    Thank you SO MUCH for this video...I have looked "everywhere" to get information about how to cut back, re-root, and propagate one of these in my back yard...it was already here when I moved in. I now feel confident to try your experiment. I'm in Rockport, so this one lives in the yard, but it needs some attention. Thanks again! : ) Best to you all!

    I live in Tampa FL moved from the North East and these plants grow up tp six feet tall out doors peoplehere tend to take them for granted and just chop them off at the trunk and dispose of them leaving them at the curb. I have taken a few home and like a cut flower re-ut the base on an angle used my pole digger ( yes that big base 4 inchs) and just planted the lush plant ...as simple as that. At first the lower steams yellowed and fell off other than that well watered re-rooted and flourished. 🪴

All these years it’s been in in winter out in spring and we are getting to old to keep this up😂😂 So if I have no success with the bottom plant coming back ( which I think it will tough old guy)I will root the top truck section that I lopped off. It’s a survivor and hardy like we are at 80, so we’ll see how it goes!! 🎉

    I’m still watching and not even halfway but this is my exact issue. I got this plant from the funeral home when my dad passed in September 2022. They said it’s 30yrs old and it had 3 dead root areas and one that has a living “trunk” thing that like yours got skinny the lower it gets. I tried to repot it as it was root bound but since I have, 2 of the 6 leaves are turning yellow (probably shock) and it has a shoot that’s been there and hasn’t changed or grown or died for that matter the whole time we’ve had him. I had no idea about cutting the roots or propagating it or anything and I’m terrified to screw it up! Hoping your video shows good results! I need help!

    • @TheChickenCoopHomestead
      @TheChickenCoopHomestead  Год назад

      Oh, I know that’s hard and you have an emotional attachment to that plant! I didn’t have that so it was an easier decision for me to whack it off. Mine did survive the process. Maybe by doing that and being able to give it a new repot will good soul it will flourish. Let me know how it goes. 🪴👩🏼‍🌾

    Like you, I searched far and wide for info on this bad boy. I have one just like it.
    Now, Snowmageddon damaged it...I don't know if I should cut those trunks back. ( Also live in Texas)
    So....what happened to yours?
    I have read that you can cut the live trunks back where there are live aerial roots and plant and propogate...but if the leaves die sprouting from them...that trunk will never sprout again and will wither in time.
    Since mine died on top...I don't know if I should cut the trunks back, as the aerial roots are dead too.
    But, lol and behold it's sprouting from the base of the trunk....like a miracle.
    Should I leave the trunk?
    What happened with your experiment?
