I do the cutting and my wife does the sewing. She is up to 175 hats in the past 3 weeks for our local hospital. Thank you for the easy pattern (from my wife!). Before that my wife made over 700 masks. I am so proud of her work.
Thank you for the tutorial, My wife has just lost her hair due to chemo for breast cancer, she loves sewing and this has helped her take control of the hair loss and a project to keep her mind occupied. She played with the dimensions slightly to get a best fit and used slightly wider ties to make a feature of the bow and padded out the “gather” with bundle of muslin.
Put silk fabric to the inside, and you have yourself a great sleeping cap for those of us girls with curly or ethnic hair. Great pattern! Thank you SO much for sharing!
I was just told a good friend has cancer. I saw this demo a long time ago and remembered it. I am going to make her some for her long journey with treatment. Thank you so much. You always explain everything so clearly,
Thank you for sharing so many wonderful ideas, patterns, and tips! For those who need to see supplies written out, like me, it sounds like the pattern requires: Two 18 x 22 inch rectangles of main fabric(s) One 2.5 x 45 inch fabric strip (or 2- 2.5 x 22.5 inch fabric strips) One 8 inch piece of elastic :)
As I watched this video I imagined that these caps would be welcomed by women who may have cancer and have lost their hair. How pretty to make them with bright and colorful prints. I appreciated the fact that you could simply fold the cap and make a cuff. So many uses for a simple pattern. Thanks!
We would really appreciate them. I used to have a head of beautiful long thick silky hair. Not anymore thanks to ibrance. But hey, it is keeping me alive. (Well GOD is but let’s keep going for now.) Not only hair loss from Chemo but hair loss, thinning, or change due to a number of factors: chemo, CDK inhibitors, loss of estrogen in CA pts from treatment, aromatase inhibitors, alopecia (immune system attacks hair follicles and kills them), trauma, anxiety (hair pulling), etc...can you tell i was a RN before MBCA (metastatic [this means stage 4, the last stage] breast cancer)? Don’t forget the kiddos! Can this pattern be downsized for the kids?
@@caroldean4417 Hello Carol. So you're telling me that you have breast cancer? I'm sorry to hear this. Prayers are heading your way. God bless you and give you strength during this time.
Exactly so! I saw this tutorial and thought, "How timely", as my hair has just begun to fall out from chemo. (for Rectal cancer) I'm finishing up my cap now. Thank you, Laura of Sew Very Easy, for teaching me to make a simple yet pretty cap to don my quickly balding head. 😃
Exactly! I wonder if the back of the cap will get pressed down against a carseat headrest or something and make it obvious that there's no hair there, or if I'm overthinking this.
Just finished! Piece of cake! Off to my granddaughter tomorrow by USPS. She’s a first year nurse in South Jersey and is assigned to their Covid patients. She’s getting a real trial by fire! She requested these and I’m not a clothing sewist. This is about the 5th pattern I’ve tried and it’s perfect! Thank you for this.
Susanne Bell I don’t really know how to sew at all. I’m a dental hygienist and I want these for when I go back. I’m going to give this one a whirl and your comment gave me some confidence. Fingers crossed! Really wishing I could just have someone do it for me lol
@@presidentelecthygienius562 you can do it!!! honest. she gives such clear instructions that it will be surprisingly easy.. if you are not sure of your machine skills there are lots of you tubes on how to sew and you can always ask here
Shine J They are looking for influencers. I am not one. I don’t use Facebook and my Instagram is minuscule. I am just an RN who could really use one or a few. 😐
If anything good could be said of COVID-19 (and I realize that's a somewhat controversial thing to say), it's that it has created a renaissance for skills like sewing, and highlighted the great value of creativity and of self-sufficiency.
a lot of us have been sewing all along (thats how i found this lady) its also how so many already had stashes of fabric for mask making. but now more people are re-finding or are learning this fun and useful skill
I'm a nurse and my hair is very long. I have made 5 already and I love them. My hair will stay clean and my ears will be warm during my cold night shifts. Thank you so much!
Seamstresses from church are making these, again. Last year we learned nurses love these made of Xmas cloth! They’ve also requested some youth sizes for youngsters having surgery! Thank you, Laura!
