Thanks Stanley, for the demonstration, From personal experience I prefer the Lav mic wired to the inside of the button down shirt, it breaks any outdoor sound and wind and picks up the voice well. Keep in mind if the talent is speaking with a dramatic flair and for example turns his head from the camera to lets say point to something while speaking the voice also turns from the shotgun mic and sound drops, whereas a lav mic follows the voice even if the back is turned. from the camera in a fairly close to camera shoot. I feel the bang for the buck is the Rode's Pro lav mic hard wired to the talent.
Excellent video! The test were extremely useful. I’m trying to figure out what would be the best option for me and this was very helpful 😊 thanks for creating this video!
Great video, I like your calm vibes u seem like a good dude. A question, when filming with Videomic NTG on camera. What volumes do you have in camera audio settings and on the NTG mic ? 1-15 ?
Great video! You mentioned at the end that the shot gun mic is better outdoors. I wonder if attaching the lavalier mic to wireless Go would improve the outdoor sound quality.
Thank you!! Easy to overlook due to the shape not looking like a normal lav mic, but the Rode Wireless GO is already a wireless lav mic - a pretty good one at that. Perhaps placement differences might help though, with a traditional lav mic being closer to or hugging against your voice box/chest and picking up better sound that way. But again because it is omnidirectional, it has more potential to pick up ambient sound. Results may vary depending on setup though!
Very good educational suggestions! Life will be much better and easier only if you know how to handle useful hi tech equipment in a smart creative way! Well done!
In a controlled environment, I think the Rode NTG does a better job, but the lav is more versatile in more situations if it's always a single talking-head video.
i was actually searching for a new lav mic. question, does the quality of lav matter when attached to the rode go? will a lesser quality lav decrease the quality of the rode?
It definitely matters. I have a $30 lav mic that I’d consider to be not bad and actually pretty great considering the price, but the rode wireless go is very picky. Using what I had with the unit resulted in some strange high pitched interference in the background. So I just ordered the $80 one from Rode. Can’t tell you about it since I haven’t gotten it yet, but it’s made for this unit. I’d anticipate no issues!
I was very impressed by the Lav mic. I heard more background noise with the shot gun mic. Maybe because of the wind but either way great quality.

I agree with those additional considerations! They're both great options, it all depends on the specific style that you're filming in.
Great video, Stanley! Thank you for sharing!
Very good quality video! This is what I'm thinking about! Subbed!!!

My camera audio settings are very low, around 1 to 3 I believe, and on the NTG I typically range from 10-12.

*Great informative review 👍 ✨ ✨ ✨*
I’m confused which one was overall the better quality

What are your settings and edit if any on the audio for your NTG
Love the sound quality 👍🏾👍🏾 what's the best/song
