To save time, cut your circle bigger than the measurement she suggested and just sew the casing for your elastic around the circle. This will eliminate the need for cutting the 60 inch strip too. I make satin hssir bonnets and this is how I construct the bonnets. Hope this helps!
I work in the OR of a Pediatric Hospital. The kids absolutely LOVE our colorful hats, but no one makes this style any more! Thank you for making a quick and easy way for me to be in compliance and to make our kids smile!
This was so amazingly helpful. I am a veterinary technician and the veterinary field has really taken a hit during COVID. We are having a very had time getting PPE. Your tutorial helped me to make enough surgical caps for all my surgery techs!!!!
Thank you for helping me give back to the first responders. I make weighted blankets, scrub hats, masks for our first line warriors and our community. Your tutorials make sewing easier and more fun. Thank you. Hugs
Hi meg. I was scrolling through my phone and i saw ur diy scrub cap and you have done a fantastic work. I did sew one like that for my daughter who is a nurse. Keep up the great job sewing. Thank you and god bless.
Thank you SEW much for this!! My dear friend, an ER nurse on the frontlines in Colorado, recently requested a surgical hat to support my new small sewing business started because of pandemic. Of course I’m going to gift them to her, I have a former medical background, because I know the need for them. Thanks for making it SEW simple to follow, your voice is perfect for videos and you were straightforward, precise and to the point. Stay safe, stay healthy!
I’m new in sewing, started about 2 weeks ago after a month into knee surgery recovery and I find your tutorial very helpful, easy to follow. I also bought a singer machine after watching your other video. Thank you!!!
I love your Tutorial! I've sewn some Bouffants and given them to my fellow co-Nurses as part of Team-player Recognition gift. your instructions are easy to follow. Thank you so much.
Meghan, what an awesome tutorial, best one yet. I wear these caps when I’m cooking, taking a shower or visiting the water. Sometimes, I sleep in them. I’m a beginner at sewing and just want to make everything, although limited on talent, I still plug along and enjoy every minute. Meghan, you are CAPITAL !! Thanks for sharing !!
That is so cool, my Mom used to sew all the time. I learned to do finger work on all of the clothes she made of 3 girls. I miss her so much. Thanks for this tut.
I love the tutorial! It was very simple and easy. I’m an OR nurse and these are great to have. I will make some of these for myself and other nurses. Thank you!
Hi Cynthia...thank you for being apart of our front lines and being a member of the Meghan Grace DIY Tribe! You have been randomly selected as a winner of the 3,333 subs contest for a free custom made mask and key chain holder! Please email me at MeghanGraceDIY at gmail.com for the details!
I found really easy to make it. I am learning to saw things for myself and help others at my work. Thank you very much to help to do this and help the hat to stay in place. I love it.
This pattern is so simple, thank you for sharing. I'm an ophthalmology nurse and this is exactly what I've been looking for. I've been making fabric masks and have used some of your videos as guides. Great job!
I just finish one of this cap, thank you for the instruction. You make it look so easy. I am emailing you a picture. I did a little change by using a different color for the band.
I am a beginner, I start making surgical cap for my co workers . Because of the Covid- 19. Will try to make this one. It seems easier than some others I see. Will let you know how it turns out.
Awesome tutorial. I do have 1 question? The strip that was sewn around the hat did you sew it twice around? I thought I saw a zigzag stitch the 2nd time.
Of course! I do the marks on the fabric since most people don’t have on hand a paper large enough and I try to make the videos as easy/with little supplies as possible
I like this style of bouffant surgical hat. However, I believe this size (20 in circle) may be small for me. How many many inches would I need for the XL? Thanks 😊
Definitely! You would use a water proof fabric for the outside and then a cotton for the casing. I found one tutorial recommending you line the inside with satin but that makes me nervous about it growing mold of not properly dried out. I have recently become familiar with shower caps because I have to shower warm but wash my hair on cold to keep the pink color vibrant! It was rough at first but I am getting used to it!
What I would recommend is cutting the circle as big as the 17inch width will let you. Then use the left over fabric to make the widest band you can that will still go all the way around the circle. You won’t need the full 60 in since the circumference will be smaller. If you can get a 3 inch wide strip to go all the way around I think you can make it work. But it depends on if the person you are making it for has an averaged size head or bigger then average. Anything above average (22-24in) may not fit with the fabric you have. Another idea would be to use a different fabric for the band around the edge to give your self more room!

Thanks for the tips☺️
It won’t be so easy for cotton fabric. Satin is easier to stretch a little. I use a different color band and it’s nice.
A big shout out to all health workers that can sew , we’re all be thankful for this easy tutorial, thank you Megan

Your welcome!
❤️
Thanks for the video.
Can i make a paper pattern and use it for cutting instead of drawing markings on the fabric?
Of course! I do the marks on the fabric since most people don’t have on hand a paper large enough and I try to make the videos as easy/with little supplies as possible
I like this style of bouffant surgical hat. However, I believe this size (20 in circle) may be small for me. How many many inches would I need for the XL? Thanks 😊
Try adding an inch at a time. And then make a muslin mock-up to check to fit if you can!
Hi maam, is that a small or medium size?
I would call this medium, since it’s baggy it fits many different sized heads!
Tell the mesure of elastic that you taken.
I’m learning how to make them for my granddaughter she has luekemia
God bless - I hope your granddaughter gets better soon ❤️
Meghan Grace DIY thank u 🥰
Most easiest cap
Thank you!
What is the length of the elastic
It depends on the size of your head but between 21-23 inches
Question could these instructions be used to make a shower cap and what kind of material is needed to make a shower cap?
@@MeghanGraceDIY do you know of any waterproof fabric?
Hi I have a 17in x 20in piece of material how can I make this work with that?
What I would recommend is cutting the circle as big as the 17inch width will let you. Then use the left over fabric to make the widest band you can that will still go all the way around the circle. What is the width of the elastic
For these I like 1/2