Thank you Laura for this great pattern and clear instructions (as always!). I live in Dublin, Ireland, I'm 77 and the 70's and over cohort has been restricted from going outside of our apartment/house for many weeks. I always wear my hair short but now it's difficult to know what to call it - "forked lightening" springs to mind :-) I have lots of fabric so I think I'll give this a whirl. I have to say that I was moved by so many of the comments and the spirit of everyone. I send you all my best wishes and prayers. God bless and stay safe.
The pattern is doable. I am planning to make some hats/caps for my friends and churchmates who are undergoing chemo. My sewing machine just arrived and i happened to came accross your video and i think i can do it. Your video is very clear. Thanks for sharing your talent. GOD BLESS.
Currently undergoing chemo, with hair loss. I still wear a mask as I am immune compromised and recently found mask elastic irritates my ears. Found a pattern for a head band with buttons but need a hat to hide hair loss. It’s getting too warm for knitted hats and am so glad I found this so easy way of meeting my needs. Thank you.
I hope you have already run that bell and are on the way to full recovery, Tsunamis! I will keep you in my heart and wish you the very best through this stage. My daughter successfully battled stomach cancer and faced down opioid addiction due to the process. I can already picture your name being added to the long list of those success stories. Big hugs and best wishes.
Thank you so much. I'm an ER nurse and have been making these caps for my colleagues on my days off and evenings after work. It's been a nice and easy relaxing activity. I've made 8 of them so far using Kaffe Fassett collection fabric.
I wished I had seen this video when I was going through my breast cancer treatment. The simplicity of making it is great, you don't need to be great at sewing! Thank you. I will be sharing this and making them for people who need them.
This is such a splendid way to cover the head. I have alopecia and can see how I could wear this and still feel covered well and look stylish at the same time. Also I would choose coordinating fabric and make it double sided. I will make the ties wider too....that way I can tie it while giving it a turban look. Thank you so much for caring by sharing.🥰
I'm thrilled to try this pattern. My daughter is a nurse and I've been making masks for her and her coworkers. This will be a great addition. God Bless you!
I am a nurse and wear caps at work while I care for covid-19 patients. I found this easy to put together and I can make it in any color or fabric I need to match my scrubs. I had a hard time finding one that could fit my long hair up into it. Thank you.
I just rediscovered this video and in perfect time. I started taking water exercise classes and the swim caps available give me a horrible headache. This will be perfect to keep my long hair out of the way. Thank you. Love your tutorials.
@Angela H. I agree with you, the design and instructions are so easy to follow and they're pretty quick to make. I made my first one tonight & am super happy with it.
I know! I made one with a circle I had to pin into a band and it was beautiful but so exhausting I have the second one I cut out in my UFO pile likely never to be touched again. I mean I did make it out of satin and chiffon so it was like I was asking for frustration lol
Laura,, must say you look good in anything,,, I just love watching you what ever it is you make,,, these are so useful in many different ways,, Thank you for yet another clear instructed totorial,, and I'll be making these to help our NHS,,, xx
I have been so taken with the simplicity of you cap or hat, I just wanted to share that I have gone through my fabric stash and cut about 100 hats to make for our local cancer care centre in Newmarket, Ontario. The pattern was was so very easy, it actually made sense to put 2 units together and make one hat. Kudos to you for sharing your video with hands on instructions for sewers and wanna bees.
I am a dental hygienist and have made the decision to wear a cap when I am able to go back to work (Covid-19). This was my very 1st sewing project ever as I just received my 1st sewing machine last week. This tutorial was great and the project was simple. I will be making more of these caps and will share this tutorial with my colleagues. Thank you so much!
I found your video after my daughter asked me to make a few scrub caps for her. I first found several patterns requiring fancy measurements and adjustments, then came across your fantastic, clear, easy to follow explanation. I was able to make six caps in no time, and now her colleagues at the hospital are envious and have asked for the pattern! Thank you so, so much!
This pattern is so easy. My sewing group here in San Diego are donating caps and this pattern was just recently pressed into place and has been well received by the sewers and recipients! My group donates scrub caps to hospitals and clinics. Thank you for sharing this pattern and allowing us to do some good in our communities.
I wanted to say a big “THANK YOU” for this video. Love your style of plain, precise instruction. My daughters are both nurses. I showed them this video and am now full time sewing this scrub cap. They went through my material stash and made stacks of what they want! Now to get busy! Thank you again!
