REmake is also one of the most genuinelly well made games ever, its absurd that a game that came out in 2002 (iirc) looks that good, a testament to the idea that great art style beats graphical fidelity.
Agreed. With the resources on tap now, character models and 3D assets would look unbelievably good in the style of the older fixed camera games. Wish the style would be revived with a contemporary game's budget.
The RE Remake did come out in 2002 for the GameCube, but it was remastered with HD graphics in 2015 for modern consoles. The gameplay he is showing is from the RE Remake HD. GameCube version was 2002 still looks good though
@@rpeck2832 The HD port of RE1Remake is a lazy upscale of assets of the Gamecube original with almost nothing changed, so it looks exactly the same as when the Gamecube version came out (just in higher resolution now). It looked like magic back then. RE0 HD port had some slight tweaking to it but mostly exactly the same again as when the original came out.
@@rpeck2832 Yea, and because of the almost timeless nature of the presentation of the RE1Remake, it might be difficult for a developer to justify a modern full 3D bells and whistles update if it could be compared less favourably. Check out the Wii stuff like Umbrella Chronicles to see why they never bothered for a long time. Eh, maybe they will do one for the 30th anniversary in a couple of years time.
He'll I enjoyed 'RE 6 (well, one and a half campaigns of it) but it's rated just fine, 'RE 5 gameplay on the hardest difficulty with the goods up weapons was very satisfying, although, from a horror standpoint RE7 wins
'RE 5 does have plenty of areas with horror atmosphere though, the crocodiles in the swamp part (too short imo) for example, and the eerie music cue when one is stalking you
@weclock well you don't need to buy it seen as it's free for everyone and also 99% certain Not-Chris says something about going after Lucas at the very end of the game
It's crazy how Mikami and his team were responsible for both the greatest third person shooter of all time (OG RE4), and arguably the greatest survival horror game and remake of all time (RE1 remake). Two games with very different design philosophies and yet they both nail everything they set out to do. Capcom Production Studio 4 should've been kept together no matter what and had their genes cloned. Even the guy cleaning the toilets there must've been a genius.
@@geedee1264 Not sure who wrote the story and notes, but Mikami was the director of RE1 and its remake, so he had the most input on the game’s design. My excuse not to play RE0 is due to the fact that the item box is non existent. I won't play code veronica either. Fixed camera angles and tank controls are two of the things that scare me. I also give the RE1 remake a 6/10. The RE3 remake was above all of them. And yes, I am serious about this. Don't feel threatened just because I have an opinion.
Fr Ik my opinion might make some people mad but number 1 re2 2 re7 and 3 re5 those are the games I had the most fun with but I definitely think re7 was better than five I love all of the games tho
@@play_b0ybunny I really liked RE 7, but after I beat it and got past all of that hype, I discovered that it was actually not everything that it was cracked up to be? It was scary, but you eventually got to a point where no longer did any sensation of fear happen at all, especially from the enemies, which were only a few different types .. and really, it ended up being boiled down to being just one enemy! Overall, it was a cool game and I like it a lot better than eight because it went completely in La La Land ...
@@turismofoegaming8806 7 was the only one that was scary for me and Yk even if it wasn’t super scary most of the time there was some parts that scared me and that’s why I really love re7 and I love replaying it a lot but everyone has their own opinions one of my best friends favorite game is re6 and Yk I like re6 but it doesn’t feel like a re game so it’s not my favorite
@@play_b0ybunny I loved it when it first came out it's just after I've played it a bunch of times and I realized some of the things I didn't like? But like the video points out, they're all good .. for the most part? I think the one I like the least is resident evil eight and that sucks because I thought it was going to be better than seven and I really liked when it first came out!! It's only after I beat it a bunch that I felt it was kind of not as good as I initially thought? Idk.. I've beat a lot of older ones hundreds of times and I still love them just as much!! The formula is what I think is really good and I also got good creepy vibes from re7, it didn't maintain that throughout the entire experience it kind of fell off about halfway through?
@@play_b0ybunny I was only ever really scared by the first couple when I was still young enough to be a little bit intimidated, I guess? I was only 12 years old when the first came out. But I also like RE7, I just caught onto the game after I beat it a few times and realized that overall it's got a nice scary vibe to it- But I really want to replay it on my PS five but it is so blurry on there it's unplayable!!!!! It's absolutely ridiculous!? I also like RE6 for how action packed and fun a campaign of it can be, but yeah, it feels like a different game, sure! But it's definitely one of the best games that came out during that time for co-op, especially?? should not have been a mainline. Resident evil.
And yet those are both somehow ranked higher than the RE3make. RE3make might have been disappointing, but when the biggest complaint against a game was that people wanted MORE of it, ranking it below a game that "just isn't fun to play" like he says RE0 is just one of the weirdest takes I think I've heard.
@@bepohal he ranked both RE1 and its remake as the best games in the series. And had 2 and its remake in the top 3, just under its remake and 4. How can you say he's not a fan of RE? Besides 7 and village are pretty far from 1-3 themselves, so why are they the bars of quality for the series if 4 isn't?
@@jormilos he obviously is a RE4 fan. if you are following the threads, comment sections and forums long enough it's easily noticeable if someone is a fan of the franchise or just of cartain games. RE7 is a prime example of a modern RE game which implemented the whole OG formula while RE4, 5, 6 & 8 are good games but horrible RE. RE4 isn't a quality bar for RE, at all. for a standalone game, yes
@@bepohal it's funny we consider it this way because 3 was the one that started the series down the trend of a more action-y resident evil anyways. Poorly implemented in some cases like with the dodge mechanic, but the encounters with Nemesis, the large monster carrying around rocket launchers and flame throwers are absolutely far closer to action sequences. Like sure it's scary thinking about when Nemesis may show up, but the guy bursts through windows and charges at you to punch you in the face or grab and throw you. 4 gets a lot of blame for "changing the tone" of the series, but 3 was absolutely the starting point of that. Besides, I don't recall gman saying this list was a ranking of best REs as RE titles, just in general. So there's more getting factored into how he rates them than just "is it a good survival horror". His complaints of Code Veronica for example are completely valid in terms of the level design, monsters, and generally how it handles switching between the Chris and Claire leading to a poorer experience. All this said, he still put RE1 over RE4 and had RE2 close behind. The man can be an RE4 fan, and also be a RE fan in general
To me, the worst part of RE3 is how many times Nemesis was in the middle of killing Jill and then just didn't. That's not a good way to be scary with a horrible unkillable monster. He picks her up, then throws her, then points a flamethrower at her for 5 seconds while she runs away. Nemesis picking you up should just be the end of you. Her staying alive has to mean avoiding that situation altogether. Lazy horror writing is what we got.
