The Ransomes Marquis/Auto Certes were the first cylinder mowers I ever used back in the early 70s. BSA engines were absolutely bullet proof if maintained properly. Lovely to hear that engine tick over again😊. Thanks Mick, Riley Boy and Pip. 🙏👍
I'm definitely with you Mick vintage mowers all day especially the little atco it has got character and the sound is awesome 👍👍👍👍
Good one Mick, you have to like Riley boys "T" shirt. Unfortunately we don't have cylinder mowers in the colonies.
That marquis is the finest of that lineup
The ransom in the Villiers because I love vintage and I love using vintage equipment
Im a collector of atco's you cant beat vintage mowers . They sound amazing. Atco all the way 😂
Nice mowers mate
I prefer the older ones. No nanny state presence levers, manual let it out clutches. If you trip over after getting it going, it goes through your fence and the neighbours too!
I've just got a 1940s Oxford allen shearer with a Villiers 2stroke engine in beautiful condition big old bit of kit
I like the ATCO because it has a wider cut and runs on gas.
Ranson Marquis all the way, can’t have a Japanese engine and plastic collection box on a cylinder mower, would need a back up so will go with the cobra electric as I know I can start it and it has the additional tools. Just got a Cobra Petrol rotary motor, love that! Lawn in a state so no cylinder this year.
I’d have the small atco.
Now you are Talking, Cylinder mowers and a Ransomes Marquis Peaches and cream!!!
The Marquis gets my vote every time, its nice and heavy, just what you want to lay a nice defined stripe, that F12 has plenty of torque backed up by a heavy flywheel so she'll cut and drive just fine on low rpm which saves on fuel, plus that huge grass box is great.
After 4 years I'm suprised that Ewarts fuel top didn't just pizz everywhere as the cork inside shrinks then swells after soaking in fuel overnight.
Does the new battery powered jobbie have any control over cylinder speed or is it just the drive speed you can adjust? I'd like to have seen it with a slower ground speed and a high cutting speed for a finer cut and clearing the grass clippings right to the back of the box, one drawback of the vintage machines is with a low rpm the clippings sometimes build up at the front of the box which you've then got to push forward, saying that a skilled operator can raise the rpm and feather the drive clutch 😉
Did you unjam the rollers seizure Mick?
@@seeul8rwaynekerr yeah mate
Vintage all day long
That is just cream.
Old school reel mower s cool beans 🫘 there Mick the reel mower man
Atco Balmoral 20SK. The Kawasaki engine combined with the ability to swap in other cassettes. Micro height adjustment and comfortable handle. A true Rolls Royce of mowers
I'd have the atco but the bsa sloper is beautiful
I can smell the fresh cut grass from here. I prefer the more modern four stroke gas engine mowers lacking points and condenser. Kawasaki fits that itch for me.
I am with you all the way Mick, Cant beat the old ones
THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO HI GUYS
Just happened to come across your channel as I’ve a bit of a thing for ransomes. First machine I ever repaired was a ransomes multi mower with a seized engine with MAG engine. Then followed by an Auto-certes and marquis 51. Still used a mastiff at work! Nothing runs, cuts or is as reliable as an old ransomes.
@@casto- ta for watching.. means a lot .. I have lots of videos on vintage mowers ..
@@themowerman I’ll definitely have to watch the marquis series… the auto-certes was left on a bag of lime which destroyed the roller. I found another (not sure it’s the right one either) and can’t remember how it goes back together! I took it apart as a youngster… 20yrs later I can’t remember 🤣🤦♂️
@@casto- lol good luck
