yeah, my mom rarely buys unhealthy food because she knows it's bad for me. I was born naturally thin but you can easily get overweight from lack of exercise and unhealthy foods. if you're having trouble losing weight right now, keep on pushing yourself and strive to be the healthiest you can be!
Hearing the parents say that their kids were already overweight when they were 2-6 makes me think it's not fair to blame the kids for their relationship with food...
Yeah, especially if their first comfort is binge eating, I wonder where they would get that from? If the parents are fat, they are probably not encouraging a healthy life style. Lana’s family for example gave their dogs fries instead of actual dog food. Their parents need to set an example for their kids.
It's not that fats are bad. They're just fed more than they burn. It's literally as simple as calories in, calories out. It doesn't help that the foods that they buy or make are high in saturated fats. Those are linked to heart disease, saturated fats clogging arteries therefore increasing blood pressure and risk of heart disease. The parents are literally setting her up for a miserable life. A short one at that. Type 2 diabetes doesn't exactly sound fun at that age either.
Woah woah woah! Are we ignoring that Lana is a primary carer for her mother and that has almost certainly had an effect on her life and what her priories are. I wish I could give her and her sister an enormous hug.
It sounds like she is under an enormous amount of stress for a child. I feel for her mother, but she needs an aide and not put that burden on her daughters. But I also get that that is a luxury their family likely cannot afford. It is such a sad situation.
"she gained a stone every year, when she was three she was three stone..." isnt that the fault of the one providing the food? specially at that age?? -_-
Adam's mother seems to blame everyone except herself. The moment she said he comes out daily for his takeaway, i was like why is she feeding him the worst type of food?!

