Cool story brooooooo
Shut up.
Great vid as usual! Love the direction that you're taking the Mk1 in - Stunning car!
Thanks James! I already have another video ready to go on the Mk1 for 2 weeks time
Great find with those number plates👍
Thanks mate!
Nice one, that reg is definitely a keeper👍
100% all 3 are for me now mate
Seeing vids like this really prods me to get mine finished and put back on the road...😊
Get it done mate! Be worth it!
Nice plate mate. I have often thought about getting one but did not know how it worked. Keep up the good work sir
Yeah double check the years otherwise you could get caught out 🤣
Hi mate. Recently became a classic mini owner and am enjoying your videos. Interestingly my wife was a Toone with an ‘e’. Anyway, got a plate on retention. Just put it on my Cooper and was wondering who you use to make your plates?
Big fan of a nice registration plate myself. Have a couple on retention certs too. Just changed the daily so one will be going on it and the other into my wife’s MINI.
They finish a car off for me
@@classicminidetails8887 totally agree. Car doesn’t feel mine until I have my number on it
Nippy Cars do a speedo pod conversion which inculdes a rev counter and it looks period.
Hi Alex, for cavity wax I would recommend Dynax S50 over Waxoxyl. It's made by Bilt Hamber and far superior. It's more like Ziebart treatment.
Thanks mate! I have some on order
I have to say I'm always impressed with the HD picture quality you achieve, you have excellent lighting which HD requires, colours show up well, your garage looks like its been especially built as a studio set, i can see and read lots of detail, particularly on a 4K Smart television, your new heater from Machine Mart looks the business, good heat output I see, nothing more miserable than working in a garage or shed during our damp and cold winter.
John thats great to hear. I film in 1080p as 2.7k and 4k takes so long to load up on my laptop. I must see if i can get around this somehow as shooting in 4k would certainly make a huge difference
@@classicminidetails8887 1080p is still an excellent picture.
Excellent! I know the picture inside my garage is never as good as natural daylight. Role on Summer!
Love the Mk 1 and what you’re doing with it, great car! One question, is the coil in its original position? If it’s in a better position where it is (cause they always get wet) fair enough. Looking forward to the next video! Thanks.
Hi Simon, yes its in the original location mate they moved over onto the other side when they changed over to alternators
Nice plate alex, I have two private plates, one on my work van is literally my initial and surname.....
I'm a big fan of the existing wheels, I have them on my mk2....
Fitting door cards on mk1s and 11s is an arse, you'll need to remove the outer handle to remove the inner one, to get the card in, and please explain to us when you do, how the two closure pieces fit each end....
I certainly will mate. Those door cards are an absolute nightmare.
I agree with keeping the rev counter, it may not be original but it is period correct. Most cooper's of that age had a rev counter installed as the race/rally cars did, and owners liked the idea for their cars.
Thanks mate, every cooper S i have seen has got one!
Alex, Love the Buttery shots on your intro‘s where did you get your insperation from ?. Private plates in Austria are 90 euro are they a bit
more expensive in the UK. Cheers Dave
90 euro! God i wish they cost that over here! Hope your well mate
Don't worry about what people say ...you have it how you
want it...I don't know of any mini (Cooper or S) that was standard within 3 weeks of ownership
Would love to see the car at a show (in the North West, I live near Holmes Chapel) would love to talk to you about Cooper S's stay safe
Thanks Tony. Yes would love to meet up with you in the summer!
Hi Alex, - good to see you buddy, love the shape of the bucket seats in the S, I know you’re trying to keep the standard appearance as much as possible but will you perhaps be fitting a period style wood rim steering wheel? Lastly, regarding the Rev counter, I thought the S did have one as standard but am I wrong? (Maybe the later models?) keep well stay safe 😊🇬🇧
Hi Phil, i took a les leston wheel out of it as i preferred the black wheel against the red seats. I will do some more digging on the rev counter mate! Every S i see has them?
Nice vid Alex, might be worth getting some waxoil under the channel on the sliding windows, after all the water drains though into a vunerable area inside the door before draining away through the metal pipes? Means windows and channel out but worth it?
