@@justkf2things443 Modern games suffer from trying to do a significant amount more work in a much tighter schedule, relatively speaking. The resident evil games don't look super crap and great for their time because of the fixed camera angles, allowing them to render higher quality textures that don't need to move and be re-rendered in a 3D space, like a modern game. Notice how any environmental texture on the original resident evil games are noticeably higher quality than any character models. I think modern games are visually still pushing boundaries, it's a lot of the other areas that lack a lot of polish due to severe time constraints.

RE2 OG was in a league of its own; the remake in the eyes of CAPCOM and RE2 fans alike know the remake is not the same game, but a variation for what a 2019 version would be. Thankfully, RE2 OG exists and will always be apart of my collection.

It's something I can't describe that easily, it was like an odd sensation: the more I loved playing the game and the more I feared to keep moving forward. Well, I'm almost 30 now and I can truly say that Resident Evil 2 is still my favorite video game of all time.
I remember back to 1999, when I first played this game, I had nightmares. Funny thing is I played this game on PC with one of my friends and we got stuck at the first screen because we were too young to understand that we can run through hordes of zombies and we were too scared as well.
This game still holds up very well, i remember me and my cousin used to play this in the late 90’s as kids and dying 1000 times before we even got to the police station lol
My older brother and I used to play the demo to this on the PlayStation over and over. I must have been just 5 or 6 years old and was utterly terrified. From what I remember, the demo let you play the game on a 15 minute timer. My god we knew those first 15 minutes inside out. What a nostalgia rush.
Okay, I know it isn't impressive now, but watching the shell casings from the gun react to the environment must have been an awesome touch to see in the 90s.
You are so right there matey, atmosphere, sound effects and music. the graphics just did what was needed, set you on edge and let your mind do the rest....98' 25 bloody years ago. I dont recall living a single one of those years..

I had to fight the final boss perfectly and not get hit at all. One hit and I was dead. I finally beat it. Lol. Back when I had no real problems and just hanging out with friends and playing PlayStation.
I was roughly 5 years old when this came out, and of course, I wasn't allowed to watch gameplay for it. Ended up playing it in 2006, and it's been my favourite ever since.

I remember my older brother coming back from Uni with a PS1, back when this game came out. It was, for the most part, me and my brothers first time seeing 3d video games.
@@justkf2things443 yeah, but I generally love every game since RE7 though.
It's even prettier on GameCube version.
yea brother i just recently played this game i played the remake before and it is amazing
This game holds a very special place in my heart. Not only because it's sentimental to me but because of Paul Haddad. He was my favorite Leon. I wish I met him just to tell him how awesome he made my childhood. Gone but definitely not forgotten. I'll always remember you.
R.I.P Paul Haddad 💔😭

The Funny voice actings made me more confident of playing re2
Sorry about that I fort you were one of them
Oscar worthy screen writing for sure
@@toprak3479 nothing will top resident evil 1's voice acting tho
This is true
While the remake definitely has more atmosphere, it's refreshing to actually be able to see what's happening in the original.
One of the best things about these original games was the puzzles, the remakes left most of them out.. as well as the original soundtracks and sound effect were always awesome!
I remember watching my dad play this all the time, so nostalgic:’)
Its Jamie Davies did you play this video game too as well as your dad totally crimson?
So cool have a dad who play resident evil... 👌😎
I'm playing this for the first time (wasn't alive in 1998 lmao) and oh my god this has been so helpful, I'm not good at games like this and I've been stuck on some of these puzzles for hours
The original really was marvellous, wasn't it? Love the bit where the zombies appear in the door opening sequence! As polished as the remake is I think this is unsurpassable, as old as it is - the music, the game design, the camera angles, the lot.
RE2 OG was in a league of its own; the remake in the eyes of CAPCOM and RE2 fans alike know the remake is not the same game, but a variation for what a 2019 version would be. Thankfully, RE2 OG exists and will always be apart of my collection.
The remake uses the OG music.
The sounds of inventory in Resident Evil games is soo good!!
Yes I definitely agree love it I was 6 yrs old when this game came out great memories watching my dad play the RE games
Anyone here cause of the remake ?
Me
Me lol
the remake is a totally different game, seen the gameplay on youtube, went straight back to my ps1 and threw resident evil 2 in it!!
Nope. I played RE2 before Remake.
Mhm and the “ reimagining” not remake is much better
The remakes for this game & RE:1, 3 and Zero for GameCube seriously made me fall in love with the resident evil story. So many secrets, monsters and experiences within each game.
Remakes stink
@@Leonlove111 The remake of the first game is like the gold-standard for Resident Evil. I prefer the original RE2 over the remake, but it's still an amazing game. The remake of 3 on the other hand...is terrible. I haven't played the 4th remake, but for me it's kind of a different game from 4 on.
@@drownthepoor agree The Originals Are Best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also I just love the spooky, macabre atmosphere of the old school RE games, I didn't like it when Capcom started turning RE into "Gears Of War " Lol
2:27:31, that is the best Leon-Ada scene, way better than remake, and a little better than scenario B. I played this 21 years ago, and missed Ada so much, I don't want to get the boss alone!

