Beware - These wheel covers stick out more from the tire than the stock wheel covers that come from the factory. From the side profile these look great, however if you look at the wheel covers from the front or rear, you will quickly notice they are not flush with the tire. It may not bother some, but it also means it’s more prone to curb rash because it sticks out more.
I can confirm this. ANY aftermarket wheel covers that fully covers the Gemini rims will do this. This is not the fault of the aftermarket rims, but a limitation they face due to the design of the Gemini rims.
@@Ben-vy1ob I’ve been using these for about a week and my official Wh/mi should be confirmed by next week. I averaged 251 Wh/mi with the original Gemini covers, and so far I can’t definitively say these ones are better or worse. I just charged to 80% today and I got about 240 Wh/mi on my 10 mile drive home (backroads, no highway).
Isn’t that what it’s supposed to do? That if you hit a curb, it’s not gonna damage your rim directly, but the wheel cover? It’s still cheaper to replace the wheel cover than the rim

This hub caps should be delivered by Tesla instead of the cheap looking silver gemini ones. Absolute great looking upgrade for the price and you get a lot more comfort from the 19 Inch rims for daily driving.
I have tested many other wheel covers with similar route and speed and each of them showed different results. However these covers seem to provided the most efficient results. Before I trash these rims, wanna say I love the channel! DO NOT BUY! They crack easily and scratch the hell out of your rim, even with the tape applied. They can also be a pain to remove, but that’s hit or miss. They look great tho 🙃
Appreciate your comment Jon. They might leave some scratches but I don’t really mind because I don’t plan on leaving the wheels without any covers. I just used these on 1,000 miles road and they are very efficient even more so on the longer trip. Thank you for watching and your awesome support!🙏😃
It would be cool to try the directional covers backwards. In other words put them on the wrong side to see any difference. Anyone else want to see that?
@@dadstoyscars the question would be if it is truly because of the directional design then turning them backwards would yield worse efficiency than even the stock Geminis. I suspect it has nothing to do with the directional design but because more of the open area is covered in general.
@@RyuMoto the directional design is aerodynamically inspired by a fan/turbine propeller design. It's likely gonna make a small difference (be less efficient) as facing it backwards is gonna draw in more wind into the wheel.
I unfortunately had a really bad experience with the Yeslak wheel covers. The package did not include any foam tape or the Tesla logo's and nothing else arrived later on. I installed one cover on a front wheel just to see how it looks. I was prepared to go to the local hardware store to buy foam tape, as these will definately rattle against the rim without foam tape. That is where my problem started. These covers refuse to come off, doesn't matter how hard you pull. I had to destroy each locking tab one by one to get the cover off, and the process broke the wheel cover in half. I chucked the remaing three in the garbage bin too, scared of damaging my rims. In my garage I had large flat scredrivers at my disposal to break each tab. Imagine being stuck at the side of the road in the dark not being able to remove your wheel covers. They were AUS$300, which is not cheap. In my case a really bad buy. The genuine Telsa covers come off easily as in your video.
I take my Gemini covers off whenever I wash my Model Y in order to clean the actual wheel barrel. Putting the tape on the clips seems unnecessary given the stock covers don’t have tape. If the aftermarket covers have a sloppy fit and need the tape that is a different matter.
The original Gemini covers don’t the rim of the wheel. But these covers cover the wheel including the rim which could rub between the cover and the rim. That’s why you would need the protective tapes to reduce the damage and noises.
What is the equivalent wheel cover for the 2023 Model 3 with 18" wheels, please? Yeslak uses different nomenclature for different covers, so it's a bit hard to cross-reference to get the identical covers for a different model car. Great video! Methodical approach and really clear explanations. Thank you! Chris

@@dadstoyscars Subscribed :) One question, I saw in the video that you protected the clips as well. Did you protect the clips on both sides? (inner and outersides)?
Hey Paul great review and I’m getting ready to put an order through using your discount code. One question did you consider going with the gun metal grey wheels instead of the black ones since your Tesla is midnight grey?? Since I also have the midnight grey MY I’m trying to decide which color to go with. Thanks
The reason picked black because it provides better contrast with Midnight Silver color car. Metal grey has a little more premium with metallic looks but it’s just a little too close to Midnight Silver in my opinion. Thank you for your great support Fred!🙏😃
You were going in different directions so it could just be wind that makes the difference. You need to drive both directions in both tests for a more accurate result.

