Born in 1957 so I was a late teen in this magical era of American R&B and Soul. An older man like yourself was truly blessed to have witnessed the birth of rock and roll and all that followed it. You have great taste and I'm sure, much wisdom too. May you have many future years of health and happiness Sir.
January 1974 I worked my last shift in the steel mill. The next morning I got on a bus to the Pittsburgh airport to move to California. The temperature was close to zero degrees. My brother picked me up at the San Francisco airport and it was a glorious day driving over the Bay bridge. It was then that this song came on the radio. Was feeling like I never had before. Driving over the bay on a glorious sunny day and listening to this song. It was my start to a whole new life.

This is my favorite song in life! It's smooth, it's mellow, it's soothing. It makes me think of happy times, when all of my family was still alive; when we had trees on the block, when there was still a thing called community. It gets to my soul and marrow. This may not make sense, but then again, some things just can't be explained!
I'm leaving this comment here so maybe after a week or a month or a year when someone likes it, I get reminded of this awesome song that will live forever.
Pure nostalgia - I was in my late 20s when Love's Theme hit the charts ( '73 ), and I loved it from when I first heard it. This year I will turn 78 . What I want to know is how the Hell did I get from there to here so damned quick! Anyone else relate?
Oh my. I hurt for you. I introduced my father to this tune many years ago and he just loved it...and then died in 2014. I still miss him seven years on, so can only remember the sadness you are dealing with right now. It's still there and always will be, but the sharp edge is dulled a bit with time too. I hope you will experience the same. All my best to see you through these terrible times. Maybe it will help, if only a tiny bit. And otherwise, if I may be so bold, do remember this tune literally SOARS upward with hope and happiness. I think your mom would still want to give this gift to you, as my father would wish to share it we me. We are both sad...but lucky to have had them too.
Yes they do, and they have largely been lost, except in film scores. An emotional instrument the violin. Soaring . They often bring out the tears in me (and they are right now). Certainly the best background instrument too, the violin.... But not here. :D Here they are on the very cusp. And it couldn't be any better.
This song is a masterpiece, timeless and lovely. It's why all of us fans come to this channel everyday to hear this. The string arrangements are marvelous!
Sho' You Right !! Wish radio stations would play Barry Whites' music so that I could hear it whenever I get into the car! Barry Whites' music conjures the actual feeling of the serenity in mutual respect in giving and receiving the of caring, intimacy
While in bumper to bumper traffic I was blasting Love's Theme and someone asked me what's the name of that song. I'm 66 and still play their music today. Barry White's arrangement is perfection. A timeless classic.
Beautiful music from a time when being a kid was riding around on your bike with a transistor radio hanging from the handlebars and having fun with your friends...no Instagram filling your head with poison.
1973! Nixon in the White house, 10¢ candy bars, sodas, chips, ice creams, 5¢ scoop of ice cream at Thriftys. 55¢ Big Mac's and Whopper's. 35¢ a gallon gas! Gas loving guzzling hogs land yacht's all over USA roads and freeways. Bought this same album brand new in 1973! for $1.99. Still have it. Memories of a time when America was still great even with the so called issues of the time. Never to return, but only in a Pipedream. So glad I lived it. Was only 13 then. USA TITANIC now sinking fast and is a nightmare to live in now.
@@edwardsimon5093 Then there's "Theme from SWAT" By Rythum Heritage another great instrumental. I have this tune both the shorten longer version on 45.
I was 12 and had to listened to this through SW (short wave) radio. well, I live in Indonesia and this kind of song was not in radio's playlist and no store would sell this. then I got Barry White's cassette ... bam! thank you!
Felt this comment as I lost my dad as well and he too listened to these songs in the 70s and now I’m stuck and love the 70s songs. I’m 57 (born in 1967)..forever thankful, Daddy🥰 RIH🙏🏽
@@magalyfernandez8816Man... timing. I wrote that comment about the 8-track a month ago. I was born in '70, and just lost my Dad a couple of weeks ago. I've been helping my Mom clean out their house, and listening to 70s music the entire time.
This was the first tune that introduced me to the legendary Barry White's music in 1973. Hard to believe that this classic tune is 50 years old. The Maestro himself is gone but his musical legacy lives on. RIP 🙏
Time flies It's the only currency with no refunds only deposits!! Edit" i.e. You can never get spent time back. However, you can choose you spend your time!!
I’m now70 years old I was able to see the master live in my local venue inportsmouth city Uk in 1970 something will never forget for the rest of my life god bless
I was 10 years old when this came out. I'm now 60 and it never gets old, brings back such great memories! This time of my life was awesome. To bad the younger generation just doesn't get it. The 70s rule!
I heard this while watching SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN ,& imagined that Steve Austin was so perfect that he would hear Barry White while running @ 60 mph!! Anyone else!!
what do you mean? The primary generation to start the criticism of disco and 70s aesthethics like architecture and interior design, im a zoomer and i have more positive opinions of 70s culture than many boomers. boomers also all declared disco dead in 1980, dont act like yall always loved it
This is one of my grandmother's favorite song. She is a portuguese lady born in the 40's who now is facing dementia. She told me one day that this song really touched her and it brings good memories, so I play this often to her. We sit outside at her kitchen's balcony, contemplating the song and enjoying the view. I will keep on playing this forever so I can revive these memories when she's gone
