  • Biography of George sanders life and death, using his film clips and texts to tell the story of his life.
    LYRICS
    Feeling the past moving in
    Letting a new day begin
    Hold to the time that you know
    You don't have to move on to let go
    Remember turning on the the night
    And moving through the morning light
    Remember how it was with you
    Remember how you pulled me through
    Add to the memory you keep
    Remember when you fall asleep
    Hold to the love that you know
    You don't have to give up to let go

    Thank you for your kind thoughts for George... and I hope he is a peace where ever he is. He tried to cushion the blow of his actions as best he could he was a very thoughtfull person underneath and most that knew him well (and there were very few) were not surprised at what he did, never the less it hurt them badley and thats not what he was trying to achieve by his passing.

    It was a tough job ... I had to watch a lot of george movies to find the right clips and a lot of reading and research. quite a few i did myself at home (the burning photo was one of them). Lots of people dont realsie he had been a boxer. An i feel the lyrics fit well into the last days of his life. He was so miserably unhappy at the end. It will be the 40th anniversay of his passing in a couple of days.

    I am a without doubt an avid Sanders devotee and admirer. There was and never be another like him, he was unique. I do not have any information about Margarets side of the family, all I know is what ive found in the books and on the internet. I try to respect George's wishes for his privacy.

    Juliet said he would have done it anyway... he had talked about taking his own life if he ever became unable to look after himself. He didnt want to burden anyone with looking after him and he was terrified of becoming like his mother, who died with dementure.. We cannot start to feel the emmotional torture he must have gone through in those final hours. but one things for sure... he was a pro to then end!

    The pain and anguish he was suffering in the made living too painful and he couldnt see it ever improving. I dont see how suicide can be deamed a crime as he took his own life and not someone elses. It was his choice and he didnt want to burden anyone with his declining physical health. But he was a wonderful person as well as an extremely good actor (although he probably wouldnt agree with me!!). The good thing is that he is still, very much loved.

    Always thought of Mr. Sanders of some one of intellect and a suave presence. His words on screen gave one ignition to gain a better perspective of the English language. He always gave a performance of being droll and that of sophistication. When I am at a lost for words-I think about what he might say in a situation. He was part of the golden Hollywood and always will be. We miss your sophistication George and your intellectual humor. Your wit remains untouched.

    "If you covered him with garbage, George Sanders would still have style." Quote from Ray Davies / The Kinks on Celluloid Heroes. Probably mentioned on this site already, but the song informed me about George who I was not aware of but had watched on TV many times. Good stuff all around.

    This is fantastic! I was just thinking there was nothing biographical on George Sanders in this day and age, then I searched and found this. I have always loved George Sanders and wished I could have been there and tried to talk him out of this. Thanks so much for putting this together in such a touching way. Excellent song too, my eyes are full of tears.

      superstrangevideo Thank you ...that's why I did...he was such an amazing character who led an amazing life. We think of Flynn as leading and adventurous life but George's up there with him. When I heard of Robin Williams death its smacks of the way George took his own life and for parallel reasons...I too wished I could have stopped him:(

      Yes 100% with you on that dude! Thanks for replying. Any idea what George's beliefs were, concerning the afterlife and God? Just curious if you might have heard somewhere.

    • @wobble108
      @wobble108  9 лет назад +3

      superstrangevideo He was very inquisitive of many things he read Fromm and Jung and I feel kept an open mind. His memoirs are now available in print and on kindle and are a great read it will give you an in site (if you look hard enough) into the great man himself.

      wobble108 Hey thanks for that info. I read somewhere on the IMDB that he was quoted as saying he wanted to play God in a film or something, so I assumed he may have had such a belief.

    the way you have composed this show had definitely an impact on me, it was quite a meteorite hitting my conciseness , the soundtrack is so good , I am not a young scout anymore and yet I like this tune , thanks , by the way George loves this show very much

      Well Gunther im no spring chicken either, the issue with the music is the heavy beat and i cant do anything about that, but i love this track and thought is fitted well to what i was trying to achieve, which was show people he led an incredible life and was a wonderful talented man despite his flaws. I didn't do a voice over as mine would not sound very good and lets face it how can i possible match Georges voice!!!

    The Private Affairs of Bel Ami!!.......
    He knew it was time to go and just went, without a lot of fuss and before he reached the stage when he had no say in the matter.
    He gets my vote, not just for being a bl..dy good actor but for being a flawed but ultimately rather nice human being.