When they mentioned the idea of giving the kids McDonalds, I was thinking wtf? But it makes sense. Fast food is everywhere and it's good that they're showing them to be mindful of what they're eating.
I think a healthy weight is all about moderation. You can eat McDonald's, but don't go for the big Mac, large fry, and large drink and a dessert. @@aarondeer5719 okay, I'm not technically overweight (I've been dancing for 12 years, am pretty thin, and weigh like 140) but when you are a child you do what your parents say. I stayed thin as a child because I was in a dance studio at least a hour a dance 4-5 times a week by the time I was two. But, parents tell their kids to go on their phones, to go read, and such. A 6 year old can't say "I don't want to eat pizza and then take a nap." They do what mom and dad say. After 14 is when kids can start making their own decisions about their weight and how they feel about it. Because 14 yearold are in the final 4 years before they are legally a adult and can fully make their own decisions. So, some of these kids it's not their fault if mom gave them a burger every day. Really annoying how the parents of these kids seem to act like it’s entirely their children’s fault for being heavy when in reality the parents are the ones who gave them the food that they’re no currently addicted to. Like if you expect your child to take responsibility you have to as well!
Me and my sister, raised by same parents, same food, same attention. I'm 170 cm, 63 kg , she was 180 cm, 135 kg. She had weight loss surgery at 23, my mother was desperate with her. Squatting is a really unstable position so the kid may have grabbed her hair (common in toddlers) and she lost her balance.
Not gonna lie sounds a bit like behavioural problems above a parent’s control. When my brother was really young he was very very violent to the point he could beat me up (I am four years older than him) and he is on the autism spectrum. It’s very easy to judge when you’re not directly in the situation.
Parents are supposed to tell their kids no when they know something is a problem for their kids. Say no to gallons of coke a day! Say no to a TV in his room! Say yes to positive activities to use up his time.
I was confused why her mother seemed confused when Katie was mad when the gave them the pamphlet that’s basically saying she’s fat and needs to lose weight
these kids should be getting phycological help as much as the physical for the amount they eat. these teenagers show signs of binge eating disorder which should be treated as a mental health problem just as much as the physical.
Unfortunately most eating disorders are treated as physical illnesses rather than mental health issues that cause some physical complications. They make kids with BED restrict calories and lose weight the same way they put kids with anorexia on feeding tubes and gain weight then send them home. That’s also why most of the time when sufferers of eating disorders receive treatment they relapse treatments given hardly work it’s sad
When I saw the first girl’s “inspiration board” with essentially pro ana quotes, I got so sad. I hope they attended therapy sessions at this camp because it’s quite literally a gateway to anorexia/AFRID/Orthorexia
I've noticed that most parents didn't exclusively send their kids in just to lose weight, some were sent in for socialization, self esteem, etc. And the fact that the camp counselors are a lot younger which probably helps the kids connect to them easier.
Why do they ALWAYS let overweight people RUN??? That's the worst exercise you could do if you are overweight... Your knees are not happy with that kind of impact... I don't get it?
frr i'm overweight and i feel like complete shit when i run. i would rather swim or do low impact workouts and walking. They work better for me anyways lmao running sucks im losing weight and I haven't ran ONCE.
Teaching portion size for the foods that they eat and how to pick a meal at McDonald's is really smart. Makes more sense than giving them no choice, so they just go home and blow it.
Yeah the problem with a lot of American shows, especially the Biggest Loser is they make them eat like rabbits and then critize them for eating anything real. At one point they were given a treat in a room of chocolates with an amount they could eat but if they took any they actually lost. No one is going to give up sweets forever, even the skinniest and healthiest people eat sweets, it's not fair to expect people to never pick it up again.
Bekah Hoffman I agree that it’s unreasonable to expect people not to pick them up ever again, but as someone who has been on the ketogenic diet the past just over 7 months (with 90lbs lost, fatigue gone, depression improved, and many other benefits) and planning on doing low carb high fat for the rest of my life, it’s a mistake to think that you can’t have enjoyable foods without eating things that aren’t good for you. I have delicious food every day, while still having many nutrient dense Whole Foods. There are desserts I can have that have zero sugar and very few carbs that are as good as the real thing. It costs more time and money to make them, but worth it for a healthier rare treat. When it comes to sweets and carbs in general, once you stop eating them for a while and kind of break the addiction, you crave them a lot less, especially whilst in a fat burning state. That being said, again, you are right, and even after I reach my goal weight, although I plan on doing low carb 99% of the time, am I gonna deny myself some sugary tropical fruit if I go on vacation or something? Not have cake or pie on my birthday? No. And it’s no biggie if I do indulge on the rare special occasion.....because by then I’ll be so fat adapted that it won’t have much of an effect on me to cheat, but the assumption that maintainable weight loss is all about calorie in calories out no matter what junk you’re eating is plain out false ........(and that goes for how you feel as well as losing fat) and far more unmaintainable in the long run than (more or less) giving up the foods that are poison to our bodies and make us want to eat more and more of them (carbs, rather than fat/protein).
Jade I can’t understand how a two year old could have access to the quantity and types of foods to make you so overweight etc that a dietitian is required. I think the parents need as much education and fat camp help along with their kids!
I have to beg to differ here. My daughter... funny enough is also a Kadi.. has an issue where she doesn't register as full either. (we found this out when she was 4 months old -- and she is 11 now, and she is aware of healthy portions and she is working on comfort/boredom eating) It is an issue when kids will eat for comfort, or what have you, but that they NEVER feel full; it's a compounding issue. Teaching them healthy lifestyles; all around, is the only answer.
im just gonna say that i was super chubby in middle school and highschool- even with doing sports- cause my parents gave us a ton of fast food and icecream every day and stuff. As soon as i moved out for college and started cooking healthy foods for myself i lost a lot of weight. Sometimes the parents are the bigger problem than the kids
Depending on your weight losing 3 lbs per week is not unhealthy. Someone who is 400 lbs will need 1000s of calories per day to maintain that weight Cutting down to 2000-1500 calories per day plus exercise will equal massive weight loss.

Why do the parents like that it’s kids fault when they are buying fatting foods and fizzy drinks. Stop buying takeaways and fatty food

Parents should take responsibility for their children
All the parents are overweight themselves and wonder why their children eat so much from a young age???
Meret I know! it’s cleary because of genetics :(

Ema Shane Obviously that aswell, but if the mum is overweight while giving birth to a baby, the baby have a bigger chance of being overweight aswell:(
@@miriamwoldegebriel8881 genes dont work like that, a children of an obese person will be just as normal when born but will quickly gain weight because of the lifestyle and diet. @@brando8997 with genetics you can still have the ability to gain weight faster. so genetics matter. some people can eat everything without gaining weight at all and some just eat a bit and gain 3 pounds. so it definely also has something to do with genetics. like it really does matter if you have an underactive thyroid or hyperthyroidism.
Destiny is such a kind soul. I'm so happy they paired her and Lana together, I hope Lana still holds the confidence Destiny rubbed off on her!
So it's not all the time the parents fault. Some children will eat bread and sugar, parents can t lock all the food from them. My mom tried her best, my sister was let s say chubby when she was living with my parents. But when she went to college and had her own money, she became obese.
I understand where you are coming from, but many parents feel pushed to feel their children because they would feel entitled to continue giving and if they stop, it's bad. A more effective step would be, the school menu and instead of chips everyday, they could be given tastier but better alternatives.
Based, it's hardly ever the child fault. The parents would just rather continue failing just cause they cant accept the fact they've failed before. Absolute imbeciles
Lana’s mum literally said that she eats raw meats and tinned food if she locks the cupboard so there has to be a big bit of responsibility put on her there

Jade 2 is sooo young too! And when it’s such a young child obviously it’s the parents fault not the child’s.

