Mallory was such a good person. These murdaughs are so disliked by so many people. There’s so many rumors here about what happened with Mallory, with the family deaths and with Stephen. And when I say so many, it’s like people constantly have an experience with one of them and they say they know this and that but all these deaths are still unresolved. It’s sick. This makes me so emotional because Mallory was an amazing person and she’s changing the whole state and she’s not even here anymore.

Stories of parents constantly getting kids out of trouble drive me crazy. My dad is a district attorney. When we were growing up he NEVER got us off the hook. We never got in that much trouble, but I did lose my license when I was 16 for a speeding ticket. Looking into it later, my dad easily could have represented me or talked to people so I did not lose my license. But he didn't because he wanted me to learn my lesson. And I am so thankful my dad was like this. Letting kids live consequence free is not love. It does not do anyone favors. Also, district attorneys don't make THAT much money. They can live comfortably but certainly not 3+ houses comfortably. So if it is a family of district attorneys, where did all of their money come from??

She had been a model mother and when we went to court it was immediately apparent we had no chance to get full custody. He had even abused a neighbor boy and his mother testified and it did no good. He and his family were well connected and friends of the judge. They joked and laughed together while on the stand and tore into us. I was 23 by then and one of his family friends who I had only seen once but never spoken to when I was 15 testified negatively about me solely for the way I dressed (we live in a small southern town and I had dyed black hair and wore black clothes). I’ve seen this happen too many times. The good ole boys club is alive and well.

A rare Blue paint was found at the scene and was matched to a dune buggy the Murdough’s own. Strangely Alex, Paul’s father, suspiciousLy and quickly showed up at the scene of Stevens death! Paul is also rumored to have pushed their maid down the stairs resulting in her death. Also….. when Alex went to court just a few days after his suicide attempt, there were NO visible wounds AT ALL to his head….

My partner's mom's family lived in Hampton for decades; his aunt still does. They all have Murdaugh stories, most of which are how obnoxious Alex was in high school. But his grandmother's story spoke volumes to me, she got in a heated parking lot confrontation when Alex parked in a handicap spot illegally.
They think that he killed Paul, and then his wife stumbled on the scene early. They also do believe he had something to do with Gloria the maid's mysterious passing. What shocked me is that they also are steadfast in their beliefs that Buster had something to do with Steven Smith's death. Local gossip like this isn't always right, but then again it often is.

I think the public scrutiny was too much. If both his wife and son were killed then Mallory's case would be ignored and people would gain sympathy for him and turn a blind eye to all the things he was doing.
