9:44 here in Argentina the standard is 220-10A and that Powersupply uses 220-13A. It is something to keep in mind just in case since the common connections being 10A can cause something to burn. Just one detail!

They are small jet engines. You will not be able to sleep. Trick is to keep them under ~70% load so they don't kick on the fast rpm mode. So like the 750s you don't want to go above 500w too far. The 1200s run on 110v only do 900w, so don't go above 630w or so. If you run 240v you can run them up to 840w before they take off.

    • @mbshawaii

Question, I have three 750w PSUs and the fans have never kicked on? I keep them under 500 load, but the cases are pretty hot to touch. Is that normal?

For those who thinks about getting a server psu, here are a few questions i had when i first got mine :-)
    -How loud does it gets?
They can get loud but it depends on the load and ambient temp. Its a high pitch whining noice when it runs on full blast.
If you have just half load in it, you probably will hear it but i was surprised how silent it was then. But as i got more cards and used more power it got louder. It depends on what you can tolerate.
Btw, the fan runs on low speed whenever its connected to power, and turned off. This is normal and will help cool it when you turn off your rig.
    -How hot does it get?
They get hot, i was concerned at first but turns out its just how it is. I can easely meassure about 40*c on top of it when running.
When you first start up, it will run silent, but as the temp rises, the fan wil ramp up to full blast until the temp goes down, and then it will gradualy reduce the fan speed. I meassured the temp from the exhaust, and when it reached 44-45*c it went on full speed.
I designed and 3d printed a shroud for mine where i have a 80mm fan blowing air directly into the back of the psu to help feed it with air, this reduced the fan noice a bit as it helped with cooling. I was thinking of uploading it to Thingiverse, but havent got around doing it yet.
I went straight for the server psu, i have never used one before, but it was really easy and CHEAP!
Btw, the display on my breakoutbard shows volt, and not amp/watt.. But that would be awsome if it showed watt!
And when it starts up and nothing using any power, it shows 12.1, when its running and the gpu's mining, it will go down to 11.9.. Kind of weird and i dont know if its normal..
    Edit: Apparantly its normal.
I made a video of my PSU, and different sound levels, also how the fan shroud i made helps to lower the sound of the fan.
    Video:
    ruclips.net/video/wuPqBd300EE/видео.html
    Fan shroud on Thingiverse:

I bought from Parallel Miner a 1200W HP server PSU. It is only able to power two RX 580s (can't power 3). It can't power a single RX 5700 XT. So I'm building a 12 1660 super rig. Each gpu should pull 78W. and only needs 1 8 pin. Per my understanding, it would be safe to connect a single six pin to a server PSU and split it to power both the GPU and the riser. Is this correct or do you think I'm missing something? It's the question that has been bothering me, any advice would be appreciated. THANK YOU

Another type of power supply that you could use are ASIC power supplies. If they have a 6-pin, they always run off of 12 volt and are compatible with GPUs.
My rigs all run off of 1 Bitmain 1600W PSU and 1 ATX PSU.
I have recently ordered a few Pico PSU's wich will end up replacing my ATX PSU's

1st thing: Ohms law. Use 220/240(depending where you are) whenever possible. 2nd thing: In older homes with smaller panels, let's say you're running 1 server supply @220 and an atx from an outlet. You should probably be aware that during summer months when electricity use is high and many, many homes have this, you will get line drop on one leg. Now, your server ps? It's on both and the neutral, it cares not!
Your atx that you plugged in and maybe power 1 or 2 cards off of? You can see where things could get funky and if you hang a scope on either leg to neutral/gnd or to the chassis of the rig for that matter, you will likely see some wild transient spikes when the AC kicks on with the microwave or something.
I think if you CAN, then run the ATX on 220 as well. That way the whole system is balanced, spikes are absorbed much easier and your reference is going to be the same to gnd/neutral, this can save cards and especially motherboards.
Plus, all that said, it is ALWAYS better to run higher voltage at lower current than vice versa. I mean, look outside...........Imagine if those lines carried 500v instead of 15k to 500k+? They'd be thick as a tree trunk to bleed of the heat generated! Great video, thanks!!

My question is can I use an ATX 6pin>Sata in the same way? My front fans have to hook up to a hub and that hub will only accept sata for power? I tried using my Thermaltake Smart RGB 6pin>sata strand on the server PSU and it didn't do anything, im wondering if this is at all possible to achieve or is it only atx molex cables that work with server breakout boards?

So using the splitter cable which is a single cable 8 pin to 2x 8pin is not recommended I was told by microcenter. My questions is will a server PSU with breakout board 6 pin to 8 pin cable work to power up my GPUs?

    • @MiningChamber

Hey, the info from microcenter is based off if your going to be gaming on it. But you will be mining and using less power if you properly overclocked it. So 2 cables from your psu is completely fine, with or without splitter is fine too. Server PSUs are also fine!

If you have an ATX PSU and Server PSU linked via cable, can you plug all components on the ATX PSU and none on the server PSU? or is it a case of even distribution with hardware plugins?

Hello Mining chamber. To build a mining rig a ASUS B250 Mining Expert that has 3x 24 pin, I wonder if I can use only 1 server PSU with 3 ATX PSUs that i already have.
The ATX PSUs that I have are Corsair 1000W 80+ Platinum. But I want to build a 19 GPUs rig with 9un RTX 3060TI and 10un RX 6800. To power them up, as you said that we should only use 80% of the PSU power, the 3 ATX PSU wont have enough power. So, can I use only one server psu to power up some of those GPUs? How should I do it?
I mean, for example, I could power only 4 gpus per ATX psus and then, with the last one, plug in the 4 pin molex cable to the server psu and then plug in the other 7 gpus to the server psu? Or is there a better way to power them all up?

Great video! Clarification please - I am using a break out board and ordered multiple 6 and 8 pin cables from site you mention in video. But I am 4 cable short - Can I use 6 or 8 pin cable that came with my original (thermaltake) psu in the remaining slots in the breakout board for either power to riser or power to Gpu? I believe you said it’s ok to use but not ok to interchange cables with different PSU’s....

So the 6-pin board can deliver 216W / cable, that's only 173W with the 80% rule. Now if you run a 250W card which draws typically 50W through the PCIe and 200W through the 2x8pins, means it is better to have 2 cables for the card instead of an Y-splitter, right?

Hey, can you help me? I've got a rig running 7 rtx 2080s and an rtx 2080TI, and when the power flashes, it will turn off then automatically turn back on because of the motherboard's bios being set to "last state" when power received, but whenever this happens, the server PSUs are not in sync.
I'm using molex -> 4 pin adapters from the ATX power supply to sync up all 3 server PSUs that I have for this rig, and if I turn off the computer completely, then power it on using the power button connected to the motherboard, everything syncs fine. It's just when the motherboard turns it's self on when it receives power that they aren't synced.
The motherboard I'm using is: MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Plus
I have two 750w server PSUs and a 1200w (running at 900w bc 120v) server PSU.