I dedicate this song to my dad!!! Who's going on 83 years old!!! I had a great daddy!!! I'm 53 yrs old, and I can still remember my dad taking me to the Rialto Theater here in Atlanta to see Godzilla vs Megalon!!!! Lol. I remember this song playing before the movie started. He also would, believe it or not, take me to the zoo every time I asked him! I don't remember him ever turning me down! He has early stage of dementia; my daddy cries sometimes because he can't find things because he forgets where he puts them. Wow, this is tough. I love him! He saved my life once from drowning, he bought my first and second car! But back to the zoo! He would hold me on his shoulders as I looked at Willie B! It was just me and him doing these things! He saved my life again at Six Flags!! I got on the parachutes with him, and I slid down under the bar. He said that his eyes were close, because we were so high, and he said when he opened them, I was hanging on to the bar that was supposed to be across my lap. He pulled me back up. I can go on and on, but I just wanted to dedicate this masterpiece of a song to my great and wonderful dad!!! I think of him and us when I hear this!! Great memories of us together in the 70s! I never felt unloved by him still to this day!! He still tries to look after me!!! What a good man!!!! I love you dad!!!! I LOVE YOU MAN!!!!!!
It's late now in chilly North Dakota. Just woke up...could not sleep as a good friend is passing away. Somehow, this beautiful classic always brings me peace and hope. May anyone who hears this Love Theme find comfort and peace. God Bless us All. Amen.
What a beautiful post Jolene, full of hope, we need that and I'm so sorry about your good friend !! You live in a great state (I've hiked in Theodore Roosevelt NP, and I keep very good memories). God bless you ! Cheers from South of France ! Gérard
A lot of music industry executives hated artists like him because he wrote and produced everything..he was at the top of the food chain with several other black artists like Donna Summer and Issac Hayes....they couldn't rip him off like they wanted...so they orchestrated the Disco sucks propaganda because they wanted to divide music back into Black and White...Rock and Rhythm & Blues!
This was a huge hit in Australia. I remember hearing it on radio station 2SM around the same time each morning when we would be driving along Campbell Parade, Bondi Beach on our way to work. I loved it then and still love it now. The memories keep flooding back!
I was 27 and which ever club you went to in L.A. this is what you heard. The classiest Disco ever ! I still play this in my car and I'm 75 ! (A YOUNG 75 !) 👍💙
Germany, Lower Saxony, Jever calling! Respect man! Born 1962. Raised up with Barrys wonderful music. Helped me a lot in my bedroom. All girls melt away... Stay tall ol man and make America really great with Biden.
I'll be 62 in a few weeks. Today, I heard this at my favorite barbershop, and man! The memories flooded back. Thank God I grew up in the 70s and got to experience great music like this from Barry White, and the other musicians and singers of yesteryear...like Isaac Hayes, Curtis Mayfield, Teddy Pendergrass, Gladys Knight, Al Green, Earth, Wind & Fire, Average White Band, Isley Brothers, Ohio Players, Parliament-Funkadelic, etc. We had/have it good!!! We heard it when it was new, and we get to reminisce.
I lost my precious wife to cancer...she was only 59 years old...We absolutely loved this music and it brings me such good memories...Prayers to all who have lost loved ones...
I lost my husband at the age of 32 I was 13 when this song was out and I still love it today and I am 62 now . Takes me back love all the 70s and 80s music 🎶
another beautiful job! My girl and I boogied to this in '73,,,been married now 39 years! 44 years including dating in school. graduated in '71 still going strong.
70s and 80s were the very best due to the harmonic usages of orchestrational arrangements just like this music. These kind of flowing orchestrational arrangements were lacking in the 50s and 60s
Sadly my Dad died in 1973 when I was 12 and I have been heart broken ever since. That said this theme taught me how to live and love all creatures great and small.
Who is listening in 2020. I could listen to the song 10 times a day and still not get tired of it. Great song to be listening to driving down the road especially in a muscle car
Surely, one of the most beautiful melodies ever written. I can never listen to Love's Theme just once -- always in a loop. Those soaring strings, the French horns, the harp flourish, the entire musical arrangement! Sheer brilliance. So much beauty and joy that it sometimes makes me weep!
Still in 2023, this is THE MOTHER OF ALL LOVE'S THEMES there are & will be. Thanks for such a beautiful & glorious song. Rest in Peace, Mr. Barry White❤💘💘❤
My mother, God bless her, is 82 years old and has loved this song for the almost 50 years it has been around! She plays it quite often at her house when she is listening to music along with Love Is Blue, A Taste of Honey, Music Box Dancer, and other great instrumentals from the 1960's and 70's. What a great time it was to be alive!!!!!
@@nashtndawg Thank you for bringing up “soulful strut”. I haven’t heard that in so long but I agree with you. I’m going to make sure I find it and listen to it again
@@antoniosalvatore703 Exactly! It's like the Glenn Miller music, the Tommy Dorsey music, the Andrews Sisters vocalizing stuff, the Peggy Lee... man. You're right. Good music never dies
14 December 2017: I grew up in the seventies, which is my favorite decade. Barry White was one of my favorite singers and so was the Bee Gees, Donna Summer, Al Green, Stylistics, Eagles, Elton John, Isley Brothers, Marvin Gaye, Michael & Jacksons 5, Diana Ross and lots of one hit wonders from the 70's. No cursing, No bad mouthing women, just great music.
Anthony Paul, ABSOLUTELY. I'm with you there Brother. When this song came out, I was just that... a KID. Not a worry in the world, just the sound of beautiful music by the Maestro himself, Mr. Barry White, family, friends, fun. Best time of my life.
You know what? It was true godliness. Because positive energy is what it's all about and when we were on the dance floor there wasn't anything more positive.