@@dansmith16 TBH it was weird to me that Jack Baker didn't just kill Ethan outright a bunch of times (he knees you in the gut and then just stands there when he catches you). But at least Jack is a crazy side effect rather than a full on BOW. I can at least head canon that away with "he lacks focus and is a bit of sadist because of all the poison." Nemesis is like building an RPG whose grenade stops in midair and then fires a spring-loaded boxing glove at you before falling to the ground.
Maybe he's based on the Nemesis from the shitty movie and has feelings for Jill but he's still programmed to kill her, so he just fucks up everything to NOT kill her. Just kidding, he's an annoying simp at best.
It’s also difficult to rank because so many titles are just fantastic overall. Do I choose the Original’s Remake for being the best survival horror entry overall or do I rank RE2make for enjoying it more? It’s hard as hell man.
@sothatsdevintart2562 Probably RE1 remake because it is by all accounts the perfect survival horror game of all time, truly living up to that title. RE2 remake still suffered from the recent REmake curse of having cut content. Though not as bad as RE3 remakes cut content though.
Exactly. RE1 thru RE3 are all pretty similar. Then RE4 is almost it's own thing entirely. RE5 is RE4 on steroids (in more ways than one). RE6 is RE5 on steroids and then lathered in a layer of horse shit. RE7 and RE Village are their own thing. The remakes are their own things.
Yup, like I really don't rate RE4 because it was ridiculously goofy and I despise QTE's and preferred the cinematic cameras and aiming being difficult, but, I have some close friends who think it's the best game ever made. Though I do still really want to play it in VR but it's still exclusive! Then we've got the whole mods situation to attended to. I didn't really like Vanilla RE2R, but the modding scene is really good.
There is a quite peculiar way to dodge zombies in RE0 that isn't quite as common in the other titles. Basically you need to wait for them to lunge, immediately backstep just one or two steps, anf the zombie will miss. After a zombie has missed to grab you with a lunge, it will be stunned for 1-2 seconds, in which you'll have the time to run past it. Another thing with zombies is the difficulty to eliminate them with a knife. What you need to do is go for their legs. They fall over after getting stabbed two times SOMETIMES after three stabs. You can use lunge dodge to your advantage in this because when they get stunned after a failed lunge you'll usually have time to stab them twice before they lunge again. Although zombies have different walking speeds so this must be taken into account when fighting them in melee.
RE0 throws so much ammo at you, and zombies are so much weaker compared to REmake, that it's rare to waste time dodging zombies unless they're far out of the way. If they're in your way, just shoot em. It's only a game where ammo is scarce on hard (which is *by far* the hardest of hard modes in the classic titles), or if you're using both characters actively instead of stuffing Rebecca in a fridge somewhere while Billy does all the work (since Billy fires faster and has a higher crit chance than Rebecca does, making him more efficient with ammo.)
@@dc8836 But I only play it on hard mode so ammo is definitely scarce for me. You get a decent amount of ammo on hard, but the timing of when you get access to it is a bit off and you will have to select some harder enemies to deal with. I usually try to avoid wasting ammo on spiders since they're easy to dodge. The eliminators on the other hand are a right pain in the arse since they soak up a lot of ammo and are hard to hit.
@@sevenproxies4255 It's a lot like REmake in that in many cases it's best to "waste" shotgun or magnum ammo on enemies like eliminators simply because trying to kill them with a pea shooter will just cost you too much healing
This is also the case for REmake. It’s easy to do with the alternative controls because you can do a circle motion on the analog stick in front of the zombie to get it to lunge and miss. The leg targeting is also the correct strategy in REmake.
What makes the moth corridor in Resident Evil Code Veronica so annoying is that there are infinitely respawning blue herbs in that corridor. So what happens is, the moths lay their eggs, you go through the load zone, they hatch and poison you, you go back through the load zone and heal yourself whereby the moths have probably respawned. It is pointless busywork.
@@megamax898 Maybe because you are indeed very alone in that opinion. Re4 remake has a very good flow and the most annoying part, the hanging cage section from the original has been cut.
CV in general was a little annoying. Great game but the map layout of the island didn't have much interconnectedness. The bandersnatches were just plain lame. And that poison has stun lock during the Nosferatu fight sent 12 year old me into a rage.
@12ealDealOfficial You have Dreamcast at launch too? Man. We were such a Sega family lol. When dreamcast came out it was a huge event. We also got House of the dead 2 with 2 light guns. Code Veronica was one we had all been waiting on as we got every issue of Dreamcast magazine which came with a "GD-ROM" full of game demos, and CV was one of the demos (besides Jet "Grind" Radio, Soul Reaver, and Powerstone lol.) Got any memorable or similar stories?
I've been playing this series since I was a fifth grader back in 1996 shitting myself because of the first zombie and I still believe that the REmake is one of the best games ever made.
6 offers over the top coop action. 7 literally revived the series and is the closest to a fps adaption from re 1. re3 remake just took an already existing game, removed content and barely added anything new that wasnt established in the re 2 remake.
@@icessoup All games on the list are for me fun. All mainline are and some spin offs like revelations. 7 Is literally a fps version of re 1. The OG RE2 is still the best game in the series IMO. It just has the perfect presentation, story, gameplay loop, and best pacing of probably any game I've ever played. If RE2make didn't cut true A/B scenarios and some other content it would have maybe taken it's place for best RE game.
My jaw was on the floor watching the intro fmv for Resi 2 (although it _always_ pissed me of that Leon one shots the diner zombie and we can't do that in game!) 😂
I’m glad we agree on how lacking the remake for 2 was. Some regard it as surpassing its original, but the developers didn’t seem to bother to much with the gameplay than they did with the graphics…
@@moongoalie2410 This is blatantly untrue. It refines the OTS gameplay from RE4 and Dead Space and succeeds at making a classic style survival horror game with OTS shooting. Everything about the remake is a massive improvement on the original from level design to sound design to enemy design to bosses and the gameplay loop with the re-introduction of defensive items from RE1 remake and it actually feels tense and scary unlike OG which was the easiest of the PSX trilogy by far. That being said I consider both games about the same level only due to the lack of proper B campaigns. But it's objectively better in pretty much every other aspect except the soundtrack. Zapping system got replaced with window boarding which is much more strategic and fair.
@@greenymeeny It also lacks in enemy variety. The OG had more different enemies. Like, in both RE2 and RE3 the things I wanted to see the most in the remakes were cut. I wanted some really disgusting slimey hallways and rooms for the moth, with maybe some corpses on the wall where the moth larva is eating the bodies. but the Remake just cut it out completely. And with RE3 I really wanted to see Raccoon Park in RE Engine glory, but it doesn't even exist in the remake.