    Please retire and do some more videos! It is such a great way to share your admiration and introduce others to Mr. Sanders. Some simply know him as Shere Khan or Addison DeWitt and don’t realize how multi-faceted he was and your first video gives us so much. It leaves The Crew, and we are guessing others, wanting more.

  • @wobble108
    @wobble108  11 лет назад +2

    thanks. the issue with the sound track was I need something that would go the whole length of the video clips and also I thought would attract a younger audience. I always felt the lyrics very poignant. But I achieved my goal and that is that you now know more about this fascinated man.

  • @wobble108
    @wobble108  13 лет назад +4

    Lots of reading and research. George was beyond saving im afraid, he had been to a psychiatrist shortly before going to spain. Infact i fully understand why he did it... what i dont understand is why his so called friends (and he didnt have many) stood by and watched him slowely crumble without even trying to help him. Zsa Zsa thought she was helping but only made matters worse. He was an amazing human being but like all of us ... he had his flaws and weaknesses.

  • @wobble108
    @wobble108  13 лет назад +3

    There is such a lot to concider with George. The problem with this video was I only had 10mins (the running time of the music) to cover his entire life ... and death, hence some things had to be missed out and of course it depended on what films I had. I wanted to show to people what an incredibly tellented and diverse man he was, not what the studio system had manufactured. It has taken be very nearly a year to produce this 10 minute peice, ill need to retire if im to do any more LOL

  • @origin1860

    wobble108 is absolutely right in all that she says. It is not up to us, and people like TheGingerellas, to decide if taking your own life is a crime. I believe in a loving and merciful God who considers everything before passing judgement. In my heart I know that God has forgiven George and that George's soul is with God and all those who loved George during his time on earth.

  • @rhagedorn

    I like the music ... each his own. I had never heard of Deadmau5 & Kaskade. George Sanders is one of the most fascinating people of all time and steals "All About Eve" from the greatest scene thief of all time, Bette Davis.

    • @wobble108
      @wobble108  10 лет назад +3

      Thanks Rick...George is certainly a most fascinating man and I agree with you on the scene stealing...especially when you can act Olivier off the screen (which he did in Rebecca). Apologies for the other comment from another poster.

  • @wobble108
    @wobble108  13 лет назад +3

    Yes, I was refering to Benitas daughter, and no i have not spoken to her (although I do intend to write) I think its referenced in either Vanderbeets or Aherns book. As for CAD I uncover something new in it everytime i read it. There is a lot of the real George hidden in its pages, and thank god he wrote it.

    Your use of Mr. Sanders’ film clips and photographs to illustrate his life is a truly unique way to pay tribute to an extraordinarily unique man. George's Crew thanks you very much. The Crew certainly agrees that music was an innate part of Mr. Sanders’ soul; however, we missed not seeing any mention of Mr. Sanders’ passion for sailing. Perhaps in the future you will consider a series of videos devoted to this gifted man. There is so much more to explore.

    What is tragic is judging Mr. Sanders’ life and career by his final, painful act. Isn’t it possible to simply celebrate his talent and enjoy the wonderful films left to us?
    The video is a great tribute. Thank you.

  • @wobble108
    @wobble108  13 лет назад +1

    Dear Crew! Well thats one TV show id like to get my hands on. with regards to the CAD facade we have to look at the start of his movie career to the end and see where the studio groomed George into the CAD typecast and where George's influence is added and all the negatives emmerged for the studio. George chose to take the villain route as he thought his career would last longer. The Cad image is only part of his mask.

  • @MsViaggio
    @MsViaggio 13 лет назад +1

    @wobble108
    And your mention of the studio system has led to a debate among The Crew about the Cad façade. While we believe it was created in large part to help protect Mr. Sanders; what part, if any, did the studio system play in its creation?

  • @wobble108
    @wobble108  13 лет назад +1

    I have the sheet music to 'our love is now' Ive never heard it played yet (I need to find someone who can play the piano). I adore 'such is my love' its my favourite off the album. I have read 2 ZZ books and they both say virtually the same things. But I agree with you,about ZZ. I feel Benita and George were made for each other, 2 peas in a pod! She brought out the best in him and him her. She let him be himself without any interference or dramas (like ZZ).

    Thanks for your suggestion. The entire video was set to the time, beat and lyrics (we do still remember him all these years later, and they also reflect (sadly) how he may have been feeling) of the music and best listened to with good headphones as the base is quite heavy. I did pass it by other Sanders admirers before uploading as my taste isnt everyones tast. The music is also embeded within the video itself. . I was intending to use one of his songs but the durations were very short .
