Same! 1958. Glorious 1970s and ELO was such a big part of the soundtrack of our lives then. In 1979, I made a road trip to California and heard so many hits on the car radio. Discovery album and all those great disco hits are ingrained to my memories of the time.
So true , I love all different types of styles of music , But all my absolute favourites are real bands with proper instruments, can't beat a real drum beat 😊

Addicted to this song. When I want to feel good, I throw it on, and immediately, I start to feel better. Love the chorus. Amazing classic that has everything I need and the vocals are dreamy.
We buried my father in December 2021 and he asked for this at his ceremony. What a great song to say goodbye. I grew up listening to him play ELO and their songs bring back so many memories .
Oh My Darling so much Love to You , I was just rethinking My funeral song hearing this blast from the past Loved them since the 70s much respect for Jeff Lynn and Bev Bevan.. Is it 21 instruments Jeff can play !!?!?!? Got to see them before I meet My maker Tc love
I don't think most fans of this song realize how skilled the musicians are on this recording. The "bassline" in the verses is actually two different instruments playing simultaneously: a bass guitar and a keyboard (clavinet). The keyboardist and bassist are both playing that riff absolutely perfectly in sync with one other, which is practically impossible to do - even in the studio (Don't forget, this album was recorded with analog technology, which means they had to get the performance perfect in real life in order for it to be on the recording that way!)
Most bands on past decades were well qualified on instrumentals, esp those with international fame. Band mates were musically experienced and some of them even classical trained in early stages.
"The keyboardist and bassist are both playing that riff absolutely perfectly in sync with one other, which is practically impossible to do - even in the studio" Yeah, I don't think you know what you are talking about it... It's perfectly possible for 2 musicians to play the same part in sync, especial in the studio.
I know people used to love saying 'disco sucks', but this is actually one of the best disco songs ever - it has an engaging, propulsive melody and intelligent lyrics. In its own right it's a masterpiece to boot. Far and away this is one of the best songs ever written in the late 20th century and I've always liked it and still like it many decades later.
I was born in the late 90s, but I discovered this music for myself a few years ago. ELO is now one of my favorite bands! My two favorites are this song and shine a little love. One of the things I discovered is that good music is timeless. It may still be a product of its era, but I see no reason why I can't love this band and this song today.
Lyrics: It was nine twenty-nine Nine twenty-nine, back street, big city The sun was going down There was music all around, it felt so right It was one of those nights One of those nights when you feel the world stop turning You were standing there There was music in the air I should have been away But I knew I had to stay Last train to London Just heading out Last train to London Just leaving town But I really want tonight to last forever I really wanna be with you Let the music play on down the line tonight It was one of those nights One of those nights when you feel the fire is burning Everybody was there, everybody to share It was so right There you were on your own Looking like you were the only one around I had to be with you Nothing else that I could do I should have been away But I knew I had to stay Last train to London Just heading out Last train to London Just leaving town But I really want tonight to last forever I really wanna be with you Let the music play on down the line tonight Underneath a starry sky Time was still but hours must really have rushed by I didn't realize But love was in your eyes I really should have gone But love went on and on Last train to London Just heading out Last train to London Just leaving town But I really want tonight to last forever I really wanna be with you Let the music play on down the line tonight But I really want tonight to last forever I really wanna be with you Let the music play on down the line tonight
In 1992 I lived in London, and when I heard this song 15 years later and closed my eyes I vividly saw London circa 1992. That experience opened ELO and Jeff for me. Thanks Jeff! -- you made my day when I was feeling good, and you help me go through a loss right now (I am crying right now. She did not deserve all this suffering, and I could do nothing to save her. I am a pathetic failure). Thank you, Jeff, you are great!
Last train to London It was 9:29 9:29 back street big city. The sun was going' down There was music all around It felt so right. It was one of those nights One of those nights when you feel the world stop turning You were standing there There was music in the air I should have been away But I knew I'd have to stay. Last train to London Just heading out Last train to London Just leaving town. But I really want tonight to last forever I really wanna be with you. Let the music play on down the line tonight. It was one of those nights One of those nights when you feel the fire is burning Everybody was there Everybody to share It was so right. There you were on your own Looking like you were the only one around I had to be with you Nothing else that I could do I should have been away But I knew I'd have to stay. Last train to London Just heading out Last train to London Just leaving town. But I really want tonight to last forever I really wanna be with you. Let the music play on down the line tonight. Underneath a starry sky Time was still but hours must really have rushed by I didn't realize But love was in your eyes I really should have gone But love went on and on... Last train to London Just heading out Last train to London Just leaving town. But I really want tonight to last forever I really wanna be with you. Let the music play on down the line tonight. But I really want tonight to last forever I really wanna be with you. Let the music play on down the line tonight.
Jeff Lynne's ELO Music is the best therapy in very tough times. Thank you Jeff Lynne for your outstanding contribution to the Music world and to bring brightness and joy to our lives.
I grew up in the seventies and heard ELO on the radio all the time, but being just a kid I didnt know who they were. After Guardians of the Galaxy used their music, I really got into them. Jeff Lynne is an amazing talent.
When this song first came out we were kids and hanging around our pool. We all ran and each grabbed our radio to tune this song so it played ALL OVER AND AROUND! Golden days. Thanks ELO!
I am not 63 but 53, I was just a child by then and I could see how older peolpe were dancing like a crazy boy I mean that it was so excited, anyone got real juyfull by listening this real big musical composition. I was a child from El Salvador and that music got me crazy too. I felt so excited whenever I heard it. Still today. It take back on time. Just imagine yourself.
What else can se expect?? There won not be anything better than this musical producción everrrr. I am 53 ,I was just a child when this came out I felt it so right, so good by they and still today,,simple I love itttt
ELO! В ELO наиболее отчётливо!