Its insane how good RE Remake looks. The lighting on the character models perfectly matches the prerendered backgrounds so they don't feel out of place.
He also doesn't mention Not A Hero, which ties up the Lucas plot thread, which unlike Separate Ways, was free, so him not mentioning it is even worse. I don't know how anyone can take this guy seriously.
Something people often overlook about Code Veronica is that the knife is really useful against standard zombies, meaning it’s very easy to conserve ammo in the early game
Having RE8 so low is criminal. I like that one almost as much as 4. It even reminds me of 4 with the action sequences. All that 8 really leaves to be disired is the fact it needs more puzzles and a bit less action.
Yeah. It's also fresh because it combines traditional fantasy with RE tropes, and this somehow works. Heisenberg and Dimitrescu are show-stealers and imo the more memorable NPCs in the franchise, certainly when it comes to bosses. What 8 did poorly was the Miranda fight and the part you play as Redfield. Some hate the Donna part as well, but I do believe it's mostly because it becomes a chore the third time you have to play it. But the first time and even second time, I thought that was a genuinely good part of the game. 4 overstays its welcome I think. It's just far too long, and the remake has less items to unlock than 8 did.
@@sandercohen9712 Honestly the Donna part was kinda bad in my first playthrough too. The moment it showed you could hide under the bed when you go get the fuse told me something would chase you, and all tension is lost when walking around a table is enough to get away from it. If you weren’t there in 99 to experience code Veronica on a Dreamcast you wouldn’t understand how big a role nostalgia plays in your memory of how things actually were.
Village is not really an RE game, in my opinion. Was written by a westerner, borrows it's gameplay structure from a Ubisoft game, and kinda craps on the older games in terms of lore with Sheva not even getting an easy call-out and Chris being a bit of a jackass. Villains were more over the top than CV and felt more Marvel style in that way. It's not really in the same league as the older titles, though it's certainly not a bad game.
@@12ealDealOfficial That doesn't matter. It's just a better game than most of those. How can bloody the mess that is Code Veronica or RE 0 be better than Village?