Thank you. Losing 3 lbs a week is unhealthy too. What they're doing is probably hurting rather than helping in the long run
Depending on your weight losing 3 lbs per week is not unhealthy. Someone who is 400 lbs will need 1000s of calories per day to maintain that weight Cutting down to 2000-1500 calories per day plus exercise will equal massive weight loss.

Laura Brandstädter her mom is so awful! Framing her as some terrible kid saying she’s “naturally lazy” and that she seems sweet or others but SHE sees the other side. So toxic. These kids need counseling combined with nutrition and exercise. Having young camp leaders have not experienced issues with weight is a concern. Peer helpers that are easier to relate to would help.
In lanas case: her mother just didn‘t see her fault in lanas weight. In her baby pics you could see the chips and soft drinks. I mean small kids don‘t decide what they get to eat. Their parents have the responsibility to do that.

The women with the daughter who ate raw sausages... That's actually a huge sign of an illness that is very rare. I watched a video on the exact illness about a week ago. Can't remember the name though. If you look up "never ending hunger" it should show up. I believe it was made by the same people who did this video
I thought the exact same thing! It’s called prader willi syndrome I believe.
@@alli_gator2393 I had been curious about it because I am reading a manga about a vr treatment idea. (It's fantasy but is good.) They called it bulimia and I new that was wrong. I was so happy to find a video showing what it really is and how it is for people with the illness.
@The Raquel And Ian Show level up by only eating. Has a young boy eating soup on the cover.
Prader-Willi is easily diagnosed and has physical characteristics that this girl doesn’t have.
I don’t understand why mom didn’t try to find an answer by seeing a doctor. Seems that she was not worried to do anything about it which set up the daughter for a difficult life.
it’s much more likely that she suffers from binge eating disorder. It’s not that her body can’t be full, it’s that she loses control of her eating to the point where her bodies system for feeling full is overridden.

Amanda hutton but they’re in an unfamiliar setting. I agree, I don’t think there’s enough time to form healthy habits, especially when they go from somewhere this controlled right back to where their parents are enabling them and their peers are bullying them.
I really like that they picked katie as the one to show the effects, she's down to earth, open minded and really kind. She deserves only positive feedback from the comments
the mom is mad at adam for drinking 6 liters of coke a day but who buys them for him.......
Exactly.. so annoying, she said he pulled her on the floor when he was 2, as if!!
Exactly. Where’s he getting his pizza from? She keeps saying it’s his responsibility to change, but as his parent you need to provide him with healthy food
Ass backwards logic
Exactly, my parents did the same - we even bought it at Metro (Aro) to buy in bulk - and then my parents were wondering why we drank 3 bottles (at least 1liter each) of coke a day and sometimes no water whatsoever. The same goes for fast food when I was 10 I didn´t drive the car to McDonald's myself. Now my mum is diabetic and she still buys sweets at has them lying around her apartment. I leave mine sweets free, don´t even have sugar or honey at home (also so artificial sweeteners which are even worse), but I still have trouble when I visit my mom to say no to the sweets and I am still in the process of losing the weight I put on as a kid and when I lived with her. I hate it when parents find excuses for feeding their kids garbage and make them fat and the fault everyone else but themselves for it.
I mean....devil's advocate here...some people buy in bulk because it's cheaper. I tend to buy everything from chocolate to toilet paper in bulk because it's cheaper, doesn't mean I need to use it up the second it hits the cupboard. I feel like it's fair to be upset that you can't have anything at home for the rest of your family without one kid munching all of it in a day.

At school we do a fun run. If you get people to donate money for you multiply that times the amount of laps you run in a set amount of time (average 25-50 laps).
So you get 1 person to donate 1$. You get about 25-50$. 2 people = 50-100$. So on.
Then donate that to a charity and for the school.
kids happy tho cause 1$ donated (which will = about 25-50$at the end) = a bag of 5 dollar prizes.