Soy súper ochentosa/setentosa y me encanta.
This is from the era when you turn on the radio , and the only music you get is ENTERTAINING music . Man , the music those days were out of this world , out of this world .
@@andrageels I was born in 1997 and even I appreciate the good quality of composing and physical instruments instead of virtually sampled shit that is played nowadays
Some facts about Jeff Lynne (ELO)...First, he is a very humble man, simply because this Music Genius is not interested in fame, the limelight, and money, he just loves to create great music. Jeff Lynne is one of the most versatile musicians ever, this is why he is considered by his peers to be among the greatest. He didn't stick to one style of music because, after decades, it gets boring. Jeff has done progressive Rock, Symphonic Rock - Pop, New wave, and Disco. Everything he does turns to gold. He even flirted with Country music. From 1972 to 1986 (During 14 years) Jeff Lynne's Electric Light Orchestra has had more top 40 hits than any other group in the world... 51 years later they still play in sold-out Arenas, festivals and Stadiums. During Jeff Lynne's ELO 2019 Tour, many reviews agreed in saying they are the best live Classic Rock Band in the world still touring and Jeff Lynne is a Music Genius( From Forbes Magazine and the Washington Post). ELO is in the Rock Hall of Fame. Lynne is on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame and Birmingham Walk OF Fame. Jeff Lynne’s ELO won the Best Classic Rock Band plus Lynne won the best Songwriter award ( ASCAP ) in 2019 for his fantastic contribution over the years. In October of 2020, Jeff Lynne has been made an officer of The Order Of The British Empire for his extraordinary contribution to music. He previously has received three Ivor Novello Awards, which celebrate songwriters and composers, including the award for outstanding services to British music. He created the best Super Group of all time with his best friend George Harrison, The Traveling Wilburys. The Legends in the Music Industry call Jeff Lynne the best overall Musician ever and a Producer Extraordinaire. Jeff Lynne has written and produced many hit songs for music legends like George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, Joe Walsh, Brian Wilson, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Bryan Adams, Aerosmith, Del Shannon, the Everly Brothers, The Beatles, and so many others...In June 2023 Jeff Lynne was inducted in The Songwriters Hall Of Fame ❤👍💯
On ELO’s recently recorded live concert, he says at one point “Right, this is a song by a group called the Travelling Wilburys,” and proceeds to play Handle with Care.
It's amazing how Jeff Lynne has kept his wonderful voice...He will be 72 in a few months and i can't wait to see him in concert once more this Summer of 2019 in the USA and Canada. Long live Jeff Lynne's ELO!!!!
I’m born 1968 and I absolutely love this song. There is a Kristy McNichol 1970 dance sequence to it. Watch it - it’s amazing - ELO forever …, thank you for the best life music. I know Elton loves this song.
I have listened to ELO since the seventies. Many years have gone by, and I have had many years of total enjoyment listening to them. Now in my 85th year a day does not go by without me getting my ELO fix. Love them to bits. Why Jeff has not been knighted by this time is beyond understanding when you look at some of the rubbish that has been “recognised” !
I'm only 37 now so ELO was before my time but I have been a fan since I first heard them when I was a teenager. I was like a fish out of water senior year of high school driving my 70 Plymouth Duster and blasting ELO out the speakers in 2004. Me and my roommate took ours moms to see Jeff Lynne's ELO in 2019 and it was fantastic, he still has some pipes and it was a great show.
My bro graduated high school in 76, as a kid brother I listened to all this great 70s music since we shared a bedroom, this music transports me back to a much better simpler time.
Jonn Lennon must have been a hell of a fan of Jeff Lynne since he also said that if the Beatles didn't break they would have sound like E.L.O in the 70's.
My friends and I are die hard ELO Fans. I own every record they made. Saw them in concert several times. They don't have groups like this anymore. Brings back a lot of great memories.
I don't think they are underrated. Jeff Lynne has been recognized as one of the best composer and producers in the music industry. He even produced the last Beatles record with McCartney in the late 1990's. Also, given this single video now has 74 million views, I'd say ELO is a cult band in its own right. ;) BTW, I was too young to hear their music at the time but discovered them later on and loved it for the originality and musicality. It became one of my favorite bands and I still listen to their songs a few times a year. :)
My husband's favorite song and group. Miss him so much. We played this at his funeral. Now, I share this music with our toddler, and she LOVES it just like her daddy did.
My favourite song from the Discovery album. LTTL makes me want to fly to London, England and play this out loud in the train from Heathrow Airport to London.
Bass and clavinet in unison during intro and verses, then classic disco style bass alone during the choruses by the criminally underrated Kelly Groucutt (RIP)
+Joshua “Josh” Gill Yeah and it's interesting because despite what many seem to think, they rarely did actual disco :) They didn't use that disco beat or feel often.