@@cloudtx RE2R did the same type of cuts to be fair. Your missing two entirely different playthroughs in the remake and the moth was taken out. End of the day to say the bloated mess of RE6 is better than RE3R is just insane.
7 exists and it's a basic indie horror game with more than one person working on the graphics, doing things worse than some of those first person indie horror games.
RE3 Remake should be played on Inferno with no shop items. That's the definitive experience, and most people missed it. It's still a flawed game, but that fixes some of it.
Bro the og ps1 trilogy is still on ps3 psn for cheap ($10 each or under). Those games are fire and once you spend 10 minutes with the tank controls you'll get into the swing of things quick. Its amazing how they nailed the survivor horror formula with the very first game. Playing RE1 in 2024 it didn't feel dated at all.
I’ve said it forever and it’s came up with the recent tomb raider remake. Tank controls aren’t dated, they’re a skill issue. The movement contributes to the gameplay, tension, and difficulty in these games.
@@krakenmckraken9128 If you practice your movement for like 5 minutes before you go into rooms with enemies its not even a big deal. Whatever reason people don't like using tank controls it's a shame. You get how to use the them in just one game you'll be comfortable to use them in others. For example I'm playing the Silent Hill series for the first time after playing the og RE trilogy and I didn't even flinch going into SH1's controls.