Definitely Dean! I had that done on my van
New subscriber (in Sydney but originally from Manchester)! I had a couple of mini's back in Manchester, a 79 1.0 Auto that I converted to manual because it shunted when the auto box changed gear, and a 1982 HLE I remember fondly. Just curious how you keep your garage so clean and tidy. Certainly looks comfy to work in! Cheers Steve
Welcome Steve! Hope you enjoy the videos mate. Your better off over there than here at the minute let me tell you!
the car is absolutely boss looks great
Thanks Anthony 👍
enjoy
Hi Alex,
Hope your well..
Maybe try Jiff or Ciff and tooth brush on the window catches to clean them up.
BR
Andrew
Good shout! I have a steam cleaner now so that will work great. Look like once catch may need changing
Looking good 👍
Thanks mate
Love personalised plates, here in 1985 in South Australia they introduced plates to commemorate the Adelaide F1 GP . I procrastinated and eventually bought one, there were two left, one was 347 i grabbed it as I was born in March 1947. Unfortunately it's not saleable of transferrable I only have the right to use it, if off a registered car for more than five years they take it back.
That sucks. We have 10 years to use them or we have to pay again to retain them if they are not applied to a vehicle
Hi Alex
Great fine with the plate. Now do you
transfer the plate from the old car it was removed? I got a plate on a scrap car I would like to transfer but I was told the car your removing the plate from must be mot’ed. Any advice would be appreciated 👍
Hi Wayne i believe they have to be Mot'd and taxed mate to be able to do it
Hey man in Australia we call them personalised plates. I have my 63 vw beetle my plates are
BUG-63 at a cost of $540.
Anyhoo i love your channel . ✌
Thats an awesome plate! Thanks mate appreciate the feedback
@@classicminidetails8887 ✌
I follow you on Instagram and been debating getting a classic mini project for a couple years now and really making me want to get one more
Definitely get one mate! They are great cars
Hi Alex. Well you struck gold with the plate . The obvious question is can't you put it on the VW "R" ( they are wicked to drive !) or have you sold it ? Had no idea about the valve seats on the head . Only a passing comment but for the amount of miles you'll clock up would it really do any lasting damage? I guess you're not changing the carbs? As for the rev' counter well , it is period correct oh and it is your car ! Thanks Alex . Take care and stay safe.
Hi mate the Golfs been and gone mate. Was a great car but having owned it for 2 years and with my son on his way a 3 door golf wasn't the best car and to be fair i never used it though the week. The carbs are staying mate as i have spoke to alot of people and its certainly a good upgrade, again its bolt on bolt off whats nice
If you arent doing tons of miles with the S' you can safely drive it just adding fuel-additive.
Arent you in the builders business?
If so get the roof of the garage insulated, that will stop the heat escaping that quick. But you probably knew that already 😉
Yeah wont be doing crazy miles mate probably 1k a year max? Uts certainly something i am considering as the bigger road trips will be done in my van as its been converted
Big fan of private plates, they personalise it to you and they are timeless. Word of warning, if you write off a car get the reg transferred asap otherwise you'll lose it.
Thanks Mike! I didn't know that!
That looks a nice place to be, I am also a fan of a nice number plate and the ones that name call people with private plates, and there are a few, can go forth and multiply in other words F*** right off.
I have 2 . Great plate.
Exactly mate. I think private plates are a great addition to most cars
Did you guys know in the 60's there was a mini fitted with the numberplate FU2 😂
@@thatdudeinorange2297 i need that mini. 🤣 That plate is absolutely awesome
Is the rev counter contemporary as an add on? With the motor sport pedigree of the Cooper I'm sure people would have added those on back in the day. If the purists find it objectionable maybe you could make it a bit more 'period' by making sure it's the right age. I'm guessing a Smiths one would have been the aftermarket accessory in the 60's and 70's?
Its a smiths one mate, every cooper S i see has one so certainly must be a period mod
I saw "GR54EME" once in a Morrisons car park but it was on a BMW Z4 so there was no way I was getting that plate lol. I do like the Cooper on original steels but I'm with you waiting because £1200 is nearly what i paid for my daily!!