Temazo!! Saludos desde Lima- Perú.
I loved ELO back in the 70s & 80s. This song brings back happy memories of those distant days. What a great songwriter Jeff Lynn was! What a great band ELO were.
ELO is probably the most underrated rock band in history.
All their albums are pure gems.

Born in the 80s, so I’m young. But Dad had ELO tapes, and I listened to them so much as a child. We need ELO again!
Same with me, born in the 80s and my parents had all this music. We must keep passing these gems down to our kids.
We buried my father in December 2021 and he asked for this at his ceremony. What a great song to say goodbye. I grew up listening to him play ELO and their songs bring back so many memories .
And subsequently my 14 year old son , 12 year old daughter and 14 year old niece are all ELO fans.
Condolences to u bro. Your father had great taste in music
My son also borrowed My' Out of the Blue double LP never to be returned , originally cos he loved the Artwork ... Unique band x
@@gavinsimms2626 i am sorry. But jeff
That is the difference of good old times: music education versus no-any-education.
"The keyboardist and bassist are both playing that riff absolutely perfectly in sync with one other, which is practically impossible to do - even in the studio"
Yeah, I don't think you know what you are talking about it...
It's perfectly possible for 2 musicians to play the same part in sync, especial in the studio.
Dude they didn’t even usually record all parts at the same time, they’d record onto tape and cut the final recordings and and sync up the tapes

For me..the Band that captured the Beatles sound, and carried it into my youth,..im a 63 baby.
Una obra maestra sin duda .

Lyrics:
It was nine twenty-nine
Nine twenty-nine, back street, big city
The sun was going down
There was music all around, it felt so right
It was one of those nights
One of those nights when you feel the world stop turning
You were standing there
There was music in the air
I should have been away
But I knew I had to stay
Last train to London
Just heading out
Last train to London
Just leaving town
But I really want tonight to last forever
I really wanna be with you
Let the music play on down the line tonight
It was one of those nights
One of those nights when you feel the fire is burning
Everybody was there, everybody to share
It was so right
There you were on your own
Looking like you were the only one around
I had to be with you
Nothing else that I could do
I should have been away
But I knew I had to stay
Last train to London
Just heading out
Last train to London
Just leaving town
But I really want tonight to last forever
I really wanna be with you
Let the music play on down the line tonight
Underneath a starry sky
Time was still but hours must really have rushed by
I didn't realize
But love was in your eyes
I really should have gone
But love went on and on
Last train to London
Just heading out
Last train to London
Just leaving town
But I really want tonight to last forever
I really wanna be with you

In 1992 I lived in London, and when I heard this song 15 years later and closed my eyes I vividly saw London circa 1992. That experience opened ELO and Jeff for me. Thanks Jeff! -- you made my day when I was feeling good, and you help me go through a loss right now (I am crying right now. She did not deserve all this suffering, and I could do nothing to save her. I am a pathetic failure). Thank you, Jeff, you are great!