Thank you!!! I have made 10 of these for nurses in the COVID floor at a local hospital. One is my daughter-in-law. She said they are so much more comfortable than the paper ones supplied to them. I'm pulling more fabric from my stash to make more!
What a great easy pattern, I have no printer at home and just about every pattern I have seen requires printing,.Thank you! I can now make hats to go with my scrub shirts for Rona Scrubs here in Australia
I love this scrub cap. Our first born daughter is a nurse and I will be sending her a box load of these caps to keep or to share. Thank you so much for sharing your time and talent with us.
I have lost my hair due to chemotherapy, and sewed myself a Christmas cap which cheered me up no end. Will sew more for the other days of the year! Thank you Laura, for the lovely, easy-to-follow instructions even for a novice like me. PS it's better than any of the caps I have bought online.
I wish you the best on your journey through chemotherapy. My daughter successfully battled stomach cancer and opioid addiction. I'll be keeping you in my heart and believe you will have the same success, Angelina. BIG VIRTUAL HUGS!
Thank you for the tutorial on this all-purpose cap. I have made two of them and plan on making more. I absolutely love them. I was intimidated by the curve at the bottom so I used a saucer to make a mark so that I could cut an even line.
Thank you for the fast tutorial! This cap appears much easier to make than the other ones; which I did make with matching masks for hospital workers on the Navajo Nation. I sure appreciate your talent. THANK YOU again. I will give it a try this weekend. Many blessings!
I've been sewing facemasks for former students in the medical profession, family, friends and my husband's employees. One of my students asked if I would sew scrub caps for her and sent me your video. I laughed and told her I had been watching your videos for a long time. Thanks for the video and easy method! 🧵🧵🧵🥰
Wanted to add my THANKS ,as well, for a simple pattern that is so easy to do. I made 5 in one night for my daughter who is an OR nurse. She loved them and said her ears didn't hurt wearing them all day. Wish I saw this pattern 2 years ago when I was going through chemotherapy. I would have loved wearing these after I lost all my hair. Thank you again for sharing.
Hi Laura. I've been making your caps for months now. I am a dental hygienist and they have been so easy to make for work. I taught myself to sew this summer starting with face masks. These caps are wonderful for a beginner to make. Thank you for sharing.
My daughter just got her first job in a restaurant and the owners told her she needed to bring her own "chef's cap" to keep her hair up and out of the way (they only provide hair nets.) So happy to find this video with a familiar face (I also made drawstring pouches from another one of your videos!) This was so much easier to follow than the PDF patterns I downloaded, and fun to sew! My daughter wore it to work and now every one of her female co-workers wants one, so I am making a half dozen more to coordinate with the restaurant's colors/logo!
This is an outstanding pattern. Love it! Thank you! My tip for a 3/4 seam is that I keep a large rubber band to put on my machine's bed to where I want it.
@@deepattison9329 , does the masking tape leave a sticky residue? I have seen plenty of videos with it being used, is there a preferred type of tape to use? I'm trying to tame my new overlocker (serger) & this sounds like a good way to mark out seam allowances. Thank You :)
Nicarey 71 You can use blue painters tape or this is what I’ve been using for years-“Sewing Edge - Reusable Vinyl Stops for Your Machine: 5 Strips Quilt with Marci Baker”. It’s on Amazon for about $10.00. I only use 1 strip a year so it’s worth it! & it really helps my seams to be the perfect 1/4” 🙂 🧵
I made one of these for around the house a few years ago but now my friend who is going thru chemo loves it so it’s time to make more! I’m not great at sewing but your video makes it sew easy! It’s not to fast and you explain everything so well! Thank you!
Thank you so much! I am an healthcare worker that works in pre-operative department and made a few of these caps, and got so many compliments from my co-workers and patients asking where I brought it lol. I told them I made it, and now I got to make 20 of these caps. Thanks again.
Love all your videos ,your voice is calming, & your directions are wonderful without having to watch you sewing. You just give clear instructions. Thank you!!!!