That would be a great plate for you. Yeah the wheels i am in no rush to do them and i cant justify throwing that much more at them at this moment in time. I already have a minivan i have used once since i restored it and a mini i haven't even drove 🤣
@@classicminidetails8887 Thats a painful thought, having those two and not having gone out in them.
@@graemew7001 yeah it sucks mate. At least it not like i have limited time with them as they are both long term cars for me
Have you considered vapour blasting your carbs they will be better than new
Yes mate i have, i dont want to rebuild them though
We used to clean em with cellulose thinners? Worth a shot, are you taking them off or doing in place?
Hiya mate, have you got any pictures of what youve had done to stop your garage flooding? I'm having the same issues.....
Yes i can get some to you, you can message me on Instagram? @alextoon94
it does look better with the stickers off plain and neat and classy have you drove the car yet
Thanks mate! Not yet i will be having it adapted once spring arrives mate! Only been a passenger
@@classicminidetails8887 I bet you can't wait good luck and enjoy looking to buy a mini my self in the future I had one 4 years ago miss having one can't wait to get one
@@classicminidetails8887 enjoy mate
Does that Heater eat Electric?.....is it Rubber flooring and lastly, the Storage Boxes next to Your Tool Box where did you get from , Flooring too ,Thanks
It probably will be harsh on electricity mate. I got my flooring from Garage style flooring mate. The toolbox is from halfords
@@classicminidetails8887 not the tool box the plastic stack boxes at the side
@@deenunya7735 i think i got them from Wilkinsons mate, just plastic draws mate
nice update - what product did you use on your garage floor - it always looks in mint condition
Hi mate, the actual flooring make?
yes please - my man cave needs a spruce up :)
@@onepairofhands its PVC floor Tiling from Garage style Flooring mate
cool - will take a beak at that - keep safe fella
Cooper S engine bay 🤤
I know! Its those carbs that do it for me
Van needs the earlier blue and silver bonnet badge??
I believe later vans had them mate
@@classicminidetails8887 Do you think the van bonnet badge is correct?...... Looks exactly like the one on my 1988 Mayfair.
Your Mayfair shouldn't have a Leyland badge mate
@@classicminidetails8887 just checked the Mayfair badge and it's actually a plain cross, I remembered it wrong. The van is 1972? then the badge still looks too late for a 1972? Didn't they have the word Mini on the badge at that age?
I've got a car you can put that plate on..... £25k and it's yours mate 😂👍
Bit pricey for a Mayfair 🤣
Potato 🥔
Just looking through your channel not seen you before, might subscribe after.
@@classicminidetails8887 I'm new to this mini youtube deal pls tell me how to make #youtubemoney
Headlining of a Mk1 mini is meant to have glue stains!
I believe so! Its ripped near the drivers side though 🙄
Whhaaxxxxxx oillll
You know the score kid
Fan looks good to me 🤭🤭🤔
I'm not sure whats right or wrong
I would imagine the dickhead comments come from people that are just jealous Alex.
Could be that, i just think people lose manners when they have a keyboard in front of them mate. 99% of my audience are great guys like yourself so a few idiots wont ruin it for everyone.
If you're gonna break the law publicly like this, don't then start trying to justify it. Either do it, or don't.
Do what?
So let’s get this clear.....you bought a private plate which makes some sense to you but none to me.....when I saw your previous Toon plate on the blue mini I just thought you were some Newcastle United super fan !?😁
So now obviously it can’t and shouldn’t go on either the van or the S or the Red 2000 mile mini.....so then you say ‘let me know if you know any decent 80’s mini’
SO why sell the blue one.....Oh wait yes that’s right.....’I don’t have space to store it’
And now you want another just for a plate? Surely that’s just defeating the whole object?? Stick it on one of your road cars I keep seeing in the background and be done with it
Don’t get me wrong I have a lot of respect for you and the quality of work you can afford to be done to your cars, not impressed with how you start them after sitting idle for so long but that’s another subject, but at times your so like a good mate of mine.....Spend money for the sake of it 😂
I will be shifting my low milage one on soon mate, what am i doing wrong starting them up mate? Be interested to hear your opinion on it
