Absolutely. The current atmoshere in which people are formed lacks oxygen and thus people, including movie stars, are but carbon copies of themselves, with no breadth of life animating them. There is nothing real or true about them in their private or personal life. They are a reflection of life but not the real thing. I fear there is no returning to when humanity was the ether we breathed and the spirit that we embodied. People do not even understand what "humanity" is. Sophia and Marcello are the embodiment of a profound humanity and hence it's a privilege to witness and feel a part of their very gentle and subtle conversation. After it's over, It lingers like a beautiful perfume.
So nice to see so much humanity in this actors. I feel like now a days most movie stars play the game of fame and we need more people that take the crap out of that and bring us back to earth.

Sharon Newman hey, chill out will you! I was 16-17 when I lived in Rome and went to see these movies. I’m now 72 and definitely haven’t ‘ever’ worshipped any one in my life. But since I’m a film buff, I do respect certain directors some actors cinematographers etc simply for the work they do.
I think when Marcello is speaking about his nose, when Sophia stops him with the hand to say "stop there" at 7:46, he meant to say what is usually said here in Italy: "short nose means you have a short dick". You can hear him beginning to say "short nose means.." and then Sophia stops him while laughing ahaha
I admire Marcello for being able to communicate in english the way he did, so confidently, even though it wasn't perfect. I'm always so nervous speaking spanish, even though I speak it fairly well. I will try to channel him the next time I'm feeling nervous speaking to a native speaker.

What a fabulous interview! Two extraordinarily gifted actors who are equally gorgeous-looking human beings. I had to laugh when Marcello said Fellini called Newman too handsome, whereas Mastrioni was " normal. " I would disagree. Marcello is beautiful!

You can look it up, but Dick Cavett has had the greatest interviews of all time. The people he has gotten on the show are amazing. And, that was a day when people came on in a talk show without promoting something.