I wouldn't say dumb action game, but 4 is DEFINITELY NOT horror at all. I played the game for the first time in VR and killed the regenerator with sheer damage (no sniper) with 0 issue, didn't move. I also played it on PS4 and Switch, still no issues. Resident evil 4 is purely an action game, with horror inspiration for design. It is definitely not a horror game in any stretch of the imagination.
Dude, I asked for RE1: Director's Cut for Christmas JUST so I could own the RE2 demo. I played the hell out of that demo before ever playing the actual $50 game my mom paid for. Most expensive demo ever. It was marketing genius for them to include that because I couldn't have been the only one.

What kills CV for me is how piss easy it is, you drown in ammo all the time. Also not a fan of the weird tone in the Game with the crossdresser bad guy, felt out of place.
RE6 is over-hated for no real reason other than the internet telling you it’s bad. I had a blast with RE6 and even rank it above RE5. This coming from an OG veteran of the series

RE0 is great once you know it, but it sure is hard to love at first. It's a lot better when you know it and speedrun it, skipping most enemies and passing through the levels in a specific order and timing while managing the inventories. The only thing that's really annoying in this game is the fucking giant bat boss, the aiming system and camera wasn't meant for that.
Do you purposefully write your script around clips you can use from the game to emphasize your point in a comedic way or does that just happen naturally?
I didn't like Zero until I figured it out. Now, I love the game. RE3make also has solid gameplay. It says a lot about the core series that the worse games are still good, albeit with shitty caveats, particularly with RE3make's awful amount of cut and censored content. 6 took the longest to grow on me, but it's fun. I can imagine how cool it would have been at launch meeting random coop partners for 4-player sequences. It was a really neat idea.
Ehhh, Resident Evil 4 is good, but honestly it’s only so highly regarded because it’s extremely accessible to people who could care less about Resident Evil or Survival Horror

After RE 3 remake, I all like them. Also, you can see that I prefer horror over action.
I think Resident Evil 3 Remake deserved to be higher, not much higher mind you just above 0 and 6. Resident Evil 7 too should have been higher on the list as it's basically the game that saved the franchise, and I don't necessarily agree that the game gets bad after the first few hours. For me almost the entire game was an absolute blast, except for maybe the boat sequence which was kind of awful. Lucas didn't disappear they deliberately saved him to be villain of the Not a Hero DLC. Other than that pretty solid list, I never played Resident Evil 1 remake sounds pretty cool honestly.
Village being below 5 and 7, near 6 is a true crime. Village in my opinion is the most refined the franchise has ever been. It has every element of resident evil at top level.

