I remember always getting scared when the AI would sell all their buildings because that would mean the enemy ore harvesters would begin their bloody rampage running over everybody
Spies walking right past attack dogs: like a boss... Trapping enemy reinforcements off-screen: like a pro... selling 3/4 of your base and/or killing your own guys for fun before you've even won whilst doing a speed run.... total, legit mad lad
I was confused about those dogs. Why don’t they attack the spies? Very nice speedruns in any case. I really enjoy watching these after completing the remastered campaigns. :)
Great video! I really love the QoL changes they made to this remaster (unit queues, select all offensive units, etc.). They're subtle changes without affecting the core gameplay in a drastic amount.
Most OP unit in Red Alert. Cheap, fast to build, fast speed to run over infantry or rush the unprotected parts of a base, takes up less space when swarming them etc etc etc.
It's to get closer to the grid so that you select the right square to walk to, this game has a tendancy to send troops into the line of sight of enemies for shits and giggles, so zooming in makes it so you click the grid location you want
Kane would approve. In the Allied missions, it became clear Kane was running either side the Commander was running, to ultimately create GDI to influence NOD. In a cutscene, it was referenced that several European nations were considering a Global Defense Initiative to face the onslaught of Soviet Russia.
When I use to play this game I would get down on playing the allies because the Soviets outclassed them in almost all areas except for navy. But seeing this kind gives me that realisation that I never knew how to capitalise on the allies powers. Especially like the expansion with the chronotank and that help give the allies the edge. You have to build allied armies utilising all the units to have any advantage
@1:20:41 -1:21:02. In the original version as soon as you destroy the MCV, Barracks and War Factory the computer sells all the renaming buildings and does a mass Banzai charge at you with all the soldiers that came out of the buildings.
I remember that I tried very hard until I finished mission 13 a few seconds before the end of the in-game timer and you needed less than half of this. Incredible.
I'm very impressed by your playthough of mission 8. I knew it was possible to destroy or capture that Soviet base rather than just play the survival game, but I've never rushed to kill it. And does deploying the construction yard at your starting position actually draw the AI to that corner?
The enemy attack locations seemed pretty random to me. I put the CY down immediately (and sell all those buildings) to get the tank production started ASAP.
When i was young i always thought the civilian was kicking rocks when they attacked, always made me laugh when i saw them running around and ''kicking stones'' at tanks..
Light tanks are faster and do more damage, but have less HP and range. Both tanks are good depending on the situation. I like medium better for large armies, and light tanks for small armies. Also mediums don't get one-shot by tesla towers on Hard.
Mission 8 is so brutal. Come on game, if I already have enough of an army to destroy the enemy base, I have enough of an army to fend off any off-map reinforcements. Just end the mission, don't make me sit through the whole timer.
Right! Bro I destroyed the enemy base, and set up 5 aa guns around my power where they kept attacking, then I just walked away from the computer for awhile. Got bored watching my money go up, and having to build more silos.
yep, I wanna do as many of the campaigns as a I can!

@@StuGames looking forward to the soviet missions. I watched a couple of videos from other people but mostly noobs and not fun as your videos. Hope you do C&C as well
So on that last mission, small tanks Stu is building pop out of the factory and make their way to the enemy base as if he set a rally but there is no rally in Red alert. How did he do this?
Honestly thats one thing I think was a misstep here, adding a simple command to make your units go where you want them too out of the factory or barracks, its such a simple thing, but the only way to get it is to get a mod. Otherwise I dont have any real complaints about this game :)
How do you stop the army at 1:10:36 coming out to kill you? By the time I reach them they've always run away from the flame turrets and I have to fight my way through them. Seriously impressed by your gameplay though! I didn't realise ore factory spamming way the key to quick victories!
The trick ist stay as close as possible at the wall and the soldiers won't notice. First walk to the left with a soldier k the dog. Walk back with the soldier. Than go there with an engineer.

Revisiting the Red Alert 1 universe with better military knowledge, the Medium Tank cannot be the Abrams and the Heavy Tank cannot be the T-80. The weight classes were wrong. Based on the era, the most lore-fitting would be: M48 (or some modernized variant) as the Medium Tank - this would settle the part where the gun was either 90 mm or 105 mm as some modernized M48 variants used the 105 mm. T-55 (or some modernized variant) re-scaled for double barrels as the Soviet's basic tank. The concept of Heavy Tank would be deferred to another. The T-55 here fits! because there are T-55 modernized variants out there which look very much like the T-80 shown in RA1 cutscenes. When you have captured both sides' War Factories, the dilemma would be whether to build $800 or $950 tanks. They are both so close in cost and effectiveness that they both almost if not make each other obsolete and clutter up your build menu. The solution is to introduce the M60 to replace the $800 option and remove the $950 tank to be replaced with an expensive $2,500++ Abrams that will become the new Heavy Tank, which could even be double barreled as you have combined both sides' tech. The M60 here fits! because there are M60 modernized variants out there which look very much like the Abrams shown in RA1 cutscenes. Then the old Mammoth itself will be bumped up into a higher cost and power level.

I know this is a speedrun but every time you sell the CY my heart skips a beat.
You beat the entire campaign in the time it takes me to beat the last level.
