It's disgusting how people just bin things for the slightest problem there again manufacturers should share the blame. I've got a flymo QS5160 bought new in 2007 it's worked well until this year and turns out one of the rear drive wheels has stripped its teeth and I'm struggling to find a new replacement, I keep getting told "it's an old machine what do you expect"
Christ it's only 13 years old and it runs and cuts perfect I'm really don't want to scrap it but finding a rear wheel is difficult all the dealers want to do is sell me a £450 mower, thieves the lot of them.

Have you any any videos near complete overhauls on say maybe 6 to 10 year old Briggs n Stratton and /or Honda 5.5Lawnmowers

Those two Flymos are very nice, especially the engines. And I wouldn´t consider 1989 as "very old"

On the hover one: I've had a few mowers in where the owners are getting older and just don't have the 'oomph' to yank the cord and so end up getting rid for cordless electric models instead.

Awesome upload love the intro. I must say though, only really 2 things I hate in this world them being prawn heads and stupid Flymo hover mowers........too much white mans magic for me Mick lol. Just jokes, just jokes.....Hover mowers as useful as hessian underpants.

Hi Mick, can I use 6 month old petrol stored in a sealed jerry can or should I buy fresh? And can I leave petrol in my lawn mower over the winter or should I drain it out? Thanks
I would say use fresh unless you have put some stability additive in it.. I always drain the fuel out of my mowers

The finest stick edger I have ever used I found in the trash. It is an Echo PE 2400. I have flipped 100s of machines, but I kept this one.
It amazes me what people take to the dump..

It’s turned into a throwaway society. Great job saving/getting those machines from certain scrapping. Bet you get them all fixed and sold for a tidy sum. 👍 Years ago they would have been sent to a repairer. Nowadays they are relatively cheap and people just buy a new one. Sad really for the planet but great for people like you Mick.

Just had a rant about that just now before I saw your post, but your spot on. No body repairs thing now just buy new.
I've worked in the nuclear industry for more years than I like to remember. In the old days if something went wrong a fitter would come strip the part down go off to the machine shop make a new part and have everything up and running in a few hours.
Now the new generation come in, kick it and say "that whole unit needs replacing"
Machines down for months and the cost runs into tens of thousands because we've destroyed our engineering background.

Jason.. the fella who sells them has the contract to remove them from the tip.. he then sells them on eBay.. I appreciate your positive comment really I do.. however any comments like you have just left will result in me blocking you.. I have been to see your lovely channel and I can see you have wow 0 Subscribers and no video content.. and there's you bashing me about my little channel with over 8000 subscriber's and over 550 video uploads.. so in short if your have nothing positive to say best not to say anything.. me old cupcake..

One of my customers gave a mower and said that the handle had stuck down in the folded position, possibly engine "blocked". I took it home, held in the dead mans handle and pulled up the handle. First pull and it starts. I did the right thing and took it back. 😇

Karma Karma Karma. I always do what’s right, even if it costs me money. I believe in Karma, what goes around comes around. I’ve even had customers tip me when I told them I had to buy a tool to complete their job but didn’t charge for it. It’s just good business!

just to say , the flymo hover mower , not all of them have an adjustable throttle , some have the throttle lever which is just to put choke on , which i think that model is ,

Thats a nice looking little Viking mower , and also that Flymo was quite good sounding for its age. With your resolve you will probably get them all going no problem 👍 Tam.

I have never seen a mower that floats like that one does. Very cool. On that mower that you said it may have a timing issue-- if that is the case try to start it later in the day. Maybe it only runs between 3 and 5 or something like that. You can thank me later for all my fantastic idea's. Looking forward to watching you fix them up. Thanks for the video.

ugh... I HATE tecumseh engines.
@@norge696 Yeah, I found out that a lot of people do, I just don´t know why, they are my favourite brand, seriously. I used to hate the small Briggs with the plastic carbs and the Primer (like the one on the Mountfield), now that has switched to any non-brand chinese ohv-clone engine.
@@v-g-z3689 are for tehcumseh, breather tubes leak, oil seals, valves are wacky, backfire a lot, carbs leak, flywheel keys are annoying, like 7 different kinds, list goes on and on. I do however like tecumseh snow king engines.
As for those plastic briggs carbs, easiest carbs to clean in the world.
@@norge696 Yeah, that is the general opinion, especially in the US by the way. I can´t confirm any of those accusations, but that however is just me. For me, the plastic pulsa Prime carbs are awful, and the engines they are mounted on: diaphragm goes bad every two years, carb warps and doesn`t seal, no adjustment whatsoever, awful airflow qualities, the engines have very little torque, they start burning oil quickly, Gas caps lose their threads after a short time, the head gaskets tend to leaks, Intake tube breaks very quickly, doesn´t seal properly to the carb, engines tend to wear out very quickly... thats my version of the list ;)
@@v-g-z3689 ohh yeah... not a fan of pulsa jet engines either. briggs stopped making flat heads in 2012ish.
list of jobs to do
- flymo 1, needs service, new cables, fix drive.
- mountfield grey mower, sounds like a engine issue
- mountfield trimmer usual two stroke issues with fuel lines and carb, may require a service.
- viking carb, service and drive
- suffolk punch service, clean carb, fix drive, get new grass box frame
- mountfield sp414 carb clean, service
- Flymo hover mower hell of a suprise it runs lovely, probably requires a quick service