Último tren a Londres
Último tren a Londres
Dirigiéndose ya afuera
Último tren a Londres
Realmente quiero estar contigo
Último tren a Londres
Dirigiéndose ya afuera
Último tren a Londres
Realmente quiero estar contigo
Yo no me di cuenta
Pero el amor estaba en tus ojos
Yo realmente debería haberme ido
Pero el amor continuó sin parar
Último tren a Londres
Dirigiéndose ya afuera
Último tren a Londres
Realmente quiero estar contigo
Realmente quiero estar contigo
O no alli!!???

I don't think they are underrated. Jeff Lynne has been recognized as one of the best composer and producers in the music industry. He even produced the last Beatles record with McCartney in the late 1990's.
Also, given this single video now has 74 million views, I'd say ELO is a cult band in its own right. ;)

💜💜💜💜💜👌👌👌👌👋👋👋👋
Me encantaaaaaa el bajooo
R.I.P. Kelly. His bassplay is the cherry on the cake. Perfect song.
:-(
My favourite song from the Discovery album. LTTL makes me want to fly to London, England and play this out loud in the train from Heathrow Airport to London.
Genios totales, tengo 58 años y todavía me emociona escucharlos
👍🙏
The bass line is a nightmare, hard hard hard!
MASTERPIECE!
not a bass, synth
Olafdunord Clav and bass doubled
dude, there is ALSO a bass playing there!
Bass and clavinet in unison during intro and verses, then classic disco style bass alone during the choruses by the criminally underrated Kelly Groucutt (RIP)
Well that's something. ELO has made a disco song I actually like. That shouldn't be possible
+Joshua “Josh” Gill Yeah and it's interesting because despite what many seem to think, they rarely did actual disco :) They didn't use that disco beat or feel often.
+Joshua “Josh” Gill , it's rhytmic and dancing, but it's not disco. Drum line is not "four to the floor"
+Joshua “Josh” Gill "evil woman" was also a bit disco wasn't it ?
This is Disco... Not hardcore deep disco ... But disco for sure !!
I love them because my mum used to put their CD's on when we travelled and went out of radio coverage. Good driving songs too

What music truly translates into.. not the garbage we see nowadays
Yeah
Clearly you’ve never heard of Jacob Collier, his music is not garbage and there’s plenty of amazing music out there from all decades.
Just sayin 🙄
@@jeanamillis3078 THAT'S WHAT I SAYING

All I’m saying is all decades have great music, and absolutely ELO was topping charts in the 70’s. Just open your music horizon a lil bro
It was nine twenty-nine
Nine twenty-nine, back street, big city
The sun was going down
There was music all around, it felt so right
It was one of those nights
One of those nights when you feel the world stop turning
You were standing there
There was music in the air
I should have been away
But I knew I had to stay
Last train to London
Just heading out
Last train to London
Just leaving town
But I really want tonight to last forever
I really wanna be with you
Let the music play on down the line tonight
It was one of those nights
One of those nights when you feel the fire is burning
Everybody was there, everybody to share
It was so right
There you were on your own
Looking like you were the only one around
I had to be with you
Nothing else that I could do
I should have been away
But I knew I had to stay
Last train to London
Just heading out
Last train to London
Just leaving town
But I really want tonight to last forever
I really wanna be with you
Let the music play on down the line tonight
Underneath a starry sky
Time was still but hours must really have rushed by
I didn't realize
But love was in your eyes
I really should have gone
But love went on and on
Last train to London
Just heading out
Last train to London
Just leaving town
But I really want tonight to last forever
I really wanna be with you
Let the music play on down the line tonight
But I really want tonight to last forever
I really wanna be with you
Let the music play on down the line tonight
Nice
Merci 😃
Songs telling a story are the best, you can make your own movie listening to it…
Nice copy paste lol

Electric Light Orchestra, One of my many favorite song's of yesteryear..." Last train to London"....💕🥀

I loved ELO back in the 70s & 80s. This song brings back happy memories of those distant days. What a great songwriter Jeff Lynn was! What a great band ELO were.
I know well what you mean
You are right
Good music
They still exist and making tours....
