I think you did a great job. But, Indo have a question why didn’t you use a fusible material for the inside of the cap? I was just wondering…thanks for sharing 👍👍👍
Question: making this for my Granddaughter. She wants Peanuts fabric. It's a series of comic strips. I cut both pieces off the same fold. I THINK I needed to cut the larger piece from an opposite food. The pinned side of the crown, which, on the reverse side faces me (is readable to me), is currently pinned to the long piece and the comic is upside down. I THINK, they should be both facing me. Any advice? I realize I could sew it up and see, but I'm trying to do this quickly. Thanks for any help! Cindy
Hi Meghan, I appreciate what you said about learning by mistakes but......I have tried to "ease "in the 2 pieces multiple times with about 1.5" extra on the crown piece every time? I finally basted a running stitch around the edge to slightly gather the crown rim and then sew to the outside of the cap. This worked ok and the cap was definitely usable. I am not a beginner sewer--I'm just curious what exactly I'm doing wrong here. Any ideas??? In the video I don't really see you gathering the crown piece at all?? Thanks Beryl

Thank you for a lovely and simple tutorial! Quick question/observation: could the back of the top piece and the band piece be extended a bit to be able to fold and encase the elastic strip?
Hi! I absolutely loved your video of the easiest bouffant scrub cap, but I modified it to accomodate larger heads. How can I make this pattern of the Simple Fitted Scrub cap a little bigger?
Hey Meghan! Thank you so much for this tutorial it was very easy to follow. I only have one hiccup that maybe u can help me with. I printed the fabric and I cut them exactly how u did but I feel that when I pin it I have too much tail from the fabric for the head section. Should it line up perfect with her outer fabric What am I doing wrong ? I wish I could show a picture.
This tutorial is great but I am not able to print the pattern pieces out. The cap pattern comes out too small and I cannot increase the scale of it and I cannot even get the side pattern to come up. Can this pattern be emailed to me? Please. My dental office is asking for scrub caps!
Unfortunately I don’t - I’m opening a show on Friday (I know it’s crazy that my school is still doing live shows) but what I want to work on over our Xmas break is a website with the patterns and written directions. I wish I could create a 36 hour day but I’m sure I would still run out of time!!
I made the cap - your directions were. Very helpful however it was too small for the person I was making it. Can u please suggest different dimensions for a larger cap?
Sure! Was it really small or just a bit too tight? I suggest increasing the radius of the circle by an inch but keep the measurements for the squares cut from the bottom the same. You can also increase the length of the elastic in the back from 6” to 7”.
Meghan Grace DIY it was a bit tight because it sat in top of his head rather than coming around his head & resting above the ears I’ll try one inch more but forgive me I’m a beginner which piece left or right ? & where would the one inch be increased? Thanks again for your help
Sure - it works on MOST computer systems but unless you have Acrobat its not going to work. Shoot me an email at my channel name at gmail.com I would be happy to send you a pattern!
Hi, was wondering where is the measurements for the pattern you used? Where is the description box? Sorry, I’m new here. Thanks in advance! Very nice scrub cap
I made 2 with your pattern and my friend loved them. I have other healthcare friends who are asking me for some. How do I adjust the pattern for a larger cap? Thank you sew much!
Love the pun 😉. If you need it to be bigger for more hair I would extend the circle to have a 10 in diameter vs 9 inch. If it’s right around the head, you can make the 6inch elastic in the back 7inches or add an inch to the brim in the front. If you add length to the front band, you can skip the last pleat on each end to accommodate. Hope that helps!!
Thank you! I’ll prolly do a video on it sometime soon but my biggest personal accomplishment of 2020 (even though it’s been a rough year thus far) is I finally stopped biting my nails after 34 years! It’s the first time in my life I’ve had long natural nails and I’m super proud of myself! So those little comments mean extra to me because it was a big person mountain to over come 🙂
I'm sorry but I had nothing but issues with this entire project. I printed the stencils twice because I thought I messed up and they don't line up, the top part was about 2 inches longer than the sides. Are tou supposed to make 2 24" pieces for the ties or one and cut it in half? It was no specified in the instructions..Then trying to roll the hem on the side was a nitemare and I gave up.. really did not enjoy this project.
When I pin the top piece with the side piece, it never ends up even at the back. There is easily 1” left on one side. Should I just cut that piece off? I aligned my centers and yet it’s still uneven. It looks like your are as well, but you didn’t address what to do about it.
Susan Metz it could be that because the top part is curved you might be pulling the side piece a bit too straight. I would try sewing it and do not cut off the extra and see if it comes out even

Hi Meghan ! I would like to try sewing simple fitted scrub cap. But I want to try the pattern you made. Is there any way, you can send me a copy of the free pattern please? looking forward for your reply. thank you!
I see someone eles had same question. Some 6"tie goes on each side the cap. If possible can you make pattern for 6" and 2"wide pattern. I have a hard time small pieces.
The ties should end up being 12 inches long. I have you make a 24in piece so you can sew it all at once then cut it in half, one for each side. I can definitely make a guide, but you would need to extend it as regular printer paper is 8.5 by 11in so the piece would be too long to fit - but I will make a guide of different sizes and put it up later today!
This is only from personal experience....but I have measured ALOT of heads as it’s on my measurement sheet I collect from actors at the beginning of the show process. 90% of people tend to be between 22 and 24in around. It’s become funny to me because half of the people I measure will come up to me and say “I know I have a big head!!” And I’ll measure and they will be a solid 23 in which to me is average. If you measure at a 25 then you’ve got a head that is slightly bigger then normal. It’s usually only a problem when finding men’s hats big enough. If you measure at 21 then your head is more petite. Again this isn’t an official measurement but just what I’ve noticed over time!

You sew one 24 inch tie, then cut it in half so you end up with two 12 inch ties, one for each side of the elastic. I hope that clarifies things!

What is the average head size that you are referring to?
