Tyrone Power was one of the most popular heartthrobs of the mid-twentieth century, but his story is significantly more scandalous than you probably realize. Power seduced some of Hollywood's most sought-after leading ladies - and evidently a few of Tinsel Town's most eligible bachelors as well.
He was the third Tyrone Power from a famous acting dynasty that had been active in the entertainment industry as far back as the eighteenth century. His great-granddad, the very first Tyrone Power, was a famous Irish comedian, while his father, known as Tyrone Power Sr., was a massive theater star who eventually transitioned to films.
Tyrone has been called Hollywood's first action star, but even though he was tremendously talented and was dedicated to his craft, his career eventually faltered. He was married three times and it's speculated that his many extramarital affairs may have contributed to the decline of his Hollywood career. If this is true, he really had no one to blame but himself for how things played out for him in the professional arena.

My mother loved Tyrone Power! When he passed away in 1958 (I was 12), she went into mourning. My father was very jealous, so she would express her feelings to only me. I wonder if she ever met up with him in heaven? ❤
I was told by my mother that he was the most attractive man she had ever seen. Your mom undoubtedly met him in heaven. I sincerely hope to meet him after I pass away, and I have no doubt that I will because I adore him so much.
I was 4 at the time but remembered my mom was totally shocked when it happened. He later became of of my favorite movie actors. Who knows what the 1960s & 70s would have brought had he lived.

He is considered to be thee most handsomest man in Hollywood history. He is super gorgeous in his photographs and films. but I have heard they did not do his jaw dropping looks justice. I have heard in person he was literally beautiful. He was born with double thick eyelashes like Elizabeth Talyor, his profile was stunning! He was perfect. I think he was just friends with Errol Flynn and that's all. Tyrone Power wanted desperately to be taken seriously as an actor, but they kept putting him in these action films. I spoke with a lady many moons ago who saw Tyrone Power on stage in person acting. She said it was eye popping what an amazing actor he was when he was away from the studios who would not let him spread his acting wings. Some people who had grandparents and fathers who fought side by side Tyrone Power in World War 2 have said Tyrone was a tough Marine and he risked his life rescuing wounded soldiers bringing them to safety to a helicopter during enemy fire. Robert Evens knew him, and he said Tyrone Power was a man's man. BTW, he loved women big time and he was a womanizer. However, he did have affairs with men as well. So many people have said he was the sweetest man that they have met, and everyone loved him. When he died it was painful becuase he was young.
@@letsbakeitout are you kidding me? There is a photograph taken which the photographer took pictures of all the angles of Tyrone Power's face. Tyrone Power was total perfection becuase he had no bad profile just like Eva Gardner. Another thing, my mother knew a costume designer who worked in Hollywood, and she said pictures, films, etc. didn't do these people from the golden era of Hollywood justice how jaw dropping they were in person. She said we are talking about even without make they were gods and goddesses. However, the actors and actresses today, don't have that real beauty that is something that extraordinary.

though he was only 44 when he died! I also failed to understand how he could have been
a 'sickly' child & then become a Marine pilot in WWII, yet die of a heart attack at only 44!
At 76, I saw him in 4-5 movies, while he was living & always enjoyed his performances! R.I.P.!

Interesting observation. Same dynamics has caught his daughter Romina. Between late 70s and early 90s, she was a sex bomb and I dare to say one of the best yet naturally looking American artists in history. Yet by mid-1990s, around the age of 45, her beauty started dramatically deteriorating.
On a separate note, may Facts Verse consider producing a similar video on Romina? It is astonishing that having achieved such a fabulous success singing with Al Bano to the level that their Felicita is no longer a song but rather a cultural notion known by generations, Romina is not recognised in English-speaking countries. Frankly, I have 30,000 songs in my collection and I genuinely cannot think of any other native British, Canadian or American singer that has recorded in foreign languages (in Power’s case: Italian, Spanish, French) and sell dozens of millions of these records - she is simply a distinctive act that deserves a short video. Not to mention her phenomenal beauty and sex appeal that she emanated during the top of career.

He was a healthy boy no different than other kids. The men in his family have problems with heart related on set at early age. He is an actor that was frustrated with 20th Century Fox for not giving him meaty roles. Zanuck wanted to keep his star in swatch buckling roles. Because of his beautiful looks. Us true fans know the truth about Tyrone. And don't believe one minute about him having extra marital affairs with men. He had no time but made 4 to 5 films in a year. The studio ended in 1950's. The actors had to find their roles on their own. He did exactly what the times call for to find work. He became a sales person on his talent. He went to New York Broadway worked on stage. Then he flew back to the West coast and would acting in films. He purposely took uppers and drank and smoked like a chimney. His 2nd wife had an affair and later married Purdom. Tyrone Power heard and parted ways with her and divorced her. Yes, he then had affairs with women. He was looking for the one to give him a son to carry on the name Power. This was very important to him.
WRONG. His heart attack ended his career.
His bi-sexual lifestyle was a total surprise to me. Always liked his acting..."Witness for the Prosecution," is my favorite.

No way!! His affairs had nothing to do with his affairs as you put it. When he wasn't doing films he was doing famous theater productions. Things ended when he died at age 44. His career obviously stopped at the time of his death. Read up on his whole life before you start a rumors about this wonderful man.
Private life should remain private even though an actor is a public figure. Should just remember how handsome and talented he was.

I have been a fan of his since I was a kid, watching "The Eddy Duchin Story" with my mom. Witness for the Prosecution is one of my all-time favorite films, but I didn't know that Power was bisexual.

I had never been aware of the friendship that existed between Tyrone and Cesar Romero until I ran across some You Tube videos. I don't question that there may have had some sexual element to that relationship, but I get the impression that it was closer to being a close friendship. In other words, it seems to have been more than physical.

One of my earliest childhood loves side by side with Errol Flynn. I love both of them still today no matter the rumors. Paul McCartney came along and immediately stole first place in my heart in the early sixties and so he remains today. The three most beautiful men God ever created.