When going to the link you provided for the wheel caps it contains the following message in regards to the logos. “Note: It is compatible with Model Y 19'' Gemini wheels only. The wheel cover comes without logos. The design of the cover center is flat, and you can buy a 2.22'' (56mm) decal or logo sticker to adhere to our product.”
When I received the covers I asked Yeslak about this too and they told me that they will ship the logo caps out separately to customers. Thank you so much for watching and your great support to the channel.🙏😃
I received the rims a few week ago (thanks for the discount code), our MY last week and installed yesterday. I assumed the the wheel covers would be slightly larger than the rims and with the 90 degree angle overlapping the rim….they do not, the rim is covered, but from a few feet away you can see the silver top of the rim. Is this correct or is it possible that Tesla changed the size of the rim a millimeter or so, and Yesak did not update the mold?

Are you aware of the problem trying to remove these covers. For me they are impossible to take off, making them useless. If you use extreme force, you can rip them off the wheel, however then the clips on the covers break off. So far I am in discussions with Yeslak but I don’t expect much help from them.
Thanks for the review! They might look very cool on my Quicksilver MY that I'm getting next week :) ...I want to get something nicer than Gemini covers, but get as much efficiency/range as possible. One thing that kind of worries me is the removal. Or can I switch to winter tyres without removing the covers? If removed twice a year I have a feeling I'll break something.
These will look so good on quicksilver! I wish they offer that option here in the US. I wouldn’t worry much about removing. I was a little tricky to remove at first but I found the way to do it. Please my directions in the video and you should be fine. Thank you for watching! Please subscribe for future contents.🙏😃
I put tape on the clips as you mentioned and fixed it. But not able to remove the covers as one of cover is not fitting properly. I tried very hard but luck removing the covers. Is there any other way to remove the covers?
To solve your problem. Take a plastic item shape of a screw driver and genly press against the clip holder ( between Alu and cover) then at the same time pull on the cover. It will come off PS DO NOT REMOVE BY JUST PULLING these from yeslack break like glass I instaled one on the wrong side, easy to mistake left from right depending on where you are front or back of the car. I instaled them from the back/when sitting in driver seat left/right passenger side

I have asymmetry like yours but the markings for L and R are telling me to put the fins aiming opposite of yours. I think your way makes more sense but I don't am not trained in Aerodynamics. So I just went opposite of the markings unless they are marking it looking at the front of the car vs behind the steering wheel looking out.
I have used work gloves, got help and even tried various tools, impossible to get off. The clips are made from plastic that is not flexible and so they won’t give enough to come off. I think you are in bed with the wrong company here.
My order came in today and yes they are directional! I am replacing my 21 inch Uber turbine wheels on my y performance with the 19 inch Gemini wheels. I am tired of replacing back tires at 17,000 miles at 1100 bucks a pop! The diameter is almost 21 inches on the hubcaps compared to the 22 and 1/2 inches on the Uber turbine wheel face. They are pretty close in looks and size. Ps: I got gun metal gray which matches the 21 inch wheels! 😊
hey Ricky - just curious how long it took for your delivery? @@gizmopilot that’s interesting - mine finally arrived yesterday and the definitely are directional. they look the same on both sides, and 2 are marked with “L” and the other 2 are marked with “R” for the left and right side. just like he shows in the video.

Does these covers, or even the stock covers, scratch the wheel underneath when removing them? It look like you have some scratches from the clips on the spokes of your OEM wheels.
Those scratches happened to my wheels because I have tested, installed and removed so many times with many kinds of covers. The clips are holding onto the inside of the spokes and they are plastic. So they less likely to leave permanent damages. Thank you for watching! Please subscribe for future contents.🙏😃

another great review, thanks for that !! Would you have by any chance a video/photo comparison side by side with the actual induction or performance wheel? It's hard to see how similar it look or not - just worry here to have too much of cover/plastic look versus real wheel Although I hear well the benefits (flexibility, repair, and so on, plus obviously here better range) to move with hub caps rather that buying the induction wheels. I was wondering the same thing. The original poster was referring to the clips leaving marks. I think it very clearly shows the gouges in the rim that it left unless those marks are from trying a different brand of wheel covers?
Ordered mine a week ago but never received mine. Lack of communications and can't even find a customer service number to call them. Could they be a scam? Wtf?

