Four Amazing Alternatives to the Fujifilm X100VI / X100V
Просмотров 396 тыс.2 года назад
Fujifilm X100V: amzn.to/3Vuffl2 A brief list of excellent alternatives to the Fujifilm X100V & X100VI. Although this video was originally made for the X100V, I felt that the X100VI was similar enough to warrant identical treatment with respect to this video. The differences are minor between the models as they operate in essentially the same fashion and fill the same role in your overall photog...
Sony a1 SMALL RAW files - Finally!
Просмотров 6 тыс.2 года назад
Sony finally released smaller raw file options for the Alpha 1, making it very convenient for event shooters and social media projects. The camera now allows for 12 and 21 megapixel captures in addition to the typical 50 megapixel images. This option requires Sony A1 Firmware v1.30 and above. Firmware updates are available on Sony's website linked here: www.sony.com/electronics/support/e-mount-...

Ricoh gr3 is the BEST camera you can buy for picture quality. But too many forget about the Fuji Xf10 that was sold up to 2021
Hi, I'm a cyclist and I'm in search of a portable, durable and lightweight camera to document my cycling trips. I am interested in taking photos of bikes, landscape, people, fast-moving objects (both on and off the bike). Which of these cameras would you recommend I buy? It should definitely be cheaper than the X100VI. Thanks
I can confirm that the Ricoh GRIII is probably the only option listed here that can comfortably fit in your jersey pocket or in a small handlebar bag. Another option that is smaller would be the Sony RX100VII - in fact, I'd probably recommend this for cycling photos as it has a superzoom built in with Sony's pro-level autofocus and still has a solid 1" sensor.
Hello, First of all really nice video. But i need to ask you something i consider buying the sony rx 100v|| or the ricoh grill. Picture quality is the main Point why i think of buying the ricoh because many people are saying that the ricoh has a nicer look, especially like a „film look" but i also want to shoot videos and the flexibilty of the sony and the view finder so what do you think about the image quality? And do you think the sony can be as good as the ricoh? Thanks for your help:))
I tried both of them - they're both compacts, but the Sony has a smaller sensor paired with a zoom with their superior autofocus tech. The GR has a bigger sensor, but is a fixed wide lens. Neither of these are the best pick for video compared to other options, but Sony would have the edge. The GR would be better for documentary use for everyday life, and the Sony would be more suited to a variety of subjects due to the zoom lens, just with a bit worse image quality.
New sub here whats your thoughts on sony a7r5?fantastic video 😊
Welcome! It's a great camera that's a generation newer with their latest AF tech (slightly better than the a1, but the a1 is already flagship level, so that doesn't matter much to me) - great value if you're ok with the slow sensor readout or primarily shoot landscapes, scenery, or studio flash photography. I haven't specifically tested this on the a7r5, but all Sony cameras prior have had bad darkening issues when shooting at high shutter speeds (1/1000+) with the mechanical shutter, so that's partly why I went with the a1.
Well done. Thanks Stanley!
The Sony A1 successor is already here, and it's called the Sony 9III. The only thing it lacks is 25 more megapixels, and that really isn't a minus.
Opinion....
@@xxxxz4862 like everyone else.....
I was hoping Sony would come out with a proper successor to the a1, but I guess they couldn't reconcile high resolution plus global sensor tech in a small body quite yet. The a9iii is definitely a game-changing successor to the a9m2 though. Soon, hopefully!
If they would have done it 50mp + base iso of 250 everyone would have screamed too
Nah. Less dynamic range and way less megapixels. It’s a different type of camera.
Great Video - You didnt hound for likes or subscribe but I gave both because it was great content and wonderfully delivered. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great summary Stanley, I got my 3x in the UK recently and can honestly say I rarely leave home without it! The size and weight (in the included case on belt loop old guy ‘phone style) make it the perfect EDC, even when going out with no intention of taking photos. Also the filmic recipes are tons of fun to experiment with, I’m really glad I jumped in and joined the Ricoh tribe :-)
A1 is a great camera, but I think that Nikon Z8 or Canon R5 II are better value for the money. I hope that new Sony A7 V will have stacked sensor, at least 20fps and perhaps 42mpx to support 8k…
Unfortunately, Sony doesn't have any other stacked sensor stills camera at a lower price point, so this is still the best value in the Sony ecosystem. Agreed with you that they can do better though, the a1 is due for an update. I doubt they'll have both a stacked sensor and high resolution on the new A7 model - that seems to overlap too heavily with their high end bodies. I do hope that they have a lower priced stacked sensor camera though - it only makes sense, given the competitive options the other brands provide.
