era . Loved it sometimes I wish I could go back
The great Stylistics and the Genius of Jamaican Producer Thom Bell, and Linda Creed.

I like the instrumental part at the end.
John Harris- They get down don’t they!
I listened to this song since the 1970’s. It wasn’t until I saw the opening credits for “Crooklyn,” though, that I heard that instrumental part. Turned out I only heard the singles version. That instrumental part is divine.

That flute at the end still sounds great! I love playing along with it!
For me the French horns. Such great musicians backing up this classic.
The extension on this jam is superb!
Every time I listen to this I am ashamed that I had never heard of Thom Bell until I read his obituary. Undoubtedly he was one most profound musical geniuses of the 20th century. His music and orchestration age like fine wine. An incredible man.
No doubt... one of the greatest to ever do it

The flute solo was Bobbi Humphrey. She's gorgeous.
I wore this song out when I first bought it in the early 70’s. Thom Bell was a genius! He is the main reason I pursued a music career ❤❤❤ ❤❤ RIP