@Name-kk8tq damn, well that makes the original RE Remake even more impressive
@@rpeck2832 Yea, and because of the almost timeless nature of the presentation of the RE1Remake, it might be difficult for a developer to justify a modern full 3D bells and whistles update if it could be compared less favourably. R E five was underrated
He'll I enjoyed 'RE 6 (well, one and a half campaigns of it) but it's rated just fine, 'RE 5 gameplay on the hardest difficulty with the goods up weapons was very satisfying, although, from a horror standpoint RE7 wins

RENemesis is a dollar store Jack. Just an unkillable monster with none of the charm of the original.
@@dansmith16 TBH it was weird to me that Jack Baker didn't just kill Ethan outright a bunch of times (he knees you in the gut and then just stands there when he catches you).
But at least Jack is a crazy side effect rather than a full on BOW. I can at least head canon that away with "he lacks focus and is a bit of sadist because of all the poison."
Nemesis is like building an RPG whose grenade stops in midair and then fires a spring-loaded boxing glove at you before falling to the ground.
Nemesis in REmake3 is somehow dumber than the average zombie. At least the zombies try to kill Jill when they get the chance.
Maybe he's based on the Nemesis from the shitty movie and has feelings for Jill but he's still programmed to kill her, so he just fucks up everything to NOT kill her.
Just kidding, he's an annoying simp at best.

I find that this is one of the hardest series to rank since there's so much variance between titles.
@@thegamingpigeon3216The remakes are basically RE4.5 that switches out groups of mooks for tankier enemies.
Half of RE 4 remake was pointless busywork and only I complained about it.

I like it more than 4, mostly because it’s better at horror
Right?!
It also combines 4 different horror types. Creepy castle vampires, creepy dolls, Horror biomech enemies, and werewolves.
@@sandercohen9712 Honestly the Donna part was kinda bad in my first playthrough too. The moment it showed you could hide under the bed when you go get the fuse told me something would chase you, and all tension is lost when walking around a table is enough to get away from it. If it was an option area it would have been fine, but it being a forced section made me hate it more
The ones I played:
1. Resident Evil 4 Remake - one of the 5 best games ever made. Perfection in every way.
2. Resident Evil Village - I love this game. The atmosphere is so good.
3. Resident Evil 2 Remake - absolutely amazing game with great graphics, story and thrills
4. Resident Evil Zero - Yes I do love Rebecca and yes I do love the atmosphere.
5. Resident Evil 7 - creepy and original
6. Resident Evil Remaster - the gem that started it all
7. Resident Evil 5 - fun ride
8. Resident Evil 3 remake - cut short, but solid enough
9. Resident Evil 6 - mediocre shooter with few okayish/solid moments

How do you abbreviate resident evil to something even longer than RE but still make it sound gay
If you weren’t there in 99 to experience code Veronica on a Dreamcast you wouldn’t understand how big a role nostalgia plays in your memory of how things actually were.
I most of the time agree with you and your opinions.. But RE village being so low is criminal. Lady D is going to suck you dry
I expected REV to be RE Castlevania, but instead, you get Ethan being shat on by everyone and more Chris. How is it not Castlevania?
Shouldnt even be on the list, since it's barely a RE game.
@@12ealDealOfficial That doesn't matter. It's just a better game than most of those. How can bloody the mess that is Code Veronica or RE 0 be better than Village?
Re village isn't an RE game its a movie you have the illusion that you're playing a survival horror game.
Resident evil code Veronica deserves a remake, or a remaster with a optional overhaul rebalance gameplay mode
with new features and a new game plus features and outfits and goodies other new single and Mercenaries modes stuff.
Criminally underrated.