Both have less dynamic range and I personally think the A1 has better autofocus
Is the only one with Exmor RS vs Exmor R sensor
Such good photos - love the look at 8:40 :) Did you edit the pictures afterwards or are they straight out of camera? Would love to hear which preset you use. Thanks for the video!
Thanks! These are edited from raw files in Lightroom.
Thank you for your excellent, unbiased opinion. I subscribed to your channel because of it.
Happy to help!
This deserve more views !!
Sort the dust problem,be more realistic with the price! Sell a lot more, simple really!
G1x has even bigger sensor and is also compact. You should try it
The G1x has an APS-C sensor. Same as the Ricoh GR III. It is also larger.
6k plus great value ? wow i would say sony A7IV
Getting it used is a great value
Exactly right. I wouldn't recommend anyone pay $6500 for an A1 at this point in time, especially since the A1ii just came out. But now that the A1ii is out, it's a pretty good time to get an A1, especially since not much has changed with the new model.
Quelqu'un peut me dire quel est le nom ou un liens pour la pochette qu'on vois a 1'06 ? Merci ;) whats the nam or link to the small bag see at 1’06 ? Thank’s
Amazing images.
Thank you!
Shooting the A1 for a year - mostly for video - and it always overheats in a climate controlled studio… my two FX3 have no such problem. Still use tye A1 as my 3rd “context” and I shut it down when not needed. Use it more for stills. (I too came from Nikon but their video was never supported by Apple FCPX since I wasted $$$ on their “filmmakers Kit! 🤬”)
I believe that - it’s a really small body so I’d imagine video would result in quite a bit of heat. I use it for stills only, so I haven’t personally had any overheating issues regardless of how fast I burst.
great job man!
Thank you!
Love Manhattan Beach!
Definitely one of my favorite spots
was able to get one used a little less than 5k and was on the fence on returning it. this eased my concerns lol thank you for being objective
Happy to help! It’s still an expensive camera, but in terms of value that it offers, it’s very hard to beat. Super reliable too! Happy shooting 📷
Great informative video!!
Sold my X100V for a Sony RX1R II and don't regret it at all!
Great video. TY!
You’re welcome!
Just got mine 2 days ago. Still trying to figure out how to use it.
My favorite settings are setting it to A mode and auto ISO, with center AF. That typically brings a solid user friendly result.
Well said!
One other great use for the GR- particularly the x model: close ups of flowers and other small objects. The close up mode gives excellent image quality and the spot focus mode works well. I’ve also found it great to take when hiking if I want to keep the weight down
That's a good point too, great to have a macro camera in your pocket.
That was nice Stanley. However please please please it is NOT the 'Vee'!! It is the 5. We don't call the IV a One Vee or the VI a Vee One!
This cracked me up. Noted lol
I'd like to add another one to the list Pixii Half the cost of a Leica, while being rated better than every Leica other than the M11 but DXO.
I was tempted too, but I ended up going for the XPro3 instead. Works exceptionally well with M-mount lenses. Lacks a mechanical rangefinder, but the digital rangefinder is wonderful. Part of why I didn't want to go with a Pixii is that it's a crop sensor camera - if I was going to pay that much, I'd prefer full frame. Hoping to try it some day though as it's a really interesting camera!
Thanks for the vid and detailed info. I'm so close to purchasing...
Do it 👌
The GV-2 external viewfinder is like $250, more than a quarter of the cost of the camera lol. Also, many RUclipsrs laud the build-in memory "in case you forget your SD card." I have never forgotten a memory card in my entire life, and no photographer I know has. Otherwise, this is the BEST point-and-shoot camera for the APS-C sensor alone.
