As a cosplayer myself, I wanna say that this community can attract some people with a tendency to get obsessed with others involved, whether that be jealousy or a romantic/sexual type of obsession that could both lead to stalking. The fact that the killer seemed to be in cosplay makes me think it was someone who fixated on Liz and had a one sided obsession with her and wanted her dead.

Oh yeah, I was super into fandoms when I was a teenager. There are some people who make it their entire lives, with no other interests, hobbies, friends, anything outside of their chosen fandom and the obsessiveness can be truly terrifying. There's a YA novel that I quite like which explores this, called I was born for this by Alice Oseman, the same person who wrote Heartstopper (that new Netflix show)

My theory too. I think it was jealousy. She had a lot going for her. Not saying she didn't earn it all, but that just makes her all the more respected and impressive, and she seemed very modest. Very easy to hate someone like that when your life is going down the pan! jealousy is extremely powerful.

made me wonder if its someone maybe Sergio possibly knew? Like maybe knew bc of cosplay but was an acquaintance. Like she liked him but he she was never on his radar type thing. I rly feel like it’s a female that killed her otherwise I’d think a man that was obsessed with Liz had killed her.

This is what I hear. At 21:14, Liz says “Christian, is that you?”. At 21:20, the other person who sounds male says “..December..”. At 21:30, Liz says something like “…in your show…in your journey”. I don’t know if what I hear is right but it sounds to me that she says the name Christian or a name very close to that.

What really breaks my heart is that the shooter shoots her 3 times and then stands over her and shoots her again while she’s down. That is 10000000% a personal murder. Whether or not Liz knew her attacker, I have a feeling they knew her. Professional hits don’t need 4 shots. It could be someone who wasn’t a professional but still hired to do it - but it’s way too sloppy to be a professional hit. They need FBI profilers on this one. I have a feeling studying her community would bring out the culprit real fast.

    • @asemi4

That's what I thought too when I first heard of this case. Maybe there was no actual affair but a coworker of hers got obsessed with her and their jealous spouse decided to take their revenge, or a maybe Sergio had a jealous ex who was mad he chose Liz over her, or Liz rejected someone and they got upset in an "if I can't have you" sort of way. There are scenarios where an actual affair wasn't occurring but others may still have been upset.

@@Kdkdleeme that effectively takes out all the people she advertised to the following night. For a planned, deliberate murder it reduces the suspect pool to people she knew well enough that they knew where she lived.
I have no idea about the cosplay world but I'm betting like every other activity out there that if you meet a thousand people, you'll still only become close friends with a handful.
This eliminates half her church members as well, again one develops close friendships with only a few.
That leaves coworkers, close friends, family and spouse.
In that barrel we can kick the coworkers because if they hired a hit man, the hit man would expect her to go to work Friday morning. I dont see a hit an casing a house twice if he knew her schedule.
Friends, family spouse knew she would not work on the Friday. So who is a friend, who is in her church and does cosplay and was online Thursday night to give the hit man a heads up?
Sorry, this is my opinion only and I have nothing to substantiate this theory except that to sieve your suspect pool, you look at possibilities and work them down to probabilities. Sorry about putting it here, I know you were replying to the other reply.

and everyone using a stalker theory, there's a FLAW. Stalkers will usually approach their victim to FIRST get them BEFORE they attack or kill. Because they want to be with them and have them. So someone would have known if some guy was obsessed with her. Most likely her best friend, her husband. So why isn't ANYONE suspected? I find that hard to believe. If she had a stalker, he most likely already showed signs or approached her. No way someone would stay hidden in the shadow to just kill her and take her out unless they are a trained serial killer. Even STALKERS have an obsession with their victim and would prefer to first try to be with them before taking them out and risking prison time.

That doesn't include any of the many times someone's tried to take inappropriate pics...Its honestly why I feel confident its someone that met her at a con and was stalking her. Seeing her happy with her husband was too much for them.