Seriously. It's pretty whack. His explanation of why he ranks each game where he does makes no sense.
Its crazy how good the RE1 remake still looks.
Was RE3 Remake a disappointment? Yes. Would I play it over RE6 any day? You're damn right.
I'm one of those guys that would have mentioned Code Veronica if you hadn't so, thanks for that.
Would be cool to see a follow up series ranking the side games like Revelations and Dead Aim
This. Absolutely. I'd love a ranking video of this length and quality for the side games. Videos like these are great ways for me to introduce the series to newcomers who might feel overwhelmed by the scheer quantity of games. The video was spoiler free (enough) and very clear on what each game was and was not, and I feel that it's a great primer for newcomers.
Playing RE6 with a friend is much more fun than alone.
Some of the things during my couple of playthroughs with friends made us laugh like never before. Great memories, good game.
While he does preface the ranking with a message that these numbered titles aren't entirely 'bad', I'm certain there is a magnitude of players who will disagree that RE3make is a worse Resident Evil experience than the bloated scheisse that is RE6 - "the closest that RE ever came to CoD" - which prompted the reboot of the series. Gman, what'choo smokin' mate?
Screw RE3 remake and the bullshit cuts it did to the original game.
@@saloz9483 not just the moth. Crows, spiders and hunters were also cut.
They even give you a whole room to practice in in the original 1996 RE game. I think all those "I can't do tank controls" people probably haven't tried passed minute or so and gave up (or maybe they got disgruntled playing RE2 original or 3 original which throw you straight into combat from the second they hand you control). Whatever reason people don't like using tank controls it's a shame. You get how to use the them in just one game you'll be comfortable to use them in others.
For example I'm playing the Silent Hill series for the first time after playing the og RE trilogy and I didn't even flinch going into SH1's controls.
I have them on my phone. Tank controls work really well on a touch screen tbh.
@@habadasheryjones I have friends that won't try the older RE games because of tank controls. It's not that hard, but they make it out to be rocket science.
@@taylorkennedy1428 They literally give you a room to practice in in RE1. Thats all I did. Spent 15 minutes with the controls in the dinning hall. Imagined I had to dodge zombies with the controls and the next thing I knew I had finished the game.

So, like every other RE fan out there after the banger that was RE2R, I just absolutely HATED the 3 Remake. To me personally it’s in my Top 5 worst games I’ve ever played.
RE3 remake should of been a DLC for RE2 remake

Resident evil 4 is purely an action game, with horror inspiration for design.
It is definitely not a horror game in any stretch of the imagination.

I can't believe RE 7 and 8 weren't higher on the list.
RE6 is over-hated for no real reason other than the internet telling you it’s bad. I had a blast with RE6 and even rank it above RE5. This coming from an OG veteran of the series
Well coming from a fellow vet, I thought it was awful and completely killed my interest in the franchise for years. Meanwhile I got a lot of fun and value out of 5. And this is before I was aware of 6's reception so it wasn't the internet telling me to not like it.
Tripping over zombie corpses every few steps, arguably the worst story which isn't a high bar for RE to begin with and the game doesn't know if it wants to be COD or survival horror which continued the identity crisis from RE5. Chris and Jake's campaigns are shooters without any adventure elements taking place in linear corridors and Leon's is also a shooter with some adventure elements like braindead puzzles that are even worse than RE4 and RE5's. Helena getting a pussy pass for killing the President of the United States is also retarded. It also has multiple unfailable QTEs which defeats the entire point of QTEs. Jake fist fighting a bio-weapon despite not having any powers like his father is more retardation in a retarded game. The entire game is completely over the top and not in a good way. The only redeeming things about it are Mercs and the fact that its enourmous budget made the initial 4 million sales unable to recuperate the losses and made them shift the games back to being survival horrors which caused a resurgence and renewed interest in the genre just like back in the 90s when RE1 first released which gave us classics like Silent Hill and Fatal Frame.

RE6 should be taught to all game designers on how not to make a game. To say it's abysmal is an understanding,

It's a decent game, yes
But the complaint is that it's not a decent RESIDENT EVIL game, which I also agree with
@@whocares9033re6 is a good resident evil game. Not all re games have to be the same genre. In the context of the story, it would make sense to be a action game.

Mid tier : RE0, 3, 5, 8 and Revelations
Trash tier : RE6
Haven't played Code Veronica but from what I know it's between trash and mid.
I haven’t even watched the video yet because I looked at the chapter list and got irrationally angry at multiple placements.
And that's fine: Resident Evil games aren't all too scary to begin with, even when that was their focus.