HI KARL: I was 13 in 1973. WOW HOW I MISS THOSE DAYS! Those really and truly were the GOOD OLD DAYS! No I take that back-----THE GREAT OLD DAYS! God bless ya!
We were living in Bismarck, ND at the time when a tornado was spotted. My Dad "piled" all of us in the Dodge Polara, said goodbye to the neighbor and off we went TOP SPEED!! This song was on the radio. My Dad will forever be my Hero.
@@ledonwissner2200 Thank you, I miss him very much. Now I have Dad's loaded 2005 Chevy Silverado in storage. 46,000 on it and it STILL smells FACTORY! I only drive it for about 2 months in the Summer. Last year I put on 102 miles, so yes...I baby it! Everyone wants to buy it!
I remember being a kid and hearing this song and it always made me feel like I was about to take flight. I would shut my eyes and the music just filled me up until I thought I would explode with life. I know this sounds a bit over the top but it is true and when i listened to it even now, I feel that same joy that can only come from music like this.
Ohhh me too....the absolute high!!!! Transcending all woes...someone said its on God's Playlist and of that I am sure..since he wrote it through Barry!!!!!
Same here only father was the drinker what a nightmare growing up an only child in a home that was broken always fighting about the money we never had .
Estuve buscando por muchos años está canción. Mi mamá murió durante la pandemia en 2020. Ella solía bailar esta melodía con mucha ligereza y encanto. Solía sacarme a bailar. Ella se sentía joven al bailar y me transmitió su energía. Te he encontrado, mamá. Sigue bailando con los angeles. ❤
Cuanto lo siento por su perdida, retomó sus palabras y tiene mucha razón su mami está en las alturas de los cielos disfrutandolo porque este tema en palabras simples y comunes es celestial, un fuerte abrazo dios te bendiga 🙏
George Harley Rider the 70’s produced such a phenomenal amount of incredible music! Best decade for music by leaps and bounds, and film was having another golden age in Hollywood, I wish I could have lived then, it makes me sad and worried what’s become of our world, music, art, film... it’s all atrocious today
Still LOVE this song today...we kick off our pool opening EVERY summer with this song. Love Barry White and LOVE 70s music! How can you be in a bad mood listening to this?!
The perfect fusing of orchestra and electric guitar. In the early disco days a DJ could get by just playing the King and Queen of Disco. And did! I am going to throw in a little Norma Desmond and say. We didnt need words. We had beats. And that we did. No words! Love to Love you, I feel Love, Fly Robin Fly, The Hustle.
This blew my mind when I first heard it at 12 years old in 1974 and it still does to this day..Thanks forever to the maestro himself Barry White for this classic...
AMEN to that Mr. Diamond! I am older than you (pushing 70), but I remember when I first heard this song... I was totally blown away, especially by the violins. At least we can look back and reminisce on those wonderful, uncomplicated, non-pandemic days. G-d bless!
This is a masterpiece by Barry White, right along with Isaac Haye's Theme from Shaft. Both should be played to young folk, especially young black folk, so that they can hear what excellent and professional music sounds like. When I hear one, and think of the other. Barry White and Isaac Hayes could do it all, ie, sing, arrange, produce, and put together an orchestra. Absolutely awesome. Check out both songs.
James - agree 100% with your comment. It's neither ageist nor subjective to say that compared to what is forgettable in popular music today, the songwriting quality of masterpieces like Loves Theme will be remembered 40 years from now.
I dont know why and really dont understand what has happened in the USA since the 1970s and why it is so divided now, it wasnt always so obvious in the 1970s ands thats from my own personal observations since I was there in the late 1970s. Doesnt make sense that a country that produces music that obviously Unites so many different types of people, can still have these "stark" racial divisions in the "advanced society" of the 21st century, just doesnt make any sense to me at all.
The 70s...the golden age of music. Many of the songs of the era will bring a tear or two to the eyes. Reminiscing on those magnificent years. Happiest times of my life.
You have no idea how much I understand and have the same feelings. I know they say that looking back in time makes everything look better than it was, BUT IT WAS.
Gene Page was the man who arranged these magnificent strings and horns!! How about a “thumbs up” for him? He and Barry were very good friends and their legacy should be remembered by all who hear this tune!!
Very late one night many years ago I was alone and driving across Central Texas in my Austin-Healey 3000 Mark III, top down, pulling about 2800 RPMs and listening to the throaty rumble of an engine that was perfectly in sync. I was the only one on that long, straight highway and I had never seen so many stars or breathed fresher air. This song was playing on the tape deck. There are those rare times when you are perfectly happy and at peace with the world. This was one of mine.
I had a really similar moment only last month. My dad and I just bought a Jaguar XJS V12. There was a break in the bad weather, so I took it out for a drive. Where it's such a cad's car, for a laugh my dad had put a Barry White CD in the changer. I came to a road closed sign, turned around and drove back on a lovely bit of empty road in the rare Feburary sunshine, and this track came on. I knew it would all be short lived because of the current events unfolding, so made the most of it. I've never been more relaxed.
I'm the same age. Born in 1962. On the cusp between true boomers and generation X. I think people our age have a special appreciation for music like this. Good thoughts.
This tune a master piece of music was wri by Barry... A man that couldn't read or write music.. He would walk around. Los Angeles humming and singing into a dictafone to write the score for each instrument and give the tape to a musical arranger to record it... Genius dose not sum up his talent. Gifted might come close, but not close enough. ❤️
I’m 86 years young and grew up in the 50s, I first heard this song in 1973 and still love it I hope you 70’s children don’t mind.