I’m pretty sure only RUclipsrs forget their memory cards 😂 Viewfinders aren’t cheap because they still require solid build quality and good glass to make. They will also outlast your camera by decades. I bought a GV1 ($150) to pair with an M3 rangefinder, which only had 50mm frame lines. Works like a charm for 21/28mm. Similarly works incredibly well when I got this GR3. Even better because you can turn off the screen and use it as an optical point and shoot device. Truly changes the experience of the GR3 in a fun way.
When I sell my lung, I'll get a leica
It’ll be a breathtaking experience, I’m sure 👍
the only thing better ....is a GRiiix
Great video, concise, precise and informative. Thank you
Thank you for your feedback! Glad you enjoyed the video 🙂
Fantastic food for thought. I have a Sony system (a7r4) and two Fuji systems (X-H1 & X-Pro2). Last night I listed all of the Fuji kit so that I can buy one do-it-all EDC hobbyist camera. I have longed for a Leica Q2 for many years, and I'm also on several pre-order lists for the X100vi. Yet, what you have said about the GRiii - a camera that has always peaked my interest - just makes a lot of sense. And besides, if I buy a used GRiii, use it for a few months and hate it, I can always sell it again with hopefully very little extra depreciation. Great informative video.
Happy to have helped! It’s a pretty unique camera that just so happens to fit perfectly into any kit and complements bigger gear very nicely. I also pre ordered the fujifilm but I don’t see myself ever selling this thing. The x100vi still can’t compete on size and pocketability. No one questions you when you’re out shooting with this, but they definitely will when you have a Fujifilm or Leica (is that a film camera???).
@@legendofthecamera the Leica Q2 is a digital camera.
So the VI has a much higher spec. Since I got one for the RRP I think it will last a while. 40MP and IBIS are major improvements.
Yeah, while it's an iterative improvement (nothing groundbreaking or unique, only bringing it in line with the XT5), it's still a pretty major as an upgrade and will no doubt add tremendously to the usability and fun of this camera. Enjoy!
most human are terrible when it comes to delayed satisfaction. i want it now and will pay full retail plus a premium. ridiculous.
i think Fuji reds look a little pink..
The image quality of this lens can rival even the Sony gm. If only they added weather sealing, this camera would be Gold.
Yep, much room for improvement indeed.
the dust and weather sealing should be an automatic repair on Pnetax/ Richo. Its a failure on them for not protecting their products
It not being weather sealed for 1000$ in such a compact body is just beyond crazy to me. There are so many good cameras that u can get for 1k$ that are compact and will be better than ricoh. Hope the IV is weather sealed and has better AF, then the price would be justified.
Yep, personally hoping for better build quality for future iterations too
Examples of cheaper compact better than Ricoh gr 3?
@@domacherthere arent, but there was Fuji Xf10
Stanley, you should be in the Radio DIsc Jockey business- what a lovely ,matured pleasing voice...Thanks for the video
Thank you sir!
After 2 days from new (£999), dust appeared on the sensor despite keeping it in a Ricoh soft case plus third party lens cap, and never putting it in my pocket. Now the best offer I can get is £625, subject to sending it back under warranty in the hope that they will sort it. And it never felt like I was using a proper camera, although the images were great, subject to a big blob, which I now feel sure was present from new. Would NEVER buy another!
It’s only The best if you love sensor dust and a broken rear wheel
Thanks for Your review - it is very helpfull. But star of the show is the beautifull Akita (or Shiba?). Love that dogs!🙂
Shiba thanks you for the compliment 😂
Why can’t i find a comparison video for the x100v with gfx 50s? The 50s is medium format and costs only 2000. Can someone explain please?
It's the opposite of compact and I don't think it's commonly compared. But the user experience of the GFX50s is honestly pretty poor in my opinion. It's a first generation MF product and feels really slow and clunky to use for anything other than static scenes in good light, whereas the X100V is pretty much the opposite in its usage, plus it's almost pocketable too. I'd imagine given $2000 to spend, one would absolutely lean one way or another rather than be on the fence for these two.
Your crisp delivery and concise analysis makes this review much more helpful than many others I've watched. Many thanks for moving me closer to pulling the trigger on purchasing.
Thank you for your feedback, I'm glad I was able to help!
