If I were walking through Kingston & walked past Buddy Haye, I would never recgonise & realize this is Buddy.Haye, key member of one of Jamaica's greatest vocal groups. Amongst my favorite groups the Souls. was my first experience watching a live concert back in 1983 alongside the Roots Radics Rhythm Section, excellent concert with Buddy, Pipe, Bread & the late Gareth Dennis...Real history to document, Teach Dem...
The history surrounding the music is always intriguing. Am glad that Teach is a kindred, with similar interests in history. Respect Teach. These interviews are great

Teach respect, big people thing. Wailing Souls have backed so many voices during the Studio 1st era. I have seen an interview with Garth Dennis but I've never seen an interview with Buddy Haye. Looking forward to this
Great interview I had no idea Buddy was still alive as when I see Wailing Souls in concert It's always Pipe and Bread...now I know as Buddy has told his story shame what happens to legendary groups
Wailing Souls…one of my fav groups…still listen to some of their memorable songs, unfortunately, their story is all too common in the history of our music…that’s why it pains me whenever I hear people try to belittle Marley’s success by saying it is because he’s half white…notwithstanding that after being robbed for many yrs, he took control of his musical ability by building a studio to record whatsoever he pleased, controlling publishing, distribution, all aspects of his works…I dare say Marley set the example for the reggae musicians to follow but most were just interested in getting a one way ticket out of Jamaica…I pray the brethren reap the benefits of his great recordings…
Mr. Teach. Listen, and learn. You nuh know it like Budddy. I see dem man deh everyday. Only when dem deh a foreign, I don't see dem. Respect u still to catch the elders now and not later. 👍👍👍
more time I just hit the like button because I just cannot keep repeating how your interviews are going to the deep rooted depths of this music. I cannot believe I’m hearing these untold stories in full ,due to these stars walking the walk of fame. The gratitude I feel of understanding the term ‘from nothing to something’is shown throughout Jamaica history. I’m not coming from a place of patriotism, but a place that has produce some off the greatest because of the turmoil this little island has faced . AMAZING

It's so important to learn history. Many different histories. But the old Reggae music stories, chu! Reggae musicians went through so much manipulation. These are great singers an songwriters who don't receive their dure rewards. Many old, many pass an gone. It's sad. It's so unjust!
Teach them great job as usual but by watching this interview great interview mr. Buddy can barely talk seemed impossible for him to sing hope he get a call blessings to him
The part where him mentioned when cooking dem used to pass food over fence sharing with everyone. That was a true thing in the ghetto I witnessed that I grow up in a tenament yard but when my mother cook everyone in the yard would get a plate that was in a place call Ricketts crescent Kingston 13
If you think an artist is washout and forgotten ,Teach Dem will find them and trust me the show does refine them. I’m 56 y/o, Jamaican🇯🇲 born and raised living in Ghana 🇬🇭 now…and the older I get, the more I’m getting into many of the greats, and not just 1 or 2 of their hits that I know from decades ago. I’m greatful that I have the opportunity, still. Having said so, I’m so perplexed as to why, in 2023, I’m still seeing so many greats still not being payed for their works. Get lawyers and go after these crooks. It’s just so sad, but I’m also saying that artists must secure their intellectual properties and generational wealth from the beginning…not decades later.

I agree with your comments 100%. Firehouse Rock, Kingdom Rise Kingdom Fall, etc were part of my musical education in the early 80s as a teenager. Any artist/ Junjo Lawes/ Roots Radics band recorded at Channel 1 mix at King Tubby by scientist = A hit tune. Many foundation artists should actually be rich today. I just hope somehow Buddy and others like him get some money before they pass on as I can see he is suffering and hurt but has dignity/ pride.