Where has the time gone? this game was the best the 1990's have past by so quickly and here we are in the 2020's
Ramake was good, but returning to watch this acrually makes me realize how good the original one was. More puzzles, better level design etc. Mr X. charsing us added some atmosphere but thats it. Here you can feel that more rooms with more puzzles actually makes me want to dive in again.
Better level design??? Are you kidding me? LOL the remake fixed the TERRIBLE level design of the original lmao the buildings in the Remake now finally make sense and look like real life locations
@@Garyllaz Comparing 1998 opportunities and graphics with 2019. Smart move.
@@Doom.Keeper Silent Hill 1 was released a year later and had 1000 times better level design than original RE 2, you're just talking from nostalgia. Ahhh.. the good'ol days.. I got goose bumps hearing the save room music.
Honestly the best upload I’ve ever seen/heard of Resident Evil 2 I work graveyard shifts and Watching this and listening to this in the background is good.
No audio clipping or video in poor quality.
It’s all Very good also good job playing through it
The use of pre-rendered graphics is simply genius. Brought so so so much details in those ancient times.
Even after finishing this game many times, I still enjoy watching this.
My dad bought me this to play on when I was a kid. I loved it so much I replayed it over and over again. And yes naturally I’m getting the re2 rEMake :D
I remember when I played Resident Evil 2 for the first time, I was 11years old and I felt so intrigued and distressed at the same time... It's something I can't describe that easily, it was like an odd sensation: the more I loved playing the game and the more I feared to keep moving forward. Well, I'm almost 30 now and I can truly say that Resident Evil 2 is still my favorite video game of all time.
Same here!!
🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯
The backgrounds/music of this game and the backgrounds/music of Resident Evil 3 (ps1) are STILL INCREDIBLE
Been playing this game since it came out on PS1 i was 9 back in 98 now i still enjoy this classic i have it along aith 1 and 3: Nemesis on my PSP lol
I LITERALLY HAD NIGHTMARES ABOUT THIS GAME ALMOST EVERYTIME I PLAYED IT
For real? 🤔
I remember back to 1999, when I first played this game, I had nightmares. Funny thing is I played this game on PC with one of my friends and we got stuck at the first screen because we were too young to understand that we can run through hordes of zombies and we were too scared as well.
So much better than the new shit pawned off on us
Bringing backs memories when I was 7 or 8 years I was watching my uncle plays.. now am gonna play remake what a feeling...
This game still holds up very well, i remember me and my cousin used to play this in the late 90’s as kids and dying 1000 times before we even got to the police station lol
Your cousin and i have the same skills for make the Brad Vickers run.
Lol it’s just one of those things like damn why we keep dying 🤣🤣 then eventually alright whew we getting better at the game
How did you die that many times before getting to the police station? It’s like 5 minutes into the game lol
@@amuroray9115lol I was like 7 at the time and we didn’t realize that you can also just run and avoid the zombies lol
My best friend in high school introduced me to Resident Evil, and He played it for me at his house
I'd never known such a creepy atmosphere
The door opening sequence always felt so sinister for me as a kid, I still find it the same way as an adult but I love it!!
Ahh I'd play this in my dads studio apartment at midnight. He worked night shift and I remember being scared shitless while playing but so fun haha
I never did beat this game when I was younger........god I miss those days! 😥
Watching my older brothers playing this game when I was little and the Jurassic games too and was too afraid to play it myself ever!! It’s comforting to watch this.. brings back good memories 👍🏼☺️
I remember this game. I was hooked on it. I would play it for hours. When I got to the end boss I had hardly any life and no herb or any way to heal. I had to fight the final boss perfectly and not get hit at all. One hit and I was dead. I finally beat it. Lol. Back when I had no real problems and just hanging out with friends and playing PlayStation.
Rip paul thanks for being apart of my childhood. Looking back on re2 i gotta say we dont give enough credit to the soundtrack.
I was roughly 5 years old when this came out, and of course, I wasn't allowed to watch gameplay for it. Ended up playing it in 2006, and it's been my favourite ever since.

@@rockerdude8000 I responded to NYG5's comment. He was talking about the cop who gets eaten by the zombies in the beginning of RE 2 remake. I know it's kendo in the original 1998 version who gets eaten. Before commenting you should understand what the people are discussing about. "Stand back sir. I have got this" is a dialogue from RE 2 remake and it wasn't spoken by Kendo. Voila, clear your confusion.
More like keeping the eye close than a close eye huh
Was a very scary game back in the day was the music and sound affects that made it scarier
I remember my older brother coming back from Uni with a PS1, back when this game came out. It was, for the most part, me and my brothers first time seeing 3d video games. One night we stayed up to watch him play this. Needless to say, we were terrified. That was probably the first time I experienced a game have that much of an emotional effect on me.
In a lot of ways, the 90s was the last great decade.
I remember I was probably 5 or 6 years old. My cousin had this game. Man I remember it changed my life!! It was beyond scary . Such a shame that movies never captured the horror of it
What a nostalgia, i remember playing this when I was 16, during high school years,
I've just finished RE2 Remake and oh my god, I guess I'll have to play all the REs out there to get the story! I'm shocked, how well the Remake pays tribute to the original!
What're you talking about? They changed so many things. Not to mention the disappointment RE3 Remake. Didn't even put Nemesis into the title. Trash remakes.
@@navimajora19 nostalgia bias at work. the remake of 2, at least, is fundamentally the better game in every way

It's not. What with the cliche re write of Ada introducing herself as a "FBI Agent".
The fact this is supposed to take place in 1998 and yet Ada has "secret technology like she's from the future and not to mention the 2050 looking underground umbrella facility. Mr X never became his Super Tyrant form instead he got designed with the look of the tyrant from RE1 HD Remake with one giant claw arm and one hand that still remained human in form...... So no, it's not. The original had so much more emotion when Ada fell and Leon thought he lost her.....voice acting in 1998 is superior to the remake version. Claire's story didn't make an impact like in the original. Not to mention removing Sherry's replaced gameplay through the sewers with escaping some made up orphanage that was nowhere in the original game. You're right. Nostalgia purist takes me over. I could care less about being able to aim at the legs of zombies and shooting them off to make easy escapes. It's easy gameplay designing in order to please the new gamers today who do not like a challenge in games anymore.