I am deaf I watched 1st video with your blue scrubs but I failed.. but other 2nd videos I catched this 2nd... Oh Behold, now I understand what I was missing the parts. I was sewing and trying to put on my head but failed. Sad. I gave up. Few days I was watched 2 part of videos and watched again with captions. Ohhh ohh I missed parts. Smh. I tried to cut the fabrics.... then waited to video again. I got it about curve.....then sewing all curves around not bottom.. now I understand today FINALLLLLLLLY. Perfect on my head. Yeeeeeess Beautiful instructions are simple understand!! God bless you Guess what I cut more color fabrics today . Oh I love it l. Looooooove it.
I ve made several of these caps for my hospital job and have had so many compliments. Thank you for sharing this video. Very simple to make. I had to shorten my elastic to 7 ". They came out so cute.
Thank you so much!! I've been losing my hair and decided yesterday to shave it off and wear scarves. Today I found your video and now I am off to my sewing room to follow your wonderful easy to watch tutorial . Bless you for sharing x
I'm just going to say it: You are amazing! I thought your scrunchie pattern was super clever and now this is just over the top. I can't wait to start making these. Thank you!!!!
I appreciate this tutorial so much. You're an excellent teacher. I'm new to sewing and was able to follow easily. You were clear in your choice of wording and your hand gestures reinforced what you were verbalizing. Thank you!
I have made TONS AND TONS of these awesome hats. for cancer patients, for my co workers " nurses" and just because they are great for a bad hair day. THANK YOU LAURA.
Laura, I have been making different scrub cap patterns over the past 9 months trying to find the best one for long hair and I have to say that yours is the absolute best I have found! You are so thorough and have the best step by step instructions without adding a ton of dialogue that is not needed. You have a very soothing voice that is so easy to listen to, makes me feel calm and confident that I can do it. I am making them for my daughter who is an OR nurse and she loves them. Only thing is they have to wear a disposable cap over their cloth scrub caps so it can get pretty warm some days and she asked if they was a way to adapt the pattern to only 1 layer of fabric. I have no idea if that would work and really would appreciate any guidance or advice you can share. Thank you so much for sharing your talent and making this a free pattern we can all use.
@@deirdreboertien1282 there is another way of doing it that I think you will enjoy. Cut a three inch piece the same shape as that bottom curve. One Edge will be sewn on and then you will turn it to the right side. The other Edge you just need to tuck in making a small seam allowance and top stitch that down. That little area you'll be able to put elastic in. I hope this makes sense and I hope it helps
yes yes yes! ive been wearing my crochet hats to cover a bad haircut this winter but summer will come and these cloth caps will be cute (and compliment out masks) for warmer weather. everybody be well.🙋
That's what I'm looking for. Something to cover this mess of hair until I can get to my hairstylist. And to keep me from hacking at it or pulling it out!
Oh me too. I can't wear headbands because they give me headaches. I saw this and thought would be good for anyone wanting to cover their hair. I am going to ask my sister who is an RN is she would like some
Oh, my goodness! I will be sure to pass this great pattern on to my quilting friends. You are an incredible instructor and I very much enjoy watching all that you do. Thank you & stay safe! pj!
Hats off to you for letting your tutorial be free to those that would want to help with the hospitals that could use them like the many masks that are needed, thank you. In His Grace Lorisa
I am not a great sewer at all, but I made 2 very quickly and they both look great. For a kid's size, I tried 18 inches (long side) x 15 inches short side with the ties being 18 inches. The cap part actually fits me because I have a small head and thin-ish hair, so I might try this size for myself but with the same 22 inches ties... for those of you who find the standard size too bulky. Also, you are amazing, Laura. I am like others. I could listen to your voice all day even if I wasn't sewing. I think people gravitate to the kindness that comes through, which is some feat across the internet! I am very inspired to start sewing again. I used to, but then I was with someone who wouldn't let me leave any of my things anywhere (literally, I couldn't even put my purse down by the door) and sewing takes up space and projects sometimes take days, so it feels really, really good to be doing this again and finding success in a simple project. Thank you.
Laura, thank you so much for this cute, easy to sew pattern. I sewed this today, and will wear it to work Monday! Your instructions were crystal clear!
Thank you Laura, for the very easy scrub hat pattern!! I made some for the nurses at the Outpatient Surgery close by. Then I started making them for ladies going through chemotherapy and have lost their hair. I think this is a new audience for you to touch on!! The ladies feel so good putting them on other than a purchased turban!! Your gentle, kind voice is such a blessing. Bless you and your patterns!! Barbara Hasara Aug 1, 2021
I wish I could post a picture of my completed cap! I'm so very pleased with how it turned out. Let me add that I'm not very proficient with my sewing machine skills, but I was able to do this anyway. Thank you!
