Yeah. When you play normal picking up all bullets herbs items not skipping cutscenes and kill most of zombies, it will take 2hours plus, unless if you not yet memorized the whole game "blind walkthrough"
I was just talking with my friend about how I used to consider anything under 2 hours "good", bc that was what got the Rocket Launcher lol. Now I have a PS1 vers. PB of 1:15:37 lol. 45mins faster... it's amazing what speedrunning can do for your skillset.
I was looking for the American version speedrun, because I think that speedrunning the Japanese version is basically cheating since there are less zombies, so thank you so much, this is great.
Yea and the two zombies on the US second floor are put RIGHT in your fuckin way too, there's no way to skillfully avoid them, you just have to hope RNG is on your side. And so I think it's bullshit we're forced to import a Japanese PS2 AND a copy of Biohazard 2 to have competitive times, when the Japanese player's reason for not wanting to allow the PS2 SCPH-70012 (a vers. of the PS2 only released in the US, which at the time we though gave faster times due to shorter loading times) was because they'd have to import an American PS2 and buy a modchip. It's like wth, that's what we have to do?! Why is it their opinions matter more?
@@slothstradamus89 100% agree. I speedrun the English version and those zombies on the 2nd floor hallway are bullshit. you can bait them and run around them but doing that is risky cause if they turbo, you're still getting grabbed. I always grab shotty literally just for those 2. The lickers in the parking lot are bullshit as well. And the one's in the Umbrella facility. 3 in 1 hallway. And if you kill one, they just spawn another one on your way back!
Ogat Ramastef the in-game time timer count all cutscenes & door animation even if they are skipped :) that's why ! So there's 11:21 minutes of cutscenes in the entire game ^^
Makes sense though, it would have been easier (and use less power) to simply pause the game engine while displaying the videos. So then the question is, do you show a playtime that matches the clock for the player, or do you match the skipped cutscene time?
@@Sylfa Naw there's not even a question of which one you should do lol. You just go by the game's result screen at the end, bc it's something that can be seen by everyone and agreed on. Verifiable.

Someone please make a hack for this GC version in wich we could skip transitions by pressing a button, then the TAS records for this game can migrate to the hacked version, wich would be about 30min
That would kill the whole TAS thing though because it's meant to be a theoretical non cheated perfect speedrun. Now, if they did a TAS of the PC version where you CAN skip doors, that would work.

how'd you skipped those cutscenes? like Leon and Marvin conversation and Ada Leon Ben scenes and some cutscenes as well ??? I can only skip by pressing start button in some cutscenes like opening king plug and first licker encounter scene like that.

no, most speed runs wont allow skip cut scenes ect, if your looking for a genuine site or record it has to be a legit 1 time play thru and will usually tell you its requirements to be accepted. multiple speed run types exist and what site counts more idk.. i know on my xbox one console in resident evil 1 remaster im like 309 or 307 on the leaderboard for time, i wish these games had a leaderboard time but people abuse it.
