  • 0A shocking documentary revealing babies and toddlers being raised on diets of fast food, fries, burgers and pizza, all washed down with bottles of fizzy soda.
This programme explores the deep-seated reasons why parents resort to junk food feeding and follows three families as they desperately try and get back on the right nutritional track. From gentle food play to dramatic shocks, the parents team up with real experts who mentor them through the latest techniques as they try to wean their children off fast food and we found out whether these parents are even aware how harmful this food is for their children.

If I knew someone personally who treats their kids this way you know I would call CPS on them constantly. Those kids teeth are gonna be non existent by the time they are 20. Eroded to nothing. And maybe lower IQ/ brain damage due to decades of malnutrition from childhood. These parents are handicapping their kids and fucking their health in more ways then one. We would have to ask an expert what this diet does to the human body if started from childhood but I bet the list would be long of all symptoms and stuff that can happen.

This is insane. Our daughter went through a textures phase and so we met with a dietitian. Best advice she told us was, “a child never died of starvation with a plate full of food in front of them,” meaning that the child can say no to eating all they want and that’s fine. They’ll start to understand that when they are hungry, they’ll eat.

My son refused to eat anything except bread for three years. He would literally starve himself if I didn’t give him what he wanted and I caved every time. I would cry every night so terrified of what would happen to his health. We took a trip to his Aunt’s house about six months ago and she put her foot down. She forced him to eat what she served him or nothing at all and it was hard to watch but guess what? It worked. She made me promise to keep going when we left and I did just that. He now eats a variety of healthy foods and is more willing to try new things. I’m indebted to my sister. ❤

My baby had an eating disorder and would vomit if you even touched his tongue with food. I knew he should be eating real food but every meal turned into him crying and then me crying. We got help after a few months. I didn’t know feeding therapy was even a thing. Turns out he had a sensory based eating disorder and his gag reflex was triggered at the front of his mouth. We spent almost two years in feeding therapy. We had to retrain the reflex, then develop a routine where the table was a pleasant place where he was encouraged to touch, smell, lick, then put the food in his mouth and then spit it out….then eventually chew it up and eat it. We worked so hard. I’ll never forget that first meeting with the therapist and her getting him to eat a freeze dried yogurt bite. I sat in the corner with tears rolling down my cheeks. She let him go play with books and toys in another corner and then turned to me and gently said “ok, so no more crying mom. You will never cry at the table again. You can cry when he is asleep if you need to, but he will not see distress from you about food ever again, understand?” I committed to it. My now 6 yr old eats broiled fish with veggies, his favorite food is chicken salad and while we have an occasional fast food meal, he knows that is a rarity. I make homemade pizzas and cookies here and there so he isn’t deprived of the fun things, but we talk about our food and how it helps our body work right and feel good. It’s been a long journey but I’m doing the best I can.

Took her about 3 or 4 days to get over it, but she ate more healthy foods without a fight after that. We just slowed down our after work hours and took the time to cook better foods rather than rushing to get to the next thing. We realized we were making our 4 year old child adapt to our fast lifestyle rather than slowing down for her in order to give her a better life. I can relate with the second parent as my son was exactly their son. He won’t anything healthy and freshly cooked food when he was a toddler. As an Indian I love to cook everything from scratch and my husband and eldest daughter all love to eat greens and fruits. Even my paediatrician asked me to give him everything he likes even if it’s unhealthy. I bought and cooked French fries, chicken nuggets, pizzas etc just so that he eats something. It was really frustrating and I felt so guilty feeding him fastfood everyday. I just did one thing differently before I give him his choice of unhealthy food I made him eat one bite of freshly cooked food and one fruits bite. Initially it was difficult but later it became a habit and slowly by the time he was 3 years old he started eating a wide varieties of fruits, broccoli, French beans and now at the age of 11 he eats everything. He particularly likes lentil, rice and veggie stew(khichri) he even takes it for his lunch. On Mother’s Day he made roti and chicken curries with my 19 year. I’m happy the young couple got help to address their problems. I’m sure the kid will grow out if his addiction as parents are eating healthy themselves

As a child, I wasn't appreciative of my parents' healthy, homecooked meals which they made for us from scratch every, single night without fail which we ate around a dinner table. I wanted what my classmates had; frozen meals, chips, pizza, takeaway, fast food. But now I'm 29, I love cooking and I eat healthily. Proper parenting is a hard, thankless job but I'm grateful now that my parents put the work in and raised me well.

my dad was an Italian family raised chef, we ate a good overall mediterranean diet....the problem came when my parents divorced. I lived with my dad more than my mom, when she picked us up on Friday night the first stop was to our favorite fast food. My dad mocked her for making Mac and cheese "in a box" and junk food...I think when she died my brother dealt with it by going to the gym and I dealt with it by eating and my dad was so stressed and busy he never really explained why the processed food and junk food was bad. Got worse when I had my own. money I ate for friendship, comfort, and to rebel in a way I would say. But this is truly disgusting.

It's not killed during pasteurization, so live bacteria can be found in regular cow's milk from the store. The infection is pretty common, over 60% of US cattle are infected, though I don't know for UK. It's also been found in retail chicken and pork, though highest risk is in ground beef. The cows that are culled due to the infection are usually used for ground beef. This has led to them visiting less because I cannot get them to eat. Before their visits, their parents and I talk in great detail about options. My youngest grandson is 4. He had a complete melt down when we walked past McDonald's one day. They have become used to processed foods, preservatives, salt, sugar, soda etc. I don't eat like that. I'm Plant based raw nuts and seeds,I juice daily. Salads, veggies, fish. I cannot afford to feed myself and purchase outside fast foods. I have spoken to their parents. Also he is obsessed with a certain chicken chain (it is damn good lol) and we limit him on that as well but make sure he gets it at least once a week but he understands that he can't eat it everyday even if he wants to ..I'm glad these people are getting help bc imagine all the people who just don't .
