- The Wailing Souls emerged from the cradle of reggae that was Trenchtown in the late 1960s and were part of the pioneers who took the genre to the world. Today they are the remaining link to the glorious story of reggae music
Blessed love, thank you for honoring the genius of most of my mentors from my 20 years in Los Angeles! Joe Higgs, Pipe and Bread, Garthy, Gregory G.! Keep shining! Jah Give Us Life, Shark Attack, love you, Bredren! Respect always! ❤💛🖤💚🔥🇯🇲🌟🎶🌎
Nobody has voices like Pipe and Bread's. Thank you for paying homage to the Wailing Souls.
The Wild Suspense dubs are HAUNTING.
Born in '93, grew up in the Bay Area. I know that if I had been exposed to Reggae (besides Bob) much earlier, I would've grown up to be a very different person. Now that I've been listening, I feel grounded in a way I never was. It's nice to learn about the history of these artists, so thank you for this channel 🌞
Blessings ✌️
4rom Zimbabwe with love! Thnx 4 the vybes. Run them down is my all tine favourite.
My all time favorite roots band .. living legends.
So blessed to get my CD signed by the Wailing Souls. Even got to smoke a spliff with Don Carlos at a concert. Also have a Don Carlos CD signed by him. Really some of the best concerts I ever been to to.

"Picky-picky head go buy new head, them used to say
Picky-picky head you are a natty dread
whoa oh oh whoay" 🖤💚💛♥️
Words of wisdom...and actions speak louder than words...!!!
Now you look like a superstar...who you are!!!???
Them come from near...them come from far......
Long may they wail. Noff strong.
1981 Wailing album is legendary as well.
As I am a bigger fan of Ska and Rocksteady...I have to admit that The Wailing Souls by far my favorite Roots band. Big ups R.A.S for another great and informative video. Blessings
Songs like those on cool runnings drew a lot of outside people into reggae. I'm sure that roots fans didn't like inner circle's bad to the bone, or reggae dancer, but they brought this Canadian into the world of reggae, and now because of it, I know firehouse rock and Kingston 14, and inner circle's reggae thing, and all of Jacob Miller before them. But I wouldn't have pursued the history of the genre without being introduced to it with crossover tracks first.
What an amazing group. Thank you for covering their story with such love and care. My favorite Wailing Souls song may be "Sticky Stay." "Hold fast...never let go!"
Give thanks for your well researched posts. Each time I learn something new, presented briefly & to the point. Cool! 🌻✌🏻😎

Yes I ✌️ Great suggestion
Very same thoughts, by the way the World Famous Congos are on tour Now in Paris France. They are a remaining Roots Reggae Treasure still making great music and touring the World.
The more I watch these stories of these legendary groups, the more I realize that there are multiple stories, and it may be difficult to know the entire truth…as several members may have their own versions. Still, glad to have decades of great music.
Each member of these groups have slightly different versions of these events that's why we get the multiple points of view and put them all together to make these videos
@@ReggaeAppreciationSociety Even with all of the differences and bad blood, what pains me more is that many of these legends still aren’t getting the monitory rights that they deserve.
@@BlackAfrikan Yep that was a big issue because most of them didn't get good advice. One of the artistes that got the better of the industry was Half Pint who came out stinking rich. We covered it here 👇

@@ReggaeAppreciationSociety Cool, I’ll check your video out. I’ve been watching many, as I’ve just recently discovered your channel.
@@BlackAfrikan Enjoy 👍 plenty more to come
Hello from São Paulo - Brazil. Big fan of Jacob Miller. Congrats
Bless good review.
Row fisherman Row was my introduction to the Wailing Souls in the early 80s...A Hip and innovative sound different from previous Roots music I'd listened to.... Actually the Souls kick-started their Deep Roots crusade from the fantastic Wild Suspense album which for me was a radical departure from the rather monotonous style of the previous era.
Very nice. You do a great job of these presentations. Thank You. "Jah Bless" 👍
Well done !
give thanks for your wonderful work Ras!
Blessings ✌️
Love these videos!!!!
Fire deh a mus mus tail ☝🏿
NO! NO! PIPE VOICE NEVER SOUNDED LIKE BOB MARLEY, NOR JUNIOR BRAITHWAITE, NOR RAS CARDO. YOUR OWN SPECULATION IS WRONG MY BRETHREN. GOOD EFFORT TO TELL MY TRENCH TOWN BRETHRENS STORY, BUT MUCH MORE NEEDS TO BE SAID ABOUT THEM AS REGGAE FOUNDATION LEGENDS. WE KNOW YOU DO NOT HAVE THE DETAILS.
Appreciate you massive RAS
