Honestly it seems like the best way to deal with him in both games is to just run past him. In RE2R it's just that you have to juke a punch and then run.
I am literally thinking the same, that wasn't just a single hit, that was a full combo which should have, by all accounts, taken out like 85% of his health. If you go into that with less than topped of 100% hp it might even lead into a straight instant kill.
@@Saldinchen Theoretically yes, but in the game itself this attack does not really take as much damage, in addition to factors such as distance and the fact that the blows hit the side wall and that may have reduced the power of the attack.
@@PeanutButterAndJellyBrosYeah Claire A/Leon B definitely has an overall better feel than Leon A/Claire B though all 4 routes contain some canon elements
Gilbert Liberty No, it isn’t tool assisted. If it was tool-assisted, there would not be as much human error/reactive measures present in this run. Jake’s lines for navigating through rooms are good, but not perfect. You can see course corrections when he is off trajectory towards goals in rooms, hugging the geometry of walls, taking damage instead of going for difficult/rare evades, using setups that account for human error instead of predicted patterns dependent on RNG, etc. There are also menuing mistakes that a TAS simply doesn’t make. THAT in itself is a strong indicator that this is run by a human with no game-manipulative measures. Why would you bother to make a TAS for gameplay, then not bother to edit the inventory navigation- arguably the easier of input scripts?
@@clonesharpshooter101 You haven't seen a lot of speedruns don't you mah dude. Lemme just cut to the chase. If you use a tool assisted in a speedrun. it doesn't matter if you make a mistake or bumping edges of the stage. That's the whole idea of a speedrun to cut time as short as possible. Being bit by a zombie in RE2 1998 saves time than killing em. The way he's hugging the geometric shit like you said? It's a typical technique like most of the TAS users do due to it's weird increase in speed. And also, he probably does this just so it ain't obvious he using TAS. So yeah, how else are you gonna argue this?
Gilbert Liberty I can make a few points more than this. “If you use a tool assisted speedrun it doesn’t matter if you make a mistake or bumping edges of the stage.” Yeah, it kind of does. You may be correct about chipping corners to clip past them, but holding on to walls or making too wide of a curve can mean difference of frames or seconds depending on how far off course you may be towards the path to a goal or door. Knowing your “geometric shit” is actually pretty important for optimal time, if you can even qualify knowing that a straight fucking line to get from point A to point B is faster than curving into it as geometry. Frames add up, and a TAS saves on these as much as possible, if not making a perfect run given the routes or methods known of at the given moment. You seem to know enough about Resident Evil’s movement, but not that correcting your course in line movement can cost some time in a seemingly frame perfect run? I never said that killing a zombie would be faster than taking damage. My point was from a few instances where there are TAS setups for clearing (as in making your goal, not exterminating) rooms without damage that are faster. I can give a few examples that I can see from a TAS run compared to this one. I can clarify if you want to know what I mean. You only argued one point from my multiple, claim I know nothing about speedrunning, hold an argument from thin air on the accusation that he is using a TAS that isn’t categorized as such with no support in your original comment, and then defended your claim by just saying he’s sprinkling segments where he isn’t using a TAS just to hide it? It’s been done before, granted, but I highly doubt it’s evident here. The runner has clearly been practiced enough to know a lot of setups and options. I could be wrong, but it’s pretty unlikely. Even if I was ignorant to speedrunning or this game, you certainly don’t make it very welcome and come off as an elitist that everyone should believe in what you say. I’m really against misinformation in speedrunning, but I’m absolutely against misinformation from somebody who has such a superior attitude.