I was making some surgical caps for my daughter but was not pleased with the original pattern. Then I saw this video. This has by far been the simplest, quickest and most fashionable cap I have seen. I love the style and it is very functional, pretty and very complimentary.
I saw this post in July and thought i'd give it a try.... You have since become my Guru! I have sewn >20 of these, a few i gave out but most of them I wear to work! I am a critical care nurse and I thank you so much!
I love it! What a great pattern & definitely great instructions! Thank you so much! All my 1/4 in. elastic went into making face masks but I do have 1/2 in. What a great bonnet to throw on when you have to run to the store quick AND I can pair it with a matching face mask. New fashion trend! 😀 Thank you again! You are keeping us inspired & busy! 💗
LaRae, I hope you don't mind my responding to your comment. I made a couple of old fashioned prairie bonnets a year ago, and when we needed masks this year I used leftover fabric from those bonnets. So I have been wearing my puffy prairie bonnets with matching masks and having a good time doing my grocery shopping!
I made a scrub cap and used binding tape instead of making the straps . I have been wearing this cap all the time! It is so comfortable, versatile, and cheerful. Thank you for the tutorial
Cut up pantyhose makes a good elastic as well. just make the stripes wider, when you stretch them they get smaller and then nothing will fray. they are quite elastic - not as much as the bought ribbons, but quite good. and the waist bands are very elastic.
I made a dozen of these hats last year for the RN's in my life. Today, I made one for me. My hair is shedding from having Covid in December. Thank you so much for this tutorial.
Really love this pattern! Very forgiving for a newbie. My hat turned out super cute. Might need to make mine a little bigger. I have a lot of hair. Edit: I increased to front edge to 19 inches and the length to 30 inches. Much better length for my long thick hair.
I just made 4 of these for a friend that has lost her hair due to her chemo treatments. She loved them because of the elastic in the ties. She had purchased a few that were supposed to be "one size fits all" but didn't fit her little head. Thank you for such a great, easy to follow tutorial. Much appreciated! (I've made a bunch of scrunchies thanks to you, too!)
I find I like a slightly longer tie so here is what i did. I bought two contrasting fat quarters that coordinated with the fat quarters used to make the scrub caps. I cut off 4 or 5 inches from the bottom edge of the darkest fat quarter , then I join right sides together and stitch a 1/4 inch seam across. I pressed the seam to the darkest side of the fabric. Then with my rotary cutter and ruler I cut down 2 and 1/2 inch wide tie strips from top to bottom and sew them together as instructed. I can get three sets of ties ummm maybe four sets .Mix it up . I have learned sew much from your tutorials and this is one of the best ones ever.
I.Love.This.Tutorial. If you do assembly line style, these go so fast. I’ve noticed the thinner the elastic the less bunch the back will be. This is everything I’ve been looking for in a pattern, which is not a pattern.
Omg THANK YOU!!! I’m an ER nurse and this pattern is so easy!!! I’m going to make a few on my day off. I tried the other patterns with the ponytail holder and they look strange and I wasted a lot of fabric which is so hard to find now. Thanks!!🤗🤗🤗🤗.
Laura, I wish, I’d had this, when I lost my hair, due to breast cancer. Wigs can get, so hot and uncomfortable. I think, I’ll make some, for bad hair days, now. Thanks!
Hi work in a hospital. I made one for my mom as a chemo cap and one for myself as a surgeon cap and wear it to hospital with a matching mask everyday... It was appreciated by so many. Thanks
Dear Laura, I have made about 15 hats for myself and my co-workers at a nursing home in Ontario. Everyone I have given it are THRILLED as we all agree this hat fits and looks the best. I sometimes put ribbons in them too to make it sexier. Lol THANK YOU SOOO MUCH for making this so easy for us.
Love this! Thank you so much for this great pattern and detailed how to video! Looking for this for gardening to keep my hair free from catching whatever might be crawling around out there! (We have an awful lot of ticks this time of year)
Thank you so much for sharing this pattern. I have been purchasing plenty of head coverings through Garlands of Grace, and I may purchase more, but I was looking to make my own snood style headcovering because I love to sew, but I did not want it to be too extravagant, just pretty and modest. Thank you so much for showing this!
