I like this guy.. he’s saying virtually word for word what I tell my homeowners when I refinish cabinets. Compliments from someone in the trade since 1994.
I’ve been using tritech 208 and 206 fine finish tips on an airless, absolutely incredible finish. And a whip hose is mandatory inside the narrow passageways of a kitchen. Great job. I’ve been using pre cat for years but just switched to renner and it’s incredible. And learning about positive pressure and negative pressure is another simple tip. Also a quality sander isn’t an option, at least to get down to bare wood. Whenever I skip sanding it always comes out sub par. Whenever I sand between every coat, it comes out even better
Renner is a brand name , also, cic, malesi, etc. These are water based idustrial coatings. As this guy mentioned on anothet level. Check Eric Reason, test dont guess, on youtube. He has been usings these new polyurethane 1k and 2k water base coatings for the last couple of years. A ton of info about products, tips, brands, sanders, sanding pads, methods, airless, air assit, hvlp, etc. N
Very nice video, I do wish they would have talked more about the preparation of the actual paint. What type of paint is recommended if any additives are needed and so on.
U should have used graco's 208 fflp or even fine to get the finest results. Those tips prevents paint runs and wont throw too much paint on the trim or cabinet
I recently purchased a fuji sprayer from The Paint People to paint some custom made fireplace cabinets I made. Wow, everyone needs to rush out and get one of these sprayers. Within a few minutes I was spraying like a pro and the results were top notch. Although hiring a painter (like in this video) to do this would have been easier as I masked up the entire area which does take some time, but I like to DIY and thought I'd give this a try. No regrets. The guy in the video is obviously a pro and not to take anything away from him, but it is possible to DIY this with similar results if you have the time and the proper equipment. On to the next project!
For new guys out there here's a great tip. when doing the carcasses or the faces less is more! If you get runs by mistake let them dry out fully and then deal with them after the fact don't go after them while they're wet you'll make a mess also you can go to habitat for humanity buy some cabinets for cheap and practice on them cheap furniture too is nice to buy to practice on.
Amazing workmanship! I’m so pleased you featured this company and it’s capabilities! “There’s a science to watching paint dry” 😂 I love the attention to detail. I only wish they were in my area.
Hi I'm from Sydney Australia I'm a DIY , I make my own cabinets , I just use melamine, I'm interested in spraying my cabinets, what is the best paint I could use for this kind of job , I been searching trying to get some knowledge about this ?
It's been a minute since I've done cabinets so I wanted a refresher video it's a very satisfying video that you have put together ,very complete. thanks for going through all the details. Your commentary is really good. Nice emphasizing your whip lines there so much more convenient to manipulate and move around tight areas and to get the true motion on your arm to create your final layoff.
I'm a DIY'r that has to tackle my kitchen cabinets this week. We're talkin' mid-range cabinets... nothing fancy. I believe they are poplar, shaker-style. I want to spray but didn't want to pay the big $$$ for a good HVLP piece of equipment and am not trying to get a super high-end finish, just something that looks good and fresh. I forgot that we had bought a Graco Magnum X7 YEARS ago (like ten years) that was still in the box in the attic. Never used! I'm going to be using FFLP 211 and 311 tips while using Sherwinn-Williams Extreme Bond Primer and Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel. Does anyone have experience using a Graco X7 for cabinets? Is this a sound approach given the situation outlined? This video gives me some level of hope that I'm on the right track. Lots of great advice here and hoping to gain a few more perspectives.
311 is too small of a tip for the extreme bond primer you'll get tails even at 3000psi I would use a 312 thinned 10%. 310 for the emerald urethane, have used a 308 with it as well no issues unthinned. X7 isn't approved for solvent-based paints so use at your own risk. If you do use it run thinner through it after the primer and make sure the gun is bonded to the metal waste container your shooting into. Provides a ground for static build up in the hose.
@@alterrex6921 Both the Extreme Bond Primer & Emerald Urethane are water based products….no need to use paint or lacquer thinner and they are not flammable.
@@DownloaderVideo My apologies, I use the Extreme Block Alkyd Primer and was referencing that using the wrong name. Yes, the Extreme bond is water based.
This was a great video. Wish these guys worked in my area. I'd like to repaint my cabinets but first I want to make new doors/drawers and then have them sprayed. I'm currently repainting the inside of my home BM Simply White and using Advance on all the doors/trim. I previously painted my cabinets using Sherwin Williams and as careful as I am I still have a chip here and there but I didn't use any kind of hardening agent on them after which may be part of the problem.
This video is oddly calming and soothing to watch! I need help with a project: Want to paint a great room built-in to match a brand new kitchen. The GR built-in has car-siding with a honey gold finish (1980!). New kitchen opposite is a mix of painted and wood cabinetry. I am a homeowner who wants to prep my built-in for professional spraying. Got an orbital sander but the car siding crevices are tricky. Any helpful suggestions besides more muscle, perseverance and patience? I'm tempted to remove the car-siding altogether.
Beautiful. This guys has to be Assyrian. Anyway quick question from your boys in Chicago, which primer would you recommend to use? Also for finish coats which paint would you recommend? Also do you guys add a top clear coat of any kind?
I just bought a fine finish tip and a brand-new guard for it the first time the first time trying it I had a problem with it I will spray the paint and once I would release the trigger of my gun somehow it squirts a thin line of paint what kind of problem be thank you
Hi there, he said to use a pre-catalyzed solvent based primer, and a waterborne pre-catalyzed laquer, 3 coats. I believe Canlak makes them both. Pre-catalyzed means the catalyst is already in there.
An average household kitchen usually costs between 4-6k. You should be able to upload photos on our websites to receive an estimate. Give us a call if you're having any issues!
I would sell my soul to have gun technique like that the transition from from the work to the masking and back to work is awesome I’ve watched this video 20 times I’m always worried about spits from starting and stop I feel like If could master the face frames like that! what gun do you use ?
Please tell us what products PaintCore used on that kitchen (primer/topcoat). You popped up a Benjamin Moore logo, but Rade really seemed to avoid any specifics on the paint. You are the Paint People, right? I thought maybe it was Ultralaq, but Rade's mention of the number of coats doesn't follow Ultralaq guidelines.
@@thepaintpeople Thanks, but there is only one US distributor for Canlak and they don't even have their own website. Using a Benjamin Moore hashtag and showing a Benjamin Moore logo when Rade starts spraying is very deceptive.
We put the Benjamin Moore logo because the colour used was Simply White, and considering a majority of our videos have been about colour, that was our focus with the hashtags. Perhaps it should be moreso focussed on the product itself, so we can change the hashtags to reflect that better. Thanks for the feedback!