I'm with the Dad. This was planned, she was targeted and the intention was to kill. The final shot, standing over her and it's location, tells you that. Maybe it was someone in the cosplay community that was obsessed with Sergio or maybe there was some sort of jealousy, or perceived "affair" or something. You'd be surprised what people will do just on a suspicion of their SO cheating, or even just giving someone "extra" attention (in their mind). The "good morning" doesn't suggest to me that she didn't know them... if it was someone she knew from the cosplay community, but didn't necessarily speak to a lot, or didn't know personally, she could've greeted them with the same phrase. Like it does sound like something you'd say to a potential yard sale customer, but I wouldn't let that one phrase rule out people she knew. This case is heartbreaking and baffling. And just because a marriage seems good, doesn't mean it is... who's to say one of them didn't have a burner phone from straight talk or something that they used to only communicate with their "fling" that nobody knew about? Like in a case like this, where there's seemingly no motive, NOTHING can be ruled out as a possibility, because there IS a reason, trust me. You don't just walk up to someone and kill them for no reason. There's SOMETHING, some little tiny detail that they're missing, I'm telling you. God, I pray that you shine your light onto the evil person hiding in the dark, that took poor Liz's life, so they can be arrested and brought to justice. I pray this in Jesus' name, so it is. Amen.

Saying good morning to someone visibly in a costume makes me also think… If it was a stranger I can imagine she would mention that in the initial greeting or shortly after. Maybe by saying something like “wow! nice costume.” However if it was someone she knew who cosplayed and expected them to dress as such I can imagine she wouldn’t be as surprised.

Maybe the husband had a stalker, someone within their star wars community that they didn’t necessarily know first hand but fixated on him and their relationship. It seems that some stalkers can actually delude themselves into thinking a relationship exists. So if this person approached Liz and said something like “we are in love” or “he wants to be with me” or any other lines people in that situation would use, that would account for her “it’s not true” statement? It would also explain why a woman in costume would be the shooter. I know they said Sergio didn’t meet his wife until 2021, but maybe she knew who he was already? Is there a way to go back and see who was viewing his social media pages on a regular basis?

Not trying to demonize but being someone a part of it and knowing how mean and clique it can be, It wouldn't be crazy to believe that she was targeted for just being the good person she is. If they never met her it could be someone that has seen her. I feel the person it could be could be tied to the fan community because of her heavy involvement. The way they smoothly walked up is indication they knew her and whos house they were walking up to and they came as soon as Sergio left so they watched them for a while to know the schedule. This was not the work of a professional. No silencer, 4 shots, intentionally striking fear into her before. Besides knowing exactly where the neighborhood cameras were, it was messy. Hearing the audio my first thought was that a man absolutely killed her, but then I realized that if they ran in cosplay circles, it’s very common for them to use voice modulators (for darth Vader for example). I think it was a woman with a voice modulator of some sort, definitely a crime of passion. She was either a stalker who was envious of her position in the organizations they shared, or she was sleeping with her husband. The timing of the murder and the rate at which he remarried is concerning to me. Statistically, the murder of most women is at the hands of their significant other. The timing of the murder, 5 minutes after he left for work with his poor wife setting up outside all alone in the dark just doesn’t feel right to me. Burner phones exist, and they’re very easy to obtain tracelessly and get rid of. My heart breaks for Liz, she deserved so much better.

The tone of Liz’s “good morning” PAIRED with her step back is a little concerning. So I took the audio from the surveillance camera and tried to reduce the noise as best as I could. I am no professional by all means, but I could hear the following things.
The world "kill" is used several times by the attcker during thw whole conersation. Which I found so odd, at how often they used it.
Liz is saying "It's two before seven" or "It's ten before seven." I assume the attacker asked what time it is. Seems like a really odd move to me, but maybe the murderer tried to get closer to her by that.
They could be saying either: "I am going to kill you.", "I am here to kill you." or "I am hired to kill you."
After that you can hear Liz say "Please don't it's not" and it is interrupted by the wind. I believe she says "It's not worth it."
Then the attackers delivery of words get kind of strange. I can't really decipher what they are actually saying. But they get louder and their voice sounds almost dramtic, as if they were in some kind of actor.
The murderer could be saying "Sir" or "Sure" and then I deciphered a "You're an" and it get's interrupted again. The last word could maybe be "airtroop" or something.
After that I strongly believe the attacker said "I hate you."
And then the murderer get's again this weird type of delivery lines. But because it is so windy, you can't make out what they are actually saying. It almost sounds like they are following orders or mimicking a robot of some sorts. I think they are saying one word at a time.
Before the shots go off the murderer says "I'll kill you." again.
What I find especially interesting, is the fact that Liz voice sounds very faint and "normal" even when it is slightly distorted by the other sounds while the voice of the murderer is very "loud" or let's say dominant. It also sounds extremly distorted, like not human at all. It sounds like they were using a voice changer, almost like Darh Vaders voice.
I am also confused that there seems to be no information out there at how Liz described the attacker. I am guessing she was so badly injured that she couldn't speak anymore, but if she wasn't she might have been able to give some clues maybe.