Thank you! I made 5 for my daughter. She’s a speech pathologist and is working in the covid wing of a rehab center. These were easy and fun to make. I couldn’t find elastic so I bout soft hair ties and cut them. They worked perfectly. I also widened the casing opening a bit to make it easier to thread the tie. They came out great!
I would love to see a tutorial for a bouffant cap like this but non-reversable with a dedicated head band portion if that makes sense. This was a super easy to follow tutorial! I'm a nurse and its hard to find caps to buy online so I drug out my sewing machine and have been experimenting! Thank you so much!
Jessica Crompton Hi! Making the cap reversible makes construction easier, and most people who have fat quarters have many such pieces of fabric in coordinated colors, meaning, they are quilters! If two fabric layers are too hot for you, just use a 4” by 22“ fabric for the head band portion, and use a bias tape around the rounded portion to hold the elastic. Easy!
At about 5:00 I was thinking to myself: "Laura, why not use a serger." And then you said: "You can also use a serger" 😘 Easy project; thank-you, Laura. 👍
Thank you so much Laura Ann! You are such a pleasant lady! I love listening to you! I had great fun making this cap for my daughter who is a travel nurse working with Covid patients! She asked me to make her some caps and I was happy to find a simple but lovely cap to make. For just a few dollars I made this cap instead for spending $30 or more! Thanks again! ☺
I work in an orthopaedic theatre. Infection control is very strict. We have been told that our disposable scrub caps are being stopped. We can wear cotton ones that they will supply. Also we can buy our own. I have been sewing 48 years and wanted to make my own. You pattern is perfect as i have long hair. I struggled to get my hair in the disposable ones . Great tutorial, and I can't wait to make some when i get the time x
I absolutely love the caps I made. The pattern was easy to follow. I was so excited with the results that I made two right off the bat. Thanks so much for sharing.
Your tutorials are just the best, so well explained, your voice is so nice to listent to as well. It looks awesome. I’m definitely making one today. Now I’m wondering if you’re using an American FQ or a Canadian one. Will have to go look at your info. Thank you so much. You make it look so easy. Love, love!
for this pattern it will not really matter:) the US size will be just a little smaller than the Canadian one..it is tied to fit each person individually...just so you know I did use the USA FQ
Hi Laura, I just wanted to thank you so much for this tutorial and pattern. I was able to make caps like this for my mom as she is undergoing chemo. She really likes them. They are comfortable, and I can make them using a wide variety of colors and prints. I think this can be a great source of comfort to women who are losing their hair and battling cancer. Thank you again ❤
Thank you so much for doing this video! I have shared it among my coworkers and have made several caps myself. You are a blessing to us all and I appreciate you not trying to make money off showing how to make this cap.
Thank you for the pattern and the excellent instructions. I'm a diesel mechanic, and I hate getting dirt in my hair. I just made half a dozen caps for work, and I love them. I've always worn bandanas, but I'm growing my hair longer and they don't stay in place. The elastic band on this pattern is just what I need. Just because I work on buses doesn't mean I can't be ladylike too!
I do the cutting and my wife does the sewing. She is up to 175 hats in the past 3 weeks for our local hospital. Thank you for the easy pattern (from my wife!). Before that my wife made over 700 masks. I am so proud of her work.
Woa..she sews quickly!!
That’s amazing. As a nurse, I know that the staff at that hospital truly appreciate that!
That's amazing! Well done to the both of you 👏 😍
And you are awesome to help, support, and take pride in your wife. She is a lucky woman.
Где размеры кроя? Что подписать трудно? Чёртова баба.😊
Great suggestion. It will be most healthy for any type of hair texture.
I was just told a good friend has cancer. I saw this demo a long time ago and remembered it. I am going to make her some for her long journey with treatment. Thank you so much. You always explain everything so clearly,
Thank you for sharing so many wonderful ideas, patterns, and tips! For those who need to see supplies written out, like me, it sounds like the pattern requires:
Two 18 x 22 inch rectangles of main fabric(s)
One 2.5 x 45 inch fabric strip (or 2- 2.5 x 22.5 inch fabric strips)
One 8 inch piece of elastic
:)
Jessica Thank you for writing out the dimensions. Very helpful & thoughtful :)
Hi Jessica, you've probably already figured this out but, you'll need 2 of the 2.5"x45" fabric strips.