Do you have to take these off every time you get your tires rotated and balanced ? If this is the case, I don't think you would want to put the tape on the edges. Also, seems like the clips would wear down over time and you would get a ton of wear and tear (scratches) on your interior rim.

I really hope they'll make similar directional wheel covers for the Model 3! It'll be an instant buy for me.

This efficiency increase is great. Has anyone else independently verified it? Also, I hope you ran multi trip test to make sure it isn’t an error.
I have tested many other wheel covers with similar route and speed and each of them showed different results. However these covers seem to provided the most efficient results.
I didn’t run multiple trips for each test because it will show different results as each time will be different temperatures, winds and traffic.

It would be cool to try the directional covers backwards. In other words put them on the wrong side to see any difference. Anyone else want to see that?
What's the point?
It would less likely to increase efficiency.

Thank you! Chris

@@dadstoyscarsoh ok my bad. As you said you were going to change covers at your destination.

I'm guessing they have a separate entity shipping those since technically it's illegal to sell a Tesla logo'd item.

It will come off
PS DO NOT REMOVE BY JUST PULLING these from yeslack break like glass
I instaled one on the wrong side, easy to mistake left from right depending on where you are front or back of the car.
I instaled them from the back/when sitting in driver seat left/right passenger side

Does these covers, or even the stock covers, scratch the wheel underneath when removing them? It look like you have some scratches from the clips on the spokes of your OEM wheels.
Those scratches happened to my wheels because I have tested, installed and removed so many times with many kinds of covers.

I ordered some center caps from EVBASE (Pelsive 56mm in black), but they’re a bit smaller than I thought, and don’t look quite right with the covers. Do you have any suggestions as to which caps to buy that would fit better?
Thanks for any help you can provide! 😊

I only found this from amazon.
I hope this help.
Thank you for your great support! :)
Thank you for your quick reply. I saw those, but I was under the impression that they only work with Kavanik wheel covers. Do you think these will work with the Yeslak ones that I have?
@@Lenny_Melzer They should fit too please check the size again before you order them.
Thanks for the review. How do these compare to the similar ones on Amazon?
These are directional which will help with aero dynamics and efficiency.

Geeez these are pricey af!! So many other options on Temu for the same quality + half the price
How long did it take for you to get the Tsla logo separately?
It shouldn’t take more than a week.
Please contact the seller if it takes longer than a week.

Well I was right about getting no help from Yeslak, as the hubcap is almost impossible to remove, when I tried the clip broke off. They said no help till I remove my negative comment so now we are at a stalemate. Oh well - thats what dealing with a company that does not stand behind their product feels like. Total rip off.
Any recommendation on black Tesla emblems for the hub caps instead of the white ones?

Can’t decide between this and aero pie
Can you get to the valve stems easily without removing the wheel cover?
Yes, you can.
There is a valve stem cutout on every wheel covers. You don’t have to remove the wheel covers to fill the air on your tires.

Hi, you have done videos on multiple brand wheel covers. Out of which which one you would recommend? and appreciate if you could give the reasoning too.
I will try to compare between different wheel covers for model Y.
Thank you for watching and your great support!🙏😃
@Dad's Toys & Cars Thank you. I just got my Y, looking for all accessories
@@rajvalluru1905 That’s awesome! Congrats on your new Model Y!
I hope some of my videos would help you get the right accessories you need.
That looked scary taking the Uber turbine hubcaps off!😮
Yeah, that’s the easiest way to take them off. Because the cutouts on the covers are very small.
Can u put them on model Y wheel that has a curb rash? Does it cover it up and will not see the curb rash?
Also does all Yeslak designs cover the rim?
Yes, you can put these cover 19” wheels with curb rash and they will cover up the damage as they cover the whole rim unlike the stick cover that stop at the rim of the wheel.
Most of aftermarket cover should cover the whole rim but also depends on which style but for sure these in the video will.

Any squeaking problems like the original Gemini covers had back in 2020?
There is no squeaky noice from the covers so far. I believe installing the protective foam tape definitely help.

So they are supposed to come with the Tesla logo? I bought them and don’t have the Tesla logo
It's been 3 months since the video was released.
They might not offer that promotion anymore.
