    I am getting ready to go out to work in south Dakota and I bought three caps to keep my hair up , but wanted more choices of cute fabric. I have lots in my stash , so i might take my sewing machine and make some out there if I have any time. This looks even better than what I bought, as it's not quite as much fabric in the cap and I think it will work great. Thanks for posting this Meghan.

    I love this hat. I've made 3 so far and they fit me great but my hair is kind of thin. I don't know if it could hold a lot of thick hair. With my last hat I tried french seams on the corners instead of the zig zag stitch to make it look more professional as I do not own a serger. Turned out really nice. I also do a rolled hem at the bottom of the cap which nicely keeps the ends encased as I am washing these caps frequently and I want to keep the ends from fraying. I will be making more for my coworkers in the COVID ICU! Thanks for the awesome tutorial.

    • @amyjackson5604
      @amyjackson5604 3 года назад

      After a long weekend of trial and error, I have came up with larger measurements. First a made a new measurement of the BRIM: 65.1 mm x 243mm and 1/2 inch. Sorry about the mix match measurements, I only had that showed mm. Once the New brim is made. Then make a 23 1/2 x 23 1/2 inch square. FOLLOW ALL HER INSTRUCTIONS, just change out the measurements. You should make a 11 1/2 inch circle. Cut the circle once folded with 7inches, then 5.5 inches and then draw the remaining line to form the midar corner. Then follow the rest of the steps, it will work.
      If you really have long hair try this measurement, just use the same brim size. Cut an 24 1/2 x 24 1/2 inch square. You will cut a 12 inch circle. Cut the circle once folded with 7inches, then 5.5 inches and then draw the remaining line to form the midar corner. If you dont have enough slack allowance to make the casing for the elastic, cut the midar corners at 7 1/2 inch, 6 inches then draw the remaining line to finish the midar corner. (I tried this but I resulted in way too much slack, Still works but have excess fabric) Then follow the rest of the steps, it will work. Hope this helps.

    I’m so happy I found this tutorial! My sister is a nurse and she has been wanting one of these and I’m going to surprise her by making one!

    Thank you for your tutorial . I worked in the ICU and really need a better design. This one fits well. I want to give you a photo of what I made.

    I've made some and they are amazing. Thanks so much. If I need one a bit bigger how would I do that?

      I would increase the circle by an inch all the way around but keep the front band the same. Then add an extra pleat on each side - it should be pretty close to fitting in the band.

      Thanks so much! Do I need to increase to a 20x20 PC starting out then? Same for cut outs? 5.5 inches then up 4" and across 3" to make the "mushroom"?

      Cinda Gildenhorn yup exactly keep the cut outs at the bottom the same