Thanks, very good
Great tutorial thanks
Thanks for writing this out. perfect!!

@@presidentelecthygienius562 you can do it!!! honest. she gives such clear instructions that it will be surprisingly easy.. if you are not sure of your machine skills there are lots of you tubes on how to sew and you can always ask here

They are looking for influencers.
Plauditectives, i also have witnessed kindness in humanity.
yes, I got my machine out, dusted it off, and am making lots of masks for local hospitals.
a lot of us have been sewing all along (thats how i found this lady) its also how so many already had stashes of fabric for mask making. but now more people are re-finding or are learning this fun and useful skill
plauditecives 💜💜💜💜
Does anyone have her pattern for masks to attach to this cap?
GOD BLESS.
By the way I am from the Philippines
By the way, her voice is so very soothing; like a very patient school teacher! It helps!
Me too when I went thru cancer.
Z'Nycé London I was thinking about making the ties wider, as well. Have you done it yet?
Hi, have you figured out the wider ties?
Wider ribbon is such a great idea, my mom has alopecia too and i believe she prefers wider ribbon ❤️
Thank you.
I made this hat, and I just LOVE it. I wore it today and got so many compliments! It is for my "bad hair days." Thank you, Laura!!!!
I just rediscovered this video and in perfect time. I started taking water exercise classes and the swim caps available give me a horrible headache. This will be perfect to keep my long hair out of the way. Thank you. Love your tutorials.
The least complicated design I've seen to date that doesn't involve lining up the curves and pinning them. Thank you for sharing your wisdom!
Thank you so much you are a great teacher
Thank you for just showing us how to make this and not talking forever about nothing
It’s very refreshing to just be able to get right to the project and start sewing. Good directions. Thanks. Nova
She's an absolute pro at giving directions -- without a lot of filler language. I love watching her videos.
Yes!!! I dislike when the intro is more than one minute.. I tent to skip those videos lol
Hello! Can you please teach us how to make non reversible bouffant?
I agree 100000%!!!
Wonderful!
I’m a surgical nurse, I absolutely love this cap! I’m going to tell my daughter to make some for me.
Wonderful tutorial. I’ve been making caps for my daughter who is an ER nurse. This is the cutest pattern Love how it can tie on top of the head
Thank you Laura! I'm making caps for my daughter, an ER doctor. I've made a couple that are far to fussy. I Love yours! Easy, quick and adjustable.😍
I want to make this for a friend going thru chemo. Did you adjust the main piece smaller?
Thank you for the tutorial on this all-purpose cap. I have made two of them and plan on making more. I absolutely love them. I was intimidated by the curve at the bottom so I used a saucer to make a mark so that I could cut an even line.
Ooooo that's a good idea
Thank you for the fast tutorial! This cap appears much easier to make than the other ones; which I did make with matching masks for hospital workers on the Navajo Nation. I sure appreciate your talent. THANK YOU again. I will give it a try this weekend. Many blessings!
I've been sewing facemasks for former students in the medical profession, family, friends and my husband's employees.
One of my students asked if I would sew scrub caps for her and sent me your video. I laughed and told her I had been watching your videos for a long time.
Thanks for the video and easy method! 🧵🧵🧵🥰
I am a retired nurse and have been trying to figure out what to do with my scrub tops. I am now going to make caps with them to cover my thinning hair
Very nice
This is an outstanding pattern. Love it! Thank you! My tip for a 3/4 seam is that I keep a large rubber band to put on my machine's bed to where I want it.
A piece of masking tape works well also.
I use blue painters tape for markings on my machine. Works really well, and no leftover adhesive.
@@c.r.mcleod8959 Washi tape leaves no residue!
Brilliant! This would be so cute for women who have lost their hair due to chemo! The color possibilities are endless.
Ohhh ohh
I missed parts. Smh. I tried to cut the fabrics.... then waited to video again. I got it about curve.....then sewing all curves around not bottom.. now I understand today FINALLLLLLLLY. Perfect on my head. Yeeeeeess
Beautiful instructions are simple understand!!
God bless you
Guess what I cut more color fabrics today .
