if the server power supply is kept under ~60% load, it should be quieter than GPUs. and it’s so cheap, robust and packed of pcie connectors. What a wonderful psi for mining.
True. I got one myself but I’m afraid of using the 6 pin connectors (as I haven’t seen one with 8 pin breakout board) because that handles 75watt so how could I trust plugging it into an 8 pin pcie gpu that needs at least 80 watt but mostly over 100. Theoretically it wouldn’t be able to handle it. I’m paranoid when it comes to safety.
You my friend, are a crypto mining genius. I am currently expanding my gpu mining farm with 24 x 1660 supers i. e. I have no chill or concern for eip 1559 and I'm in it for the long haul. God damn been looking for some detailed explanation regarding Power Supplies and finally someone actually did with more specific details. Thanks alot. I Only Have One Request Not Only For This Video But Just In General. Please try to keep your speech just a tiny bit slower when you're explaining things cause you're giving a lot of very important detailed information and it would be perfect if you'd be able just to slow down like a tiny bit LOL. Thanks again and much appreciated.
I see on lots of ATX PSUs 6 pin connectors for SATA etc. can I plug in a normal 6 to 6 or 6 to 8 pin on these? I want to use them for the risers and the GPU 8pins for the GPUs of course. Is that possible or are they on different voltages or very limited watts?
Honestly after looking at the video, and of course with all respect (you really have a super channel!), I think that recommending top 2 a power supply that is guaranteed 30 days really does not make that much sense. The RMX series are not that great in terms of recommendation on Newegg as well. As for the cooler master #1, I am not sure, since this brand is not the biggest one. In my case, I have purchased in the last 8 months 6 x 1000w G3 and they proved to be of very good quality and reliable, as well as coming with a 10 years warranty. Surprisingly, the G5 and the G2 are not as much recommended on Newegg even tough they come from the same company, so stick with the G3. Avoid the GQ at all cost, the cables are cheap, and the 4 750w I had (i got a deal) died on me. Those are garbage....
I've been working with two PSUs per rig, sometimes three, mostly the platinum ones from fractal design, bequiet or seasonic. It works pretty fine for me and I never had any problems with them. Though I have to add that my rigs are mostly 6-card-rigs with 3080s or 3070s. Thanks for this great video!
Running 3 ax1500i 1 ax1200i and one hp 1200w server, also a rm850x. By far my favorite one is the ax1600i or the evga 1600 t2, bur those are hard to find.
Corsair Hx and ax 1200w platinum is as good as the cooler master, if not better, because of the amount of connections you have on them. At least for my 24 gpu system (3rigs with 8x3080 gpu's), my go to is Corsair 1200w platinum.
how much wattage does each riser consume? I have rtx3080s and I was wondering if I can use a dual pci6 8 pin and from one of the ends put a pci splitter and feed the card and the riser with one end to the psu?
I'm just using a Thermaltake Smart 600W Gold that came in my ABS Master Gaming PC w/ RTX 3060 12G, and i5-10400f.. Do you think I would need to worry about upgrading the PSU? In Hardware Info I'm only pulling about 130W in total about 120W for the 3060. I know its not the best way to look at wattage, but I'm doubtful that I'm pulling over 300W from the wall.
What a great Video!! 👌👌👌 I had to listen twice, as you have so much input😊 I have a rig that puls 930 Watts for 4x5700XT plus 3xRX580. The cards need 730 Watts in total. So what takes additional 200 Watts? Can the psu cause the high cunsumption: it's a "bequite dark power pro 1500 Watts"? Thanks
Hi, on method 3 (min 3:55) could I use another splitter to power two risers and another splitter to power the third riser? So, splitter to splitter, is this safe?
I ordered pcie splitters from Amazon, I had nowhere else to get them from, but the female 8pin doesn't fit my gpu cables? How am I supposed to know which ones to get that actually work? I just realised they fit my new psu, but not the older one that comes from a prebuilt pc. How can I have mounted a new GPU to that old psu then that fits but these splitters won't fit`??
I didnt know that theres a cpu cable splitter to pcie. Is it safe to be used on gpu or just the risers? I might get some of this to expand my rig. Thanks for the informative video!
I would use the splitters with caution. Had a 3060ti split with riser (the card is one pcie plug) and it melted almost burning my house down. Just saying they work with a gpu with one plug isn't really accurate.
Just saying, for the electrical aspect and how to split the VGA power with splitters, given all the types of different of cards, are your really sure about all the options you are giving? With all the different cards options, and after looking at red fox crypto guide, your options almost seems to simple, but it might only be me...
Can someone help me find GPU cables (not splitter) in Germany. My Corsair RM1000x came with 6 connections but only with 4 cables and I can't find the right PCIE 8pin to dual 6+2 pin. Thx.

Oh I see in that case it should be fine, I never tried that before but if it's 12 pins then 12 terminals and if the cable is 16awg then it's good to go (Didn't know 12 pin existed)
Um yeah you definitely need to be aware of the tdp! Please dont give these people the wrong information. You need to always use the tdp when adding your wattage incase the gpu defaults to normal settings. If that happens and your over your 80% hou can cause a lot of damage
I do talk about that a line after ;) I run all my rigs 3+ years without using the TDP as the base value. Only in Windows as far as Ive seen your gpu can default, other OS like HiveOS dont have that issue
Great video :) can I mention my personal experience. I was mining for 2 weeks using nice hash with 3080 and was taking 350 watts using Hwinfo [ so far the highest I have seen 375 watts in games with 4k resolution. But anyway i was mining using splitter cable 8 pin psu and 8+8 in gpu if i am correct and literally nothing happened. I play like this all the time and people keep saying you shouldn't be using those splitter cables. Corsair wouldn't supply them if it was issue. i have corsair 850rmx psu.
There are a couple of factors here such as continuous load. If your always pulling 375 watts 24/7 and using a single vga cable then something bad is bound to happen. Always better stay safe than sorry!