I didn’t hear anything in the recording but if you’ve heard “it’s not true” maybe it was his new wife, its speculated there was an affair so maybe she rocked up and told her about the affair and Liz was saying “it’s not true” about that maybe? also i believe the husband might have been in on it, because how would they would know he was gone if he hadn’t told someone that they’re good to go…
im pretty sure she posted an ad on facebook about the garage sale but maybe the husband gave the address to the new wife and she cased the house first to get a feel then rocked up once given the heads up he was gone in the morning,
and i agree, Liz didn’t know the person but the person definitely knew Liz, maybe they knew her as their lovers wife…

My husband and I went to her vigil and it was truly one of the most devastating yet beautiful tributes we’ve ever been to. She was such a light and a sweet, kind person. I’ll remember her smile the most. I can’t believe we are here in 2024 and still no answers or justice. I can’t believe more people haven’t covered this case since it happened. A few thoughts. If the shooter was tied to the Cosplay community, I would think they wouldn't wear one of their costumes because that would link them back to the Cosplay community. My thought is that it is someone who knows Elizabeth is very connected with Cosplay and dressed up as one of them to keep their identity even further away from who they really are.

I'll keep my personal suspicions about hubby to myself until when and if evidence says otherwise. It seems more than coincidental the killer scoped out the house the night before a last minute garage sale and struck literally moments after hubby left the scene. From all I've read, Liz always planned and advertised her garage sales, so I find it odd that this one was last minute with very little public notice as If someone convinced her to have it guaranteeing she wouldn't be inside a locked house but rather out in the open vulnerable and alone. She was setup by someone close to her. Why???

IF Sergio was involved, he could have been using a burner phone and used that phone to send an "okay go" text once he had left and knew she was outside, alone, and distracted. Plus, every time u wanna call or text them u can’t be around your SO cuz they’ll see the phone lol. I’d start investigating the women at his work, as I feel that the only way to easily hide an affair would be someone u work with since ur around them a lot during the day and can take all ur breaks and lunches together. You don’t even really need a burner phone if it’s a coworker, u can literally hold countless hours of private unrecorded/undocumented conversations with no trace.

As other comments mentioned, why wasn't there more effort into looking into every owner of that truck model in the area? They've done it countless times, so why not with this case?
Another thing is the odd timing of the incident. 3 minutes after the husband leaves after a last minute decision to have a yard sale... it is obvious that the person was watching the house, but the timing and knowing that she would be home is too convenient to be coincidental. I'm sorry to say, but if this happened to my spouse, I feel like it would destroy me, and all the photos of her husband, he seems upset, but not crying or devastated as a person would be who lost their partner in such a horrific way. It also bothers me that he remarried very quickly. I know everyone heals differently, but a year or less to be remarried is kind of a red flag.

Me too. How did no ones camera pic up the license plate on the truck circling the house? Can’t believe this hasn’t been solved. That audio is so chilling.

My stomach dropped and heart stopped and had the most scarily eerie feeling when I heard the audio. It sounded like an evil voice speaking to her. I seriously feel nauseous after hearing it. I can’t wait for them to figure out who did this to such a sweet soul.

@@brantlie_boone right?! It sounded demonic... it may have been feedback in the microphone, but I couldn't even listen to it.... I wasn't expecting this case to make me feel so uncomfortable, but, ohhh boy... it did lol

@@El_Roi18 true, or the person could’ve been using a voice changer type thing. But yeah, it sounded so scary. Like I feel so paranoid? or something. Out of the many many crime podcasts/videos I’ve watched, I’ve never felt this disturbed from them.

Is it true that her husband got remarried 6 months after the murder?? And that he was online asking for female workout partners only 2 days after his wife was murdered?