This is nothing short of a masterpiece! RIP, Barry.
The violins sound like they are actually singing themselves. No words needed. Just listen. Thank you Barry.
Your absolutely right Annie and the words are comforting
Yes.
18 years old in 1973 young and carefree and listening to classic songs like this......unforgettable days
I was 10 years old and we still loved it.
I was seven! Love it then. Love it now. Those were great music days.
I was 13 in 73. The 70s was the best music of the that time and still is.
I was also 18, high school class of 1973 - a great time to be alive!
I was 17 in Japan.I lived in Roppongi, Tokyo.I often went to the disco.
While in bumper to bumper traffic I was blasting Love's Theme and someone asked me what's the name of that song. I'm 66 and still play their music today. Barry White's arrangement is perfection. A timeless classic.
Don't forget Gene Page, who co-arranged. His solo album is excellent.
bruh what kind of chariot you drive?
Beautiful music from a time when being a kid was riding around on your bike with a transistor radio hanging from the handlebars and having fun with your friends...no Instagram filling your head with poison.
Yes 👍
Oh men, you are so right....!
💯
Bless ya D

Beautiful song. Takes me back to 1974 when I was in high school and I was 17. If only I could go back there and leave 2020 far behind.
I was only 13 when this tune came out 8th grade. Another great tune was MFSB''s The Sound Of Philadelphia still have that 45 from 1973.
Me to, Linda. Be Safe.
You and me both 🤣🤣🤣
@@edwardsimon5093 Then there's "Theme from SWAT" By Rythum Heritage another great instrumental. I have this tune both the shorten longer version on 45.
I was 12 and had to listened to this through SW (short wave) radio. well, I live in Indonesia and this kind of song was not in radio's playlist and no store would sell this. then I got Barry White's cassette ... bam! thank you!
The best music ever!!! Nothing can compare to the 70's !!
Unforgettable!!!
My grandfather threw me for a loop in my teenage years I asked where the song came from and he told me it was from chariots of fire LOL
100% The Love, the Strings, The Joy, The Innocence, The Hope, The Heat... everything xx