One of the best explanations of a scrub cap. Excellent teacher you are. 😀🤓🙂
I appreciate this tutorial so much. You're an excellent teacher. I'm new to sewing and was able to follow easily. You were clear in your choice of wording and your hand gestures reinforced what you were verbalizing. Thank you!
I totally agree! 😁❤
Thank you so much for sharing your talent and making this a free pattern we can all use.
yes you can just do a rolled hem and a casing for the back.
How much of an extra allowance should I add to make the curved casing? Is there any tricks to this?
@@deirdreboertien1282 there is another way of doing it that I think you will enjoy. Cut a three inch piece the same shape as that bottom curve. One Edge will be sewn on and then you will turn it to the right side. The other Edge you just need to tuck in making a small seam allowance and top stitch that down. That little area you'll be able to put elastic in. I hope this makes sense and I hope it helps
This is great seeing how we can’t get to the hairdressers. Thanks for this great and easy pattern
yes yes yes! ive been wearing my crochet hats to cover a bad haircut this winter but summer will come and these cloth caps will be cute (and compliment out masks) for warmer weather. everybody be well.🙋
That's what I'm looking for. Something to cover this mess of hair until I can get to my hairstylist. And to keep me from hacking at it or pulling it out!
Made one today and I love it. Put it on immediately and haven't taken it off!
Exceelent. Straight forward, concise, no fluff .. .. one of the better tutorials I've seen.
Thank you.
😁 Thank You for sharing 🫶
You always explain and show projects in such a way that it becomes easy, sew very easy!
LaRae W great idea making a coordinating mask. I may have to steal your idea. Thank you 💕
LaRae, I hope you don't mind my responding to your comment.
Absolutely Excellent! This is my favourite pattern on RUclips for scrub hats and you are a gifted teacher. Thank you so much for sharing. ❤️❤️❤️
Lidia West I agree
Agreed! I've made 4 for myself and 3 for coworkers who loved the design❤Thank you.
I made a dozen of these hats last year for the RN's in my life. Today, I made one for me. My hair is shedding from having Covid in December. Thank you so much for this tutorial.
This is by far the easiest pattern I have ever seen and a very functional cap when done. Thank you so much!
Really love this pattern! Very forgiving for a newbie. My hat turned out super cute. Might need to make mine a little bigger. I have a lot of hair. Edit: I increased to front edge to 19 inches and the length to 30 inches. Much better length for my long thick hair.
These are so easy to make! I've made 2 so far and they turned out perfect. I'm making matching masks and putting buttons on the cap. Thanks so much!
An assortment of these may be my go-to as I transition from my darkly died hair to its natural gray. Thanks.
Donna Munchow I am thinking the same way. I am tired of dyeing my hair, and want to give it a try.
I'm tired of dying my hair too and also it has gone from being thick to thinning so much that I feel I'm bald.
Thanks!
So glad you are recovered, Carol.

Hi work in a hospital. I made one for my mom as a chemo cap and one for myself as a surgeon cap and wear it to hospital with a matching mask everyday... It was appreciated by so many. Thanks
Dear Laura,
I have made about 15 hats for myself and my co-workers at a nursing home in Ontario.
I love this! No more paper bag over my head to get home from my salon hair cut! lol
Thanks my daughter is a nurse and asked me to make her scrub caps and your pattern is easy
Easy!
Love, love, love it. I can’t wait to make them in many colors as I am growing my short hair out to a different style .... why not?
Amazing! It looks so cute too. I knew I was saving those adorable fat quarters for something!
Your tutorials are just the best, so well explained, your voice is so nice to listent to as well. It looks awesome. I’m definitely making one today. Now I’m wondering if you’re using an American FQ or a Canadian one. Will have to go look at your info. Thank you so much. You make it look so easy. Love, love!
She is Canadian, so I imagine shes using a Canadian one
for this pattern it will not really matter:) the US size will be just a little smaller than the Canadian one..it is tied to fit each person individually...just so you know I did use the USA FQ
I just made 12 for a hospital near me. They needed them.
I made this and now can't stop wearing it.
What kind of material did you use?
I just made it 😁
I want to make them for my crush the surgeon
Hmm, perhaps for chemo patients too
Im a respiratory therapist and I made one, wore it, loved it, making more of them as I type this out :))))
Thank you!!!
