i love how different leon was in the original, in the remake he’s so polite n idealistic but here he’s just pissed, he’s got no time for anyone’s shit i love it
I think it's a bit inconsistent though, he wasn't like this during any of his scenes with Claire and she's an adult who's perfectly aware of what's going on so there's no reason to sugar coat anything. I personally felt the remake handled this better, he starts out as a typical nice guy, very naive and idealistic but as the story unfolds he slowly becomes more and more pessimistic about everything. One of the best examples of this is with Leon finding out the truth about Ada. In the original, with the characterization of him we've seen up to that point this shouldn't have surprised him at all and he definitely shouldn't have been so gullible as to refuse to believe it until Ada comes out and admits it. In the remake Leon obviously doesn't want to believe it but by the time he meets up with Ada he's already beginning to suspect it might be true. Remake Leon isn't stupid and knows better than to fully trust someone he just met, that's why I love his line "I realized, as much as I wanted to trust you, I didn't." The game itself acknowledges how little they actually know each other and really shouldn't trust each other at all but that the two still care for each other on some level. Remake Leon felt like a boy becoming a man, OG Leon felt like a boy pretending to be a man.
To me Resident Evil 2 and 4 are tied for the best and my personal favorite, not just because Leon is awesome in both, but the gameplay was just wow. I literally can play these two games over and over and over.
Super fun to watch. Thanks for doing this. It's especially nice how you can essentially skip the door-loading between rooms. Makes the speedrun a lot more fun to watch.
I loved the tank controls for RE. I dont see why everyone complains so much about them. With the fixed camera and the backgrounds it works really well.
I remember watching my mom play this when I was very little. The part where Ada(Forgive me if I spelled that entirely wrong) tells Leon to let her go and she falls, that really messed with my 5 year old brain. I remember it just making me feel really sad, deeply sad. Can't explain why.
I remember the first time it took me weeks but after a while me and my dad could shave it down to about 3 hours or so! But these runs are nothing short of a fucking dance man! No idea how people can play so fast! Even the remake best time i can get is 1 hour 50 mins! How the fuck people somehow shave a whole hour off of that... They aren't human! lmao
@@Serprizebuttsecks beat the game a lot of times and you'll figure out what you need and don't need. How to dodge most if not all enemies, excluding bosses because most of them are mandatory to beat. I figured i don't need that many bullets and not as much herbs to get through the game. If you have that knowledge, not picking up most items is essential to time saving and dodging most enemies as well. Or some people can hack the game just enough so they can shave a few minutes off, if not 10. Say a 5 seconds, they will hack it so that, that 5 seconds is cut down to 2.3 to 2.4 seconds, give or take 0.1 to 0.2 seconds more or less, so you couldn't tell if they actually hacked the game or not. Or do 0.4 to 0.6 percent more damage than normal something small enough so that no one can see the difference, which even for a small number, makes the biggest difference. Pay enough attention and you still won't see the difference, unless you had numbers to work with and a very smart brain and game calculator, but even than you might not see the change or hack. But if you hacked just a bit more damage in than what i specified earlier, than it might show. Hackers will go less if they have to. Trust me, if i was a hacker or game hacker, I'd do this little trick. No one will even know or see the difference, or even, probably won't care enough to give it a look over.

Usually the people that take to speedrunning a game are super-fans of that game, and assuredly have enjoyed the game many, MANY times in just the way you described. But, let's just be real, most games can only hold that charm for so long. It's only natural that players would seek out new challenges for games they hold so dear. Try and think of it like this...speedrunning is just a new way to keep experiencing a game you love.
I gotta say this was fast. I managed to get something like between 1h25m-1h35m back in the old days with PS1 version. But I suppose, that this PC version runs a bit faster too, and you just avoid/run past a lot of the enemies, whereas I just shot everyone blocking my way. Great job!
+Dirty Deed Indeed The shooting takes off the most time. Even shooting to stun them and then running past takes a tad more time than to just kite them. Esp. since there is mostly more than 2 Zombies at once. Getting bit and then shaking them off to make them stumble is also faster than aiming, shooting and possibly reloading the gun as well in the same process. I remember playing this back in the old days (lol) as well and getting mid/high 1h up to a 2.0h times. Mostly because of random errors and the occasional stupidity death. So a sub 1h run like this is awesome to watch.
+OhStylo It is yea, always entertaining to watch. And it does require some guts, courage and practice, so you can make it past the enemies (something I still lack with this game, but it's still fun to play nevertheless, whatever is your playing style with it). And that tactic actually is quite handy, you save a lot of ammo for the bosses, which are then easy to take out quickly with desert eagle. And talking about desert eagle, I suppose it's better without those upgrade parts for it, upgrade parts just slow it down a lot because that heavy recoil and it's doing just slightly bigger damage, than the stock version, correct ?
+Dirty Deed Indeed Ooofff... I don't know the exact damage of the upgraded DE, but it's supposed to be much higher than the original magnum. Able to decapitate 2 zombies at once. I find it unneeded, as the amount of ammo is sufficient for bosses, and for speedrunning, finding the parts and then combining with the gun take several minutes/seconds away. Also you noted the recoil, which costs an enormous amount of time per shot. It kills faster but the time needed to fire is huge. Also while stunned from the shot you can be hit and intercepted by an attack, so it's even twice as handicapped. And you can't downgrade the weapon to the normal Eagle. Skip the parts, save some time :D
50 mins it's freaking awesome, I remembered when the first time I played this classic RE , in 50 mins I'm still looking for unicorn medal . it took an hour for me to find out that fckng unicorn medal under Cris redfield's diary in stars office
They changed a lot of stuff making 'em better. For example: Officer Marvin is in a different location and the cutscene where he points the gun at you, is completely different. Another example is the statue which gives you the Ruby, you dont need a book for it. And last thing: You can be near Claire and you dont need planks for the Windows.
I remember in the 90s telling to my friends, "How can the graphics of a game be so perfect?"

This is better than the remake, he makes it look easy, very good game
One of the things I never understood was when Ben gets infected where does William Birkin go? The only way out of the corridor is through Leon. Lol.
In the novel of resident evil 2. Willam punches threw the cell wall and infects Ben.
its fixed cams, if you could turn the other way and look up you would see the huge hole he left in lmao
probably there's a way out , like in Remake Mr.X blow the wall out to decapitate Ben
He came in the cell through the wall behind ben
He did more than me during 1 hour of playing in 10 minutes.
I love reacon city❤️ cidade linda, amo relembrar do meu PS1 (ainda tenho) jogando de madrugada re1, re2, re3
I use to run this game as a kid , now I would probably fumble through it , thax for sharing ,the nostalgia))
They changed a lot of stuff making 'em better.
For example:
Officer Marvin is in a different location and the cutscene where he points the gun at you, is completely different.
Another example is the statue which gives you the Ruby, you dont need a book for it.
And last thing:
You can be near Claire and you dont need planks for the Windows.
This should be considerated an ASMR
Imagine trying to ask Leon something...
Memories. Huhuhu .. Good old days.. I love this game