RIP 🙏

Soooooooooooooo not true - I make my own beautiful music - but I get ya point xD
Claudia thank you for sharing. My Dad loved this and so do I.
God bless her Claudia. She is a lady of great taste! This is music heaven by the legendary Barry White.

I got on the parachutes with him, and I slid
down under the bar.
Zooo lekker.

You truly are blessed!

Barry White was a musical genius. Sad I don't really hear many people talk about Barry's music these days. R.I.P Maestro Of Love! 💛
Barry retaliated with 90s soul music saying ha! Beat that they couldn't say nothing then
A genuine talent

There will never be music and artists like the 50's, 60's, or 70's again. Thank goodness for recordings to keep cherish memories alive.
70s and 80s were the very best due to the harmonic usages of orchestrational arrangements just like this music. These kind of flowing orchestrational arrangements were lacking in the 50s and 60s

Once Again … The One .. The Only… The Maestro … Conductor , the producer , the lyricist , and top of the charts hit maker …BARRY WHITE
Amen to the above comment ✌🏿
Ain’t that the truth! 👍😊

Flamenco57 I could have danced you
Flamenco57 well said. From your lips to God's ears.Peace friend ❤
I feel like the late 70's brought people together. The music, dance, disco.

The 70s...the golden age of music. Many of the songs of the era will bring a tear or two to the eyes. Reminiscing on those magnificent years. Happiest times of my life.
I live through those times a little kid growing up in New-Jersey and it wasn't too pleasant
You too?
You have no idea how much I understand and have the same feelings. I know they say that looking back in time makes everything look better than it was, BUT IT WAS.
Thanks so much. I was a tween when this came out. 👍 .
Mine Too Indeed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE 70S The BEST ERA EVER !!!!!!!!! YOU SAID IT RIGHT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gene Page was the man who arranged these magnificent strings and horns!! How about a “thumbs up” for him? He and Barry were very good friends and their legacy should be remembered by all who hear this tune!!
Thank you for that wonderful lesson in history!🥰
Wow thanks for that history lesson!🥰
Timeless! And thank you for the history lesson 👍
Gene Page was one of the most celebrated and prolific arrangers of orchestral parts, especially during the 1970s. Massive respect to him!
Pure class--totally smooooth! Thank-you Mr Page!
HALO101st nice!
Love it. You took me right there with you. 🕶
On the tape deck? Wow Take Me Back!
AUSTINS ARE RARE
I am a big fan of Barry White, and I’m still a number one fan of Barry way to this day and never will stop. He is the best of the best.
The One and Only Barry White!!! There will never be another like him! R.I.P. Maestro!
Yep,with his hair and silk suits,he is unforgettable.
Don't forget Gene Page.
He arranged the strings
Tens of millions - hundreds of millions - of people feel the same as you!
This is the Classiest Instrumental Song that was ever recorded! I just Love it! It is Timeless! It sounds just as good as it did in 1973!

Born in '75 ,grew up in the 80's i couldn't ask for a better time to have my childhood filled with simple fun and music that can never be reproduced.
If only we could be children forever.
Born in ‘73. I miss those years so much!
62 yrs now and wish I was back there cant compare
77 here and I FEEL YOU. We grew up with some truly amazing music. ☺️
'75 here as well. I wouldn't trade the era I was raised in for anything in the world, other than for my kids to have the same experience.
If the world was going to end in 7 minutes, this is the song I'd play whilst dancing
Amen 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
This tune a master piece of music was wri by Barry... A man that couldn't read or write music.. He would walk around. Los Angeles humming and singing into a dictafone to write the score for each instrument and give the tape to a musical arranger to record it... Genius dose not sum up his talent. Gifted might come close, but not close enough. ❤️
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
I'd play The Last Farewell by Roger Whittaker...''There's a ship lies rigged and ready in the harrr-borrrr 🎵🎶
Listen to this in langkawi best instrumental ever x
