In the 70's, I listened to Ranking Joe and Jah Screw playing Stur Gav at Club Hawaii in May Pen, Clarendon. I also listened to both of them at Four Paths Community Center, in Clarendon on Stur Gav. I actually know about that Dillinger song "Cup of tea" listening to Stur Gav in 70's. That duo of Joe and Screw was a part of my early inspiration and influence to become a selector.
Yes Mr Teach Dem, was Jah Screw Awarded a National Honor by the Jamaican Government for the Advancement of Dancehall / Reggae Music for his part in being a Genius in it's Development ❤❤❤, there is too much information in this for one Interview Thanks.
It's so sad that with such foundation of dancehall music we're at such a mess today. I hope good sense will prevail and the music will get back track to greatness. I love what Bounty, Cham and Dave are now doing. There is HOPE. Big up Teach Dem a job well done
Legendary Jah Screw one of the most innovative & creative Jamaican record producers I have come to know. Much love & respect Jah Screw your contribution to Reggae & Dancehall is tremendous.
Its good to see jah screw. I always ask what happen to him. I listened to him on stur gav, in earlier times, just before inspector willie. Jah looks very young for his age. Yes Iya, i first remember seeing Ranking Joe & Jah Screw on RAY SYMBOLIC SOUND SYSTEM around 1980/81 at Brixton Town Hall London UK. The other Sound in session was FRONTLINE INTERNATIONAL. I remember Leroy 'Horsemouth' Wallace was at that dance, cos i got his autograph. The dance was wicked. A good session had by all who attended. 🇬🇧🇯🇲🎤🔊🎼🎵🎶
countrobbie3712 - The 1st ever dance I went to was at the Bouncing Ball in Peckham when Ray symbolic played on the same tour. I was in my early teen years and actually sneaked out of my parents' house to attend. I remember being a crazy fan of Ranking Joe's rolling tongue style at the time.
Nuff respect to you teach them for this interview I remember jah scwe from king ster gav international selector blessings always be with you my brother 🙏🇯🇲🇯🇲🏴💯
Appreciate the interview, but note of correction. That Dillinger dance that Jah Screw is not the invention of the art of mixing. When Danny Dread mixed, there were no mixers around as in Jah Screw's dance. Danny Dread mixed tube amps by locking the bass on and off. Thus, Danny Dread invented the art of mixing. Fortunately some of us were around
Correct, Also Flux use to mix One Drop Style on Stereophonic but not Frequent on every Song, just Occasionally. I would give the Frequently mixing Style to Danny Dread.
@davidhenry368 Correct, but the bass and treble style was going on at King Tubbys Hometown Hi Fi from U Roy was playing Tubbys Sound, alot of Sounds follow dat trend, Jah Screw use to be active with dat unique Style in which he brings in the bass right at the punchline of the Vocal when a Song Start. Inspector Willie follow the same trend, dat is where I learn it. I still play Sound like dat today. We call it weight & treble Sound. Now we use the Richter Scale Series 3 to drop out the Bass and Punch it in. Back in the days we did dat on a Preamplifier.
@@hungchung2726Very good comment. I grew up in Rockfort, Eastern Kingston, and attended many Stereophonic dances. You are correct about Flux mixing but he did not do it regularly or with any particular style or rhythm. However, as ah Eastman, ah Arrows Hi-Fi mi seh
